"Sunny, time to get up!" The shiny treecko opened her eyes to see her brother waking her up again.
"Ugh," moaned Sunny, slowly getting out of her bed. She always wished school would start later so she could sleep in. Sunny walked over to her mirror and looked at herself to make sure she was looking good. She always saw her shiny reflection, as a blue-green treecko with a red tail rather than the normal green one. She both loved and hated being shiny. She loved it because she felt rare and unique, but she also hated the attention she gets because of it.
Sunny followed her brother into the kitchen of their condo, where her dad was making breakfast. Her brother was always hungry during breakfast time, but she never felt appetite during that hour.
"Good morning Sunny, good morning Spotty," said Sunny's dad, placing plates of berries on the kitchen table.
"Thanks dad," said Spotty, shoving a handful of berries into his mouth.
How?! Thought Sunny as she took a small bite out of one of her berries. She wouldn't eat at all if it weren't for the fact that she didn't want to be wasteful. Also because she heard so many Pokémon say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
After both of the treeckos plates were empty, they headed to school. They walked together through the city, with their trip there going peaceful and uneventful as always. When they got in the classroom, they saw the same thing they always saw; students sitting at their desks waiting for class to start. Amber and Galaxy, the hyped up torchic and totodile, were recklessly running around the classroom, knocking over the teachers' stuff. Lightning, the very childish pikachu, was on the floor throwing another tantrum.
"Yep, the usual," sighed Spotty as he sat in his seat. Sunny sat at her desk right next to him. Then, Mr. Alpine walked in the classroom.
"Amber! Galaxy! Lightning!" yelled the abomasnow, looking at what he had to deal with every day. Amber and Galaxy immediately returned to their seats and acted like nothing happened. Lightning continued screaming on the floor.
"Lightning! Please return to your seat!" yelled Mr. Alpine in frustration. Lightning didn't listen as he kept screaming. "Lightning! We need to start class!" yelled Mr. Alpine, looking like he had had enough of it. "Want me to send you to the principal?" asked Mr. Alpine, looking at Lightning.
"No no no!" yelled Lightning, immediately getting out of his tantrum and returning to his seat.
"Works every time," chuckled Mr. Alpine. "Alright, I will now be taking attendance," announced Mr. Alpine. Mr. Alpine called out everyone's name. It all went normal until he called the last name.
"Abby?" called Mr. Alpine. No response came from the amaura he was calling. "Abby? Abby?!" called Mr. Alpine. He was about to mark her absent when Otto, the pidgeotto messenger appeared at the doorway.
"Mr. Alpine, please come with me. We have a bit of a situation," said Otto.
"Ah, understand. Class, I'll be right back. Don't get into mischief!" said Mr. Alpine, following Otto out the door.
"Shall we resume our party?" asked Galaxy, looking at Amber.
"Yeah!" answered Amber, jumping into a wall. She ended up breaking through the wall, head first, causing the whole class to gasp.
"Oooh! You broke it! You are going to be in so much trouble!" laughed Albert, pointing his pancham paw at Amber while her head was still stuck in the wall.
"Someone help me! Can't you see I don't have arms!" yelled Amber, while her torchic feet were dangling. Albert and Mikayla continued laughing.
"Oh, right," said Galaxy, helping Amber get out of the hole.
"Hey Sunny, still believe in that Hoenn legend?" asked Albert, shifting his attention toward Sunny.
"Yeah, I will always believe in it!" replied Sunny.
"Wow, you are dumb! No one cares about humans anymore!" Mikayla sassily replied, looking at her weavile claws.
"You don't get it! Before the human world collided with the mystery dungeon world, it is said that in their world, humans had special bonds with Pokémon," argued Sunny.
"Don't you realize those could be lies! Anyone could have made that up! And you know why? Humans don't exist anymore! And very likely, the Pokémon were happy to see them go!" yelled Mikayla.
"Sunny, don't listen to them. They're just trying to make you upset!" said Spotty.
"No one asked you to be part of this conversation, so shut up!" yelled Mikayla, pointing her claw at Spotty.
"You know what Mikayla, I don't care what you say! I will always believe in Storm and May and the bond they had as Pokémon and trainer!" yelled Sunny, getting upset.
