Hi! The creation of this chapter was delayed because school's restarted. Anyway, hope you enjoy!
Chapter 2.
I sit in the common room, thinking about life in Pontypandy so far. I've noticed that the 'okay' and 'how are you?' signs are often used in emergencies where verbal communication isn't possible without shouting and/or potentially alarming the people already in danger. Sam (The red-haired one.), Elvis and Penny (The blond woman.) seemed rather surprised when I pointed out the near-genius use of basic BSL, clearly, they've never been told/ never realized that the "odd hand gestures" as they called it, is BSL.
-Meanwhile in Station Officer Steele's office (Sam's POV.)-
So, what do you three think of Ellie and Arnold?" Penny asks, in a clear attempt at coversation with us.
"Hmm... Arnold's friendly enough once you get to know him. I didn't talk enough with Ellie to actually get to know her, though." Elvis says.
"Ellie's rather sociable and I didn't socialize enough with Arnold to get to know him." I say, Station Officer Steele's the final to respond.
"Well, I didn't really speak with Arnold, Ellie's pleasant enough. Although I think I might've seen Arnold before." He says, clearly attempting to figure out anywhere he might've seen Arnold before, actually, now that I think about it, Arnold has an astonishing resemblance to a teenager who went missing four years ago and was never found. I look at Elvis, Penny and Station Officer Steele (Have I ever mentioned that Station Officer Steele's last name is spelled similarly to the German word "Seele", which means "Soul" in English?") who are clearly having similar lines of thought to me.
"Wait a second, I think I still have the file for that case." Station Officer Steele walks over to a drawer and takes out a file. While this isn't common knowledge, but because Pontypandy doesn't have a police department, we firefighters can carry out police tasks and assignments, this includes the legal right to keep information about previous and unsolved cases. In the file there's a picture of a teenager almost identical to Arnold, but what's written in the file suggests that it's just someone of likely close blood relation to Arnold.
Full name: Aurelius Edmund Mckinely.
Age: 18.
Missing.
We all look at each other. Could Arnold be the boy who went missing all those years ago? If so, why would he introduce himself under an alias?
"I think we should ask Arnold about this before jumping to conclusions." Penny suggests. We nod.
"I think we should do it tomorrow. Right now, it's time for Elvis and Arnold to start cooking dinner." I say. Elvis, who's just remembered about dinner, immediately rushes to the kitchen, shouting.
"ARNOLD! IT'S TIME TO START COOKING!" Arnold and Elvis, it turns out, both love cooking, so they decided to cook meals together, ever since then, the likeliness of us eating something that's been burned in the pan or oven has decreased significantly.
