Chloe POV
I almost finished my homework when I heard footsteps coming from upstairs. I knew mom wasn't home, but the steps also came from my room. I felt every hair stand up on my body and could swear I hear a loud thumping of another heart beat get louder and louder. I grab for my phone and go towards the back door. I got outside and was about to take off running, anywhere away from my house when all of a sudden Alek was just there.
" Chloe what's wrong, are you hurt? "
" No, no, um, I,"
I had to catch my breath my heart is beating so fast. My thoughts were racing a mile a minute as well. Do I tell him about hearing someone else's heart beat, no just the footsteps I don't want to sound crazy.
" My mom left for a few days and I heard someone upstairs while I was doing my"
Without letting me finish he was headed towards the gate and into my backyard from where I came. I followed him quietly. Alek motioned for me to stay outside. Of course I didn't. I followed him into the house and we heard a thud. Alek and I walked up the stairs and he opened my door. The man from earlier was standing in the middle of my room and when Alec went for him, he went out the window and was gone. I looked around and my room was a mess. He was looking for something but I have no idea what.
" Have you ever seen him before Chloe?"
I never heard him talk to me so seriously before. His eyes were so intense it was hard to not get lost in them.
" Just today on my way to work he was following me earlier but that's it."
Why am I letting myself me so drawn to him. I need to put my gaurd up.
" Keep your windows and doors locked tonight."
" You don't need to sound so concerned I was just startled is all, he probably won't be back. These random break ins happen to anyone."
" I have to go but please be safe Chloe. Here is my number call me if you need anything."
" Thanks. "
I wanted to tell him I didn't need his number but a part of me was actually really relived and felt safer. I thought about telling Mom but we all know she would lose it and I don't want her missing out on work for this.
Alek POV
Why would a member of The Order be coming after Chloe? Something is definitely up, but he will also be back. I did some scouting to make sure no one was near Chloe's anymore. I couldn't find anyone. I pulled out my phone.
" Aunt Val, a member of the Order was in Chloe's room, he got away, I checked the area and no one is watching the house right now. "
" Okay Alek let's take this more seriously. Stay there tonight and call me in the morning I am wrapping something up and we will figure out what to do from there."
" Will do."

With that I climbed the tree outside Chloe's window and saw her climb into her bed and practically pass out right away. I went to the roof and laid down. I stared at the stars listening to Chloe's heart beat.
Who would want to harm Chloe. She has the best smile and kindest heart out of anyone. Huh, do I like Chloe King? I need to not think about that until I know for sure if she is Mai.
Chloe POV
I am not ready to clean this mess, but I hate sleeping in a dirty room. I turn on some music and start cleaning. I remember how tired I am. I finally finished and went into the bathroom to take a shower. The hot water relaxed my muscles. I got out and put on my pajama shorts and an old t shirt. I barley made it to my bed before I was out cold.
Chloe's dream
I was running in a park away from the man that was in my room. I was getting cornered when another man came out of the shadows of a tree and blocked me from getting away. Both of the men walked slowly towards me
" We are going to have fun with this one. She is a fighter."
" Imagine she is the one we are looking for."
" Well let's she is she wakes up or not."
Then one of the men grab me I try to break free and as the other one goes to stab me.
I kick his hand away from me and,
I yelled "Alek! Please find me!"
" Aw kitten no one will find you."
And than I woke up, out of breath in my room. I just laid there realizing last night was real but my dream was so weird. I heard a knock on the door down stairs. It's pretty early especially for visitors on a Saturday. I went down stairs and open the door and it was Alek.
" What are you doing here so early?"
" Nice to see your glad to see me, good morning Chloe."
" Ugh. Come in but wait down here while I change."
I hurried up and got some clothes, most importantly a bra on. Brushed my teeth and cleaned up a bit. I hope he isn't just here because he feels sorry for me, but is it bad I like spending time with Alek? Ugh I hate how much he is in my head. I went down stairs and he was helping himself to some orange juice.
" So what brought you by so early?"
" Well I felt bad I had to leave the way I did and want to make sure your doing ok. "
" Yea I'm doing ok."
" Good. Nice necklace by the way I didn't know your a cat person. "
I totally forgot I was still wearing it.
" Actually, well long story short. I was adopted when I was younger and this necklace was all I had from my mother. I think of it as good luck now, but my parents passed away in a horrible accident."
" I am sorry to hear that. My parents were killed and so I have lived with my aunt Val since. I'm glad u have something from them."
" Thank you. They where my only family but I love my mom she does great just workes alot."
" That sounds like it can get lonely from time to time."
" I guess so, but I like the space."
" Well I'm glad your doing ok, I'mma head out but call if you need me."
I walked him out and thanked him for checking in on me.
Alek POV
I'm sure she is Mai. I pulled out my phone and called aunt Val.
" Hey Alec any new activity since last night?"
" No, but the necklace I asked you about before. Chloe says she is adopted and that's all the has of her mother. She also had a nightmare last night I heard her heart racing but she didn't tell me about it."
" Give her time. But I am sure if The Order is showing up it is for a good reason. I would like to meet Chloe and see if we can put some pieces of this puzzle together."
" Ok, I just left I'm heading back to shower and change than we can come back for Chloe."
I ran on the roof tops because I knew thats the fastest way to get back during the day. I wonder why she didn't tell me about her nightmare, I heard her call out my name. I wonder what she saw.