"Well guess what, even if they did exist, they don't anymore. May was a human, so of course she died in the collision. And even if Storm or any of Mays other Pokémon survived, they would have told everyone that the legend was true by now. So I'm sorry to break it to you, but you believe in something that doesn't exist," argued Mikayla.
"Ugh, just because they might not be alive now doesn't mean they ever were. You clearly don't know how to believe in stuff," argued Sunny.
Before Mikayla could respond, Mr. Alpine walked back in the room. A noticeable look of sadness was on his face.
"What happened?" asked Albert, looking at Mr. Alpine.
"It's… nothing," answered Mr. Alpine, though the class could tell that he was clearly hiding something. "Just adult stuff," he said as he looked up and saw the huge hole in the wall. "Who did that?" asked Mr. Alpine while sighing.
"Amber!" replied Albert.
"Amber, go to Mr. Coasts office now!" said Mr. Alpine, still in his sad tone.
"No, I will not face against his scolds! Especially for this!" yelled Amber, with clear fear pumping in her voice.
"Amber!" yelled Mr. Alpine in frustration.
"Ugh, fine!" moaned Amber, slowly getting up out of her seat and stomping out of the classroom.
"Okay, now that that is settled, I will be partnering you up in pairs to work on this math assignment I am going to give you. I have assigned the pairs for you, because letting you pick on your own is way too chaotic," explained Mr. Alpine.
Mr. Alpine picked up a piece of paper and read out the pairs. Sunny wondered who she was going to be paired with. After most of the names were read aloud, Sunny realized that she, along with one other Pokémon were the only two remaining. Sunny felt dread as she suddenly realized who she was going to be partnered with.
"Sunny and Mikayla," called Mr. Alpine.
Oh no! Thought Sunny.
"Seriously, I have to work with a loser like her," complained Mikayla.
"Mikayla, that was really rude! Apologize to Sunny right now!" said Mr. Alpine.
"Ugh, sorry," Mikayla said sarcastically. Mikayla pulled her chair toward Sunny's desk as Mr. Alpine gave them the papers.
Sunny and Mikayla sorted through the papers while trying to agree on who should do what part.
"So um, I can cut out the rectangular prism," said Sunny, trying to work out the situation.
"No, I'm doing that! If you really want to cut something, you can cut out the pyramid," replied Mikayla in her sassiness.
"Oh, okay," sighed Sunny, grabbing the paper pyramid net. She wasn't the best cutter, so she did make a few small mess ups while cutting, but ignored them knowing nothing can be perfect. When she was done, she folded it and put it on the desk. Mikayla picked it up and looked very closely at it. She then got up out of her seat holding the pyramid and started walking away. Sunny watched her, wondering why she was getting up. She then saw Mikayla throw her pyramid in the trash can. Sunny angrily got up and walked toward Mikayla.
"Hey, what are you doing?" asked Sunny with anger.
"Your pyramid was garbage. The sides were so uneven. You clearly don't know how to cut! I will be doing all the cutting while you can do the equations and writing," answered Mikayla.
"Hey! That's not fair. My cutting may not be the best, but I would still like to do it. It is more fun than solving equations and writing! How about we split each job," argued Sunny, pulling her pyramid out of the trash.
"No! You clearly proved that you couldn't do it. You deserve to do the boring parts because you are an idiot who believes humans were kind to Pokémon," said Mikayla, walking back toward her seat.
"Stop saying that!" yelled Sunny, launching an Energy Ball at Mikayla. The entire class stopped what they were doing and stared at Sunny. Sunny started immediately regretting what she did.
"You want a piece of me? Okay, challenge accepted!" shouted Mikayla, throwing an Ice Shard at Sunny. Sunny didn't want to use a move on Mikayla again, but did for her self defense. Soon, an intense fight was happening between Sunny and Mikayla. Mr. Alpine intervened as soon as he could, cutting the battle short.
"You two are going to Mr. Coast's office!" yelled Mr. Alpine, standing between Sunny and Mikayla to prevent them from attacking each other.
"Oh come on! Sunny started it!" yelled Mikayla, pointing to Sunny.
"Mikayla, both of you were fighting, so both of you are going to the office!" yelled Mr. Alpine, clearly running out of patience.
