AN: So, school. School is the main reason why I am not consistent. But if I want to succeed then I have to do well in school. Now with the COVID-19 shit going on and my being in online school makes it harder for inspiration.
During this time of quarantine and crazy people, I hope all of you are doing alright. My state in the US has gone into full lockdown. I'll try and get more updates out but again there is no guaranty.

Now, let's just jump right into the story.

Everest's Chase

Chapter Two

A Pasts Come Back

It has been a day since the attack on the Lookout. I don't understand why someone would show up and say that they want to kill my love and me. Like who does that?

Right now we are at the hospital. The crazy thing is that after the incident of 2100, dogs of all kinds were considered animals like humans. Smart and talkative. Since then humans and dogs have coexisted with each other. Though most dogs still have human families. Anyway, hospitals are required to serve dogs and humans.

Now, Chase is in room 305, but they did not let me see him for the past two hours. That is until his male doctor, Dr. Schenk, came through the doors.

"Ryder?" He said looking around. Ryder and I got up and walked over to him.

"Yes?" Ryder responded.

"I have good news and bad news. We will talk on the way to Chase's room," Dr. Schenk said in a German accent. How fitting.

We started to walk some and got to an elevator. You may be asking where my pups are. Well, I didn't want them to come to the hospital. Their immune systems are still developing and a hospital is the last place I want them to be. For now, I left them with Skye and Rocky at the Lookout. They are safer there. Another good thing is that the only ones that know of Blitz and Abby's birth are the pups, Ryder, and Katie. I have asked them to keep it quiet for now because of yesterday's incident. I don't want whoever that evil man worked for, to find out and use them against us.

I heard Ryder and the doctor talking, but I wasn't paying attention. All I wanted was to see Chase awake and healing.

We got off the elevator and the doctor said to me that he was in room 303 now. That was only a few steps away and the door was closed. I speed walked over and knocked.

I looked at Ryder and he came up and opened the door. I then went in. The room was dark and the curtains of the window were closed letting in no light from the outside. There was a tray full of uneaten food and a hospital bed.

"Be careful when you wake him up," Dr. Scheck warned, "He has been a little agitated from the shoot out." I nodded to him and walked slowly up to the bed.

Dr. Scheck hit a button which then lowered the bed some so I could see him on my level. There he was, sleeping with many tubes and wires on him. A red liquid flowed from a pack to him as well as a pack of clear liquid.

"Everest, Chase lost some blood from his encounter. Right now he is having a blood transfusion meaning we are giving him more blood," Dr. Scheck explained.

I nodded and walked closer to the bed. I got up onto it and laid right next to Chase's body. I could hear his breath and his chest went steadily up and down. I then saw his face. His eyes were closed. I put my face right next to his and nuzzled his snout.

Once I did that he started to stir and both eyes slowly opened, "Everest?" he said in a very quiet and hard to hear voice.

"Yes, Chase?" I stated. Tears started to form in my eyes, "I missed you."

"I was here. There was no need to worry," he said so calmly.

I just nodded and snuggled up to him. He got a paw free and placed it over my back. I felt at ease in his presence. I didn't want to leave.

I then started to overhear Ryder and the doctor talking, "So, how bad was his injuries?" Ryder asked.

"Not bad at all. We first thought it was going to be bad but the three bullets were nowhere to be found in him. That means that they only grazed him," Dr. Scheck explained.

"Then how did he lose so much blood? Did they go all the way through him?" Ryder asked again.

"No, none of the bullets went into him. They have just grazed him and opened him up a bit. That is why all the blood. Once the blood transfusion is finished he can be discharged but he will have to take it easy for a few weeks because of his broken leg," the doctor stated.

Ryder nodded and then proceeded to watch Chase and I hug and snuggle.

The Next Day

I wake up to the door of Chase and I's room opening and Ryder helping a limping Chase in. I quietly got up not to wake our pups and walked over to them.

"I got it, Ryder," I said as I got to Chase's side and helped him over to our bed.

Ryder nodded and stayed at the door and as soon as Chase and I were back on our bed he left.

Once Chase and I were back on the bed he went to sleep next to our pups. I followed shortly after.

