On land at the castle town of Alexandria, about anybody and everybody were seen trying to get tickets or seats to see I Want to Be Your Canary that was being performed. Amongst the goers was a visiting young Black Mage from the neighbour city of Treno. No family and no friends, the boy was all alone. A very impressive feat considering he boarded an airship to visit the kingdom, just for the purpose of watching a stage performance. As he made his way towards the central plaza, suddenly, something caught his eye. Up above in the skies...was an airship! it was a much different experience seeing an airship from the ground rather then riding one.

The Black Mage's attention was too drawn by the airship in the sky that he failed to notice someone walking by. "Hey! watch it you little cretin!" says the rude passer-by, meeting up with a friend ahead. "Hey, do you see it!? that's the airship that's going to be performing at the castle tonight. Who are the performers again? something, something..." says the friend of the rude fellow that pushed by the young Mage. "The airship's the Prima Vista and the performers are the rising upwards stars-the Tantalus troupe! come on, remember this already!" says the rude passer-by to his friend.

"Oh. Yeah them! I tell ya, those guys are going to go places and literally too. Think about it, if they hit it big with the queen and the princess tonight, think about the endorsements. Endorsements!" says the friend before both he and the rude passer-by share haughty laughs between one another and move on ahead...leaving the Mage in literal dirt and mud. "...Hey. Hey! you okay there!?" says a unusual looking boy around the same age as the Black Mage. "...Y-Yea?" says the Mage in reply. "Oh good! I thought you kicked the bucket there. Those jerks! bunch of idiots visiting from Treno for the show. I swear, those types are all alike." says the boy, helping up the Mage with an offering hand.

The Mage accepts the gesture and is helped up to his feet. "The name's Puck. I'm looking for a servant, want the job?" says the youth named Puck with his sudden offer out of the blue. "S-Sure. But...I'm from Treno…" says the Mage, twiddling his thumbs. Wondering if being from Treno would be a problem. "Wha!? really!? huh. Fancy that. I wouldn't have guessed from those shabby clothes. Guess you must have hitchhiked onboard an airship here huh? don't worry. I did the same, I won't tell a soul." says Puck, revealing how he arrived at Alexandria. "N-No..." the Mage tries to speak up otherwise about actually buying a ticket on the airship he rode here from Treno to Alexandria...but Puck spoke too much to properly listen.

"Well!? you want to see the show don't you!? come on! follow me!" says Puck, running on ahead towards the plaza. "! W-Wait up!" says the Mage, trying to follow after Puck. The former manages to catch up with his new "friend" observing the kingdom surroundings. "So, this is Alexandria huh? heh, not bad. It's got nothing on the splendour of my home though, that's for sure." says Puck, making a comparison between Alexandria and his own kingdom of origin. "...W-Where do you come from?" says the Mage, hesitant to ask. "Huh? me? uh...well anyways!" says Puck, deciding not to answer.

"So my new servant. How did you plan on seeing the show?" says Puck, returning a question with his own. "! W-With this..." says the Mage, showing a shabby looking ticket. "Huh, fancy that. I didn't know they still made fakes these days..." says Puck, revealing to the Mage that his ticket was actually a fake. "!? F-F-FAKE!?" says the Mage in comical shock. "Yeah, fake. Anyone with good eyes can spot them a mile away...you got duped my servant, ha ha!" says Puck, "mocking" the Black Mage. "N-NO..." says the young Mage, starting to cry from finding out this unsettling revelation...

"!? H-Hey. Easy on the waterworks there, you're a man aren't you!? sigh. Okay, okay look. I'll give you my cards here I picked up. Will you stop the crying!? geez..." says Puck, showing a more kinder side towards the Mage by trying to help him out with a gesture of a pack of cards. "! R-Really? I can...have these?" says the Mage, unsure whether or not to accept the cards. "Yes! if it stops your sniffling then take them already. Alright, what to do now? hmm...since we both have fakes. I was planning to watch the show from INSIDE the castle to begin with! heh." says Puck, having a bold plan in mind.

"!? WHAT!?" shouts out the Mage before Puck pulls down the former's pointy hat to keep away attention. "Hey shut up, you dang fool! honestly. You...you're a real handful for a servant, you know that? first the waterworks and then the surprised reaction. You make it sound like you've never gone on an adventure at your age before. Don't you think it makes things exciting!? I know it sure does for me!" says Puck, having a romance both for and of adventure. "I-I wouldn't call danger exciting..." says the Mage, not liking the ideas involved with the word adventure. "Don't you want to live a little!? without living, what's the point!? bah. I can tell my words are wasted on a chicken like yourself...just follow me! I'll show you the spirit of adventure!" says Puck, intending to help the Mage gain a liking for adventuring.