"Ugh, fine!" yelled Mikayla, storming out of the classroom door.
"Okay," sighed Sunny, feeling guilty because she usually never misbehaves in class. Sunny followed Mikayla with her head facing the ground. They walked through the halls towards Mr. Coast's office. Sunny felt dread because she had heard really bad things about Mr. Coast from her classmates.
Hopefully, I'll survive! Sunny thought to herself as she and Mikayla approached Mr. Coast's door. They could already hear yelling.
"What were you thinking, young lady?! That the walls could just repair themselves?! That the cleaners could just fix the walls like it's as simple as cleaning off a mess on the floor?! Well guess what, you are wrong! Fixing a wall isn't simple! You will have to pay for us to hire construction workers to fix that wall, which will take time! You should be very ashamed of yourself!" Mr. Coast yelled, loud enough for Sunny and Mikayla to hear clearly through the door. Sunny knew that she was going to be next in hearing these scolds.
"Now get back to class!" Mr. Coast yelled at the top of his lungs. The door opened and Amber walked out, looking very exhausted. Sunny walked over and saw the very angry carracosta on the other side of the door.
"Oh please don't tell me you two were misbehaving as well!" yelled Mr. Coast, crossing his flippers.
"Sorry, we kind of were," sighed Sunny.
"Why did you have to tell him that! We could have gotten away with saying we weren't and we're just here to pick up Amber!" yelled Mikayla, looking at Sunny.
"I'm just being honest!" said Sunny.
"Both of you! Come inside my office now!" shouted Mr. Coast, pointing his flipper inside the office. Sunny and Mikayla slowly walked into the carracostas office. "Move faster!" yelled Mr. Coast.
"So, what did you two do?!" yelled Mr. Coast.
"We um, kind of got into a fight," started Sunny.
"A fight?! Are you serious?! This place is for learning, not fighting!" shouted Mr. Coast.
"Well, she started it! She was the one who used Energy Ball on me!" yelled Mikayla, pointing at Sunny.
"Sunny! This school has talked many times about how you are not allowed to use moves on your teachers or classmates unless instructed otherwise! As for you Mikayla, two wrongs don't make a right and you shouldn't have attacked back!" shouted Mr. Coast.
The scolding went on, exhausting both Mikayla and Sunny. They both had to cover their ears at one point, but Mr. Coast immediately yelled at them to put their hands down. Sunny thought that this was never going to end.
"And that's why you-" started Mr. Coast when he was suddenly interrupted by the door opening.
"Oh hey Mr. Coast. Sorry to interrupt you, but I want to inform you that a flying Pokémon just crashed into a building and now that building is on fire," said Otto, standing at the doorway.
"What kind of flying idiot would crash into a building?" laughed Mikayla.
"We don't know, but some witnesses think it was the legendary Moltres," explained Otto.
"The legendary Moltres?!" shouted Sunny in shock.
"We don't know for sure since rescuers have not found the Pokémon that crashed yet, but that could explain why the building was set on fire. Some witnesses are even saying that they also saw Articuno!" explained Otto.
This is crazy! Thought Sunny, still trying to process what she just heard.
"Mr. Coast, we need to let everyone know about this and have a further discussion on everything that is happening right now. You should probably dismiss these students back to class," suggested Otto.
"Fine," sighed Mr. Coast. "Sunny, Mikayla, get back to class. No more fighting!" Said Mr. Coast in a very direct voice. Sunny and Mikayla walked out of Mr. Coast's office back to their classroom.
Sunny spent the rest of the school day sitting through lessons with a lot on her mind. She felt guilty because she got in trouble and was sent to Mr. Coast's office for the first time ever. She was also worried about what her dad would say when he finds out about this. Sunny was also thinking about what she heard about Moltres. She wondered if it was really true that Moltres had crashed into a building and why Moltres crashed. There was one more thing that Sunny noticed that kept hitting her from the back of her mind. When Mr. Coast was scolding her and Mikayla, she noticed something off about him. At an immediate glance, he was a very angry carracosta. But upon looking closer, Sunny noticed a slight hint of sadness deep in his eyes. Sunny wasn't sure if he really was secretly sad about something or if she was just bad at reading emotions.
When the final class was over, Sunny met up with her brother and they started their routine walk home.
