Chapter Two

(Madison's POV)

Carlisle and I were running in the woods on our way to Forks, Washington. Who would even name a town Forks? I'll never understand humans. I sighed and turned my head to Carlisle, not stumbling as we ran over the rough terrain. "Carlisle?"

"Yes?" He replied,

"Is it ok if I watch them from the forest? Just so I'll be able to know who to watch when I finally meet them?" I asked.

He nodded, his golden eyes understanding. "You may," he hesitated briefly before continuing, "Please remember to feed outside of our territory, we don't want any unwanted attention from the wolves."

"Wolves?" I asked him with a skeptically raised brow.

"Yes, we've made a contract with the shapeshifters that live on the reservation, and please, don't cause any trouble with them if you decide to look around."

I gave him a mock offended look and pointed at myself, "Me? Cause trouble? Carlisle, you must be mistaking me for someone else because I never cause trouble," I paused when he gave me a pointed look, "Ok, maybe a little trouble," I admitted grudgingly.

We continued running for a moment. I felt a small pull in my chest, as though something was trying to lead me into the direction of Forks but I quickly dismissed it as my imagination.

Carlisle and I finally stopped running and I turned to face him. "I'll be around your territory, but I won't make any contact with the others."

He nodded, "And when will we be seeing you?"

I shrugged "Probably around a week, maybe more"

"And how will you make sure Edward won't hear you?"

"I'll just morph so I'll blend in, " I paused a moment before I continued, "I don't know if that will block his power, but I'm sure he'll never guess that it came from an animal." My power was the ability to morph. I'm able to morph into any animal I want, but the animal I choose will become bigger and strong enough to kill a vampire. Unfortunately, when I morph back, I temporarily have that animal's behavior before I return to my natural form. Thank goodness that when I morph back my clothes will morph with me.

Carlisle smiled and held out his hand, "I'll see you in a week then."

I nodded and ignored his hand, giving him a swift hug, "I'll see you soon!" I ran off, morphing into a fox as I went. My fox was bigger than your typical fox, and my teeth and claws were as strong as my teeth and nails if I were still a vampire, and I'm still able to run as fast if a little slower.

I ran close to their house but gradually moved into a slow gait, my ears twitching as I caught the sound of a voice.

"Carlisle! Welcome back!" I heard a large voice boom.

(Edward POV)

"Carlisle! Welcome back!" Emmet yelled in his loud, cheerful way.

I sighed but stood as well to greet Carlisle. I walked into our living room where Esme, Jasper, Emmet, and Carlisle were in. I smiled and nodded my head to Carlisle in greeting. My eyes flicked over the room, Emmet and Jasper were surprisingly playing video games and Esme was reading one of her house design magazines.

"Hello Edward, " he returned my greeting in his thoughts, as I was telepathic.

"How was your hunting trip?" Esme asked as she stood and walked over to her mate, wrapping Carlisle in a hug.

"Good, " Carlisle replied as he hugged her back before moving up to his office.

"I'm going to go hunting before I check on Bella, " I say, not waiting for a reply as I walked out of the house and ran into the woods. I sighed, wishing I didn't have to gorge myself on the blood of elk to be able to see her. I paused, hearing a muffled rustle.

"Carlisle said...Edward...mate…Victoria?" I heard an almost silent, musical voice and turned my head in surprise, trying to find the person who thought of me and Carlisle.

I narrowed my eyes in confusion when the 'voice' didn't continue anymore. I heard another rustle and took a short step forward but relaxed when I realized it was only a fox, by the scent of it. I gave a small sigh of relief.

I went deeper into the forest after the scent of elk hit my nose, quickly erasing all thoughts of the strange voice.