"By the way, I never asked for your name. You got one?" says Puck, just now remembering the fact that he never asked for the name of his "servant". The Mage then replies by answering "...V-Vivi. Vivi Ornitier…" says the Mage, introducing himself as Vivi. "Huh, a bit of a strange name but what the hey. Sounds better then "plucky Puck" at least. Alright! follow me Vivi! I'll get us to the castle!" says Puck, running off again with Vivi once more following. They hide behind the corner of an alleyway when they see someone working on a ladder. "Hmm...that ladder...it's perfect! okay, wait for my signal..." says Puck, telling Vivi to remain on standby. The former takes a stone...and uses it to throw at the sign that the man was fixing! Puck's actions astound Vivi of how "brave" they are...

"Ah dagnabbit! those hoodlums! mess with me again will they!?" says the man on the ladder, climbing down it to chase after whomever he believed threw the stone at the sign he was trying to fix. Leaving the alleyway and the ladder behind, both Puck and Vivi make advantage of this. "Okay Vivi! you keep watch in case that guy comes back. Me? I'm gonna nab us a ladder!" says Puck, heading to the ladder before Vivi could say anything. With no choice but to keep watch, Puck then returns with the ladder. "Okay, I've got us our entryway. Let's mosey like there's no tomorrow Vivi!" says Puck, running off without a care in the world.

Before Vivi could catch up, someone whispers around the corner. "Hey kid, yeah you. You know Puck? right scallywag that one is. He needed my help in order to get to Alexandria. And after helping him, you know what he did? he abandoned me just like that! where's the thanks I get huh? anyways. Name's Alleyway Jack. You be careful around that one, if he sees someone worth his interest, he'll use them. Once he's done with them, he'll leave them in a pinch just like that. Know what I mean? don't say I didn't warn you." says the both strange and mysterious shifty eyed individual, calling himself "Alleyway Jack". He takes his leave after imparting a warning...however Vivi-

"...I-I don't think Puck's like that. I only just met him...but. I can tell he's cool..." says Vivi, stating his first impression of Puck in the wake of Alleyway Jack's leave. "Hey pointy hat! where are you!? if you don't catch up, I'm gonna leave without you servant!" says Puck, calling out to Vivi at the opposite corner of the alley. Vivi hears Puck and goes to catch up after him. They meet at a rundown cathedral, where here...they meet a Moogle! "W-Wow! what a fuzzy pomp-pomp!" says Vivi, wanting to touch the Moogle's antenna. "KUPO! watch the pomp-pomp! no Moogle likes it when a stranger touches their pomp-pomp! KUPO!" says the Moogle, warning Vivi.

"O-Oh! please forgive me, I didn't know..." says Vivi, bowing in apology. "It's okay, I can tell tis your first time meeting a Moogle. KUPO! the name's Stiltzkin. Anyways, I'd better be heading off. Before I do, want to Save? it's always important for a person to Save their progress before heading out on a new journey. If they don't, they'll most surely regret it later!" says the Moogle Stiltzkin, talking about recording one's adventures in a diary so they will never forget the experiences they learned upon their respective journeys. "That's okay Mog. Where we're going, we won't need to Save. We'll be back in a jiffy!" says Puck, wanting to take his and Vivi's chances at the castle. "Hmm, a rogue in the midst do we have eh? well, don't say I didn't warn you." says the Moogle before tightly picking up his travelling kit and bowing towards Vivi. Stiltzkin then takes his leave...

"...Those words again..." says Vivi, hearing the same warning from both Alleyway Jack and the Moogle. Could it be a coincidence? he wondered. "Up the ladder here Vivi! then we use the makeshift ladder we got here to make way towards the castle. You ready? once we do this, there will be no turning back." says Puck, giving Vivi a final warning before moving on ahead. "!? B-But you just told the Moogle that we would be back in a jiffy!" says Vivi. "Of course I did! what I'm saying is just to build up excitement. You ready now? if you want to go back into town and get a few things in case of preparation then I'll wait here. Don't take too long though! we've got ourselves a show to watch!" says Puck, wondering what Vivi plans to do.

"...Do I head back? or...go with Puck? … I'll...take my chances. Okay master Puck, I'm ready. Let's mosey!" says Vivi, making his choice. "H-Hey! don't copy my expressions! also. Don't call me "master". I know you're my servant and everything...but please don't call me master hereon. Just Puck is fine...okay?" says Puck, making a request to Vivi. "!? O-Okay Puck!" says Vivi, a feeling inside him wells up that he never felt before. Was this...friendship? it was something that Vivi considered for a first guess at least. But now, first and foremost...I Want to Be Your Canary...was about to begin!