I woke up and I had a few things on my mind. Why did a random man just show up to kill me and Chase? How did Ryder know he wanted to kill us? Does Chase's horrible past have something to do about this? What the heck Chase?

To try and clear my mind I went to the kitchen to find something to eat. I found some cooked steak in the fridge, it just needs to be heated up. Chase and I have rejected the kibble Ryder used to give us because we started craving raw or cooked meat. The kibble was not enough for us and we did not feel good after eating it. Ryder feeds us meat for now on.

Anyway, when I went over to the microwave I put the steak in there and started to heat it up. Just then Chase came limping in.

"Chase," I practically shouted, "Why are you here?"

"Everest, shhh!" he whispered back in a sore voice.

"I'm sorry," I apologized, "If you wanted something you could have asked me."

"I wanted our pups to sleep more and plus," he sighed, "You deserve answers."

I was stunned. The microwave beeped but I simply ignored it and walked over to Chase.

"Answers?" I asked dumbly.

"Yes, about what happened two days ago. You are my mate and you deserve answers on why that happened," Chase explained. He had this guilty look and his voice sounded like he just came from Germany.

I went over to him and nuzzled his head with mine. "You don't need to talk about it if you don't want to," I comforted him.

Chase smiled a bit but then the smile faded away, "If I don't tell you now then if something else happened I might not be able to tell you and you will want to know what is going on."

"Ok," I said as he broke our hug and headed into the living room of the Lookout.

I followed him and we both sat down on one of the large bean bags.

He then started to talk, "Back when I was born my father was killed two hours later by a gang. Their reason for killing him was that he always put a knot in their plans. The gang was called Red Dawn. They terrorized citizens of Germany and sold drugs like Meth, Heroin, etc. My father was one of the best that the GSG9 had. Once he was killed not only did I lose my father, they lost a friend, a leader, a motivator. They said that he was the nicest dog they ever met. My father was then posted as an example to all who would follow." Chase paused for a moment but then continued, "After a year with my mother she was hunted down by the same gang and she was shot right in front of me. I had the blood of my mother on my fur. I hid while they shot two more times," Tears started to form in his eyes and I came and confronted him.

"You don't have to continue if you want," I suggested.

"No, you must know," he argued. After he wiped the tears off he continued, "After the death of my mother the GSG9 trained me and sent me here, the US. I worked with the FBI in Colorado in a number of cases until I had a near-death experience. During a mission that I was sent on with two other canine agents named Lupe and Stark. Lupe, our small team leader was with me while Stark was in a vehicle monitoring everything. Then, gunshot. I passed out thinking it was the sound that spooked me, only for me to wake up at a hospital. Lupe said that if I was one more inch closer, the bullet would have hit my heart killing me. I asked how it happened and he said that it was a sharpshooter from the gang Red Dawn. For my safety and being the last of my family, the FBI moved me from Colorado to here. Then they helped Ryder and I start the PAW Patrol. That attack two days ago was by one of their suicide agents. Yes, Red Dawn sends suicide agents to get minor things done. They must have thought that I was not armed," Chase finally finished.

I heard about his parents' deaths before, but not his near-death experience. I wanted to know more about Lupe and Stark.

"Oh, I never heard of Lupe or Stark before. Who were they?" I asked.

"Lupe and Stark were my teammates in the state of Colorado. We did most of our missions together. Me being the sniper and Stark the tech expert and Lupe the leader. I learned most of my leadership skills from Lupe," Chase explained.

"Lupe must have been a good leader then," I stated.

"He was the best leader I served under. It's just that I haven't seen him or Stark ever since that day. The FBI wanted us to cut contact for the safety of them and me. I guess now that Red Dawn has found me, I think it is time to contact them again," Chase said as he got up and limped back to the elevator.

I went with him to our room. He started to search for something in his desk's drawers, yes he has a desk and it needs to be cleaned off, once he found something he said, "Ah-Ha! After all this time I get to contact my mentor."

He dialed the number on a touch screen and not two seconds later a voice was heard, "Hello?"

"Lupe?" Chase asked.

"Chase?!"
