The Audino was still laying on her side staring out of the hospital window. Her face was a little sticky with salt from the tears, but she was almost completely dry. Inside and out.

It probably had been about an hour since she heard the news. A gentle knock sounded on her door before a pokemon she had her back to came in.

"Miss Agatha. We need to change out your bandages and the like. It will only take a moment."

Audino returned to laying on her back in response and looked at the pokemon. It was a Flaaffy carrying a roll of bandages to her right side and a white bottle on the other. She looked at Agatha with a look she didn't understand, but Agatha shrugged it off.

"Ok," Agatha answered.

Audino sat up and moved her body around for new bandages. The Flaaffy explained to her that they were second and third degree burns, and that she would need to wear compression garments that fit like skin.

She tried to put it gently that Agatha would need to wear them for some months, and that she would have a lot of scarring and need physical therapy. None of what she said bothered her in the slightest. She couldn't find much to care about with it at all.

She did care about her legs a lot, though. After the Flaaffy had finished working, she spoke up anxiously. "What about my feet? What's going to happen?"

"You have prostheses being made for your feet. All of your important and complex bones like your ankles were still intact, so your quality of life should be affected very minimally by that after you get used to them. You won't be impaired permanently, but we hope to have you remain happy in however your body looks. You deserve to."

"My looks isn't a big deal," Agatha frowned. "Thank you."

"Alright," Flaaffy said quietly. "Oh, and more thing. The yellow button on the ground there is for discomfort, and the red button is for any emergency. Feel free to use the yellow button to call for anything you'd like."

Agatha hadn't noticed to two buttons on the side of her mattress before and thanked her again before she left.

She fell asleep again very slowly. Staring out the window couldn't keep her attention, so it faded away. She thought about what she wanted to do next other than get better.

Agatha's sleep was interrupted by her hunger. She pushed the yellow button, and the same Flaaffy responded to it. After asking for food, she came back with a huge variety of good food on a tray she was carrying over her head.

"What happened to my house?" Agatha asked. "Do you know?"

"Most of it burned down. After the fire was put out, it was left as is for you to decide what to do with. What's left all belongs to you."

"When can I go see it?" Agatha asked.

"Uhm, you were in a coma," Flaaffy reiterated. "You need time."

"I want to go as soon as possible," Agatha said. "I feel like I can't think straight. That's all I want to do."

"If you push your body right now, it will break down."

"But can't someone take me there?"

Audino reeled back a bit from how loud her voice came out. Flaaffy's expression didn't change, but Audino could tell she was thinking.

"If you go, you are not going to move and will have capable company. There's no cost to worry about with the health and life insurance, but please take some time to think about this. There's no rush."

Agatha went silent for a short moment. She thought heavily before she decided to ask a question.

"Does anyone else know how the fire started?"

"No, it's a mystery... Do you know!?" Flaaffy asked hastily.

"There's technology I can't leave alone there. I need to investigate."

"But you're only fourteen according to our records. How much can you do?"

"I can do enough."

The Flaaffy didn't hesitate in her reply for long. "You're the only one who could know what it's all for. Just be careful. I'll call preparations together."

Audino ate a lot while she waited. Her stomach felt completely empty, so she must have been given something to stay alive during her coma some other way. Based on how she woke up with nothing attached to her, they were somewhat expecting her to wake up soon. She didn't feel energized, but did feel about normal after eating.

The Flaaffy continually updated her until it was time to leave. This time, a Mudbray was next to her. The Mudbray bent down, and the Flaaffy helped her get on top of it. Being small and the Mudbray's body staying perfectly stable gave her the impression she was easy to carry.

As they left the gray hallways of the hospital, the Flaaffy explained that the nearby forest was to crowded with foliage to go by an electric carriage. The Bayleef counselor, Flaaffy, and an Azumarill that was a doctor were also going with her.

The hospital was a lot smaller than she thought it was once she went outside. The building only seemed to have three or four levels to it, and there wasn't much activity in the hallways when they left out.

The Bayleef caught the Audino staring back while they went down the small, stone street and explained the building. "It's a small hospital meant to help with trauma survivors. You were sent here just two days ago when we were sure you were going to wake up sometime soon. Are you sure you want to go?"

"Yeah."

There were already lots of trees in the area, but once they left the small town area there was nothing but trees and bushes in sight. The Bayleef and Azumarill occasionally exchanged small talk while the Mudbray just focused on carrying Audino gently.

Although Agatha hadn't been to the small town before, she was familiar with it being there had an accurate guess for how far it was from her home. After about twenty minutes of walking, a clearing appeared up ahead in the forest.

Agatha wasn't expecting much, but was very surprised nothing was standing except for the dry, marble fountain the front. To the left of the rubble was especially charred. The only thing on the ground was blackened soil.

The device with the four pillars and steel panel on the ground in the middle was still standing, but had no wires attached and slightly burnt portions on different parts of it.

"Could we go up closer to those pillars?" Audino asked the Mudbray.

"Wherever you'd like," he said.

The Mudbray brought her closer towards the steel panel. After asking, he circled around with her on his back while she observed the device. Nothing specifically stood out to her.

"Could we get that steel panel up off the ground?" Agatha called out. "I want to take it apart."

The Azumarill and Bayleef looked at each other quickly and gave signs of agreement. Agatha told them how to untie the ropes on each edge of the square that held it down.

After that, they all scoured the area looking until they found a slightly burnt screwdriver. Familiar with tools, the Azumarill used it to take off the steel screen revealing the mess of machinery below.

Agatha glazed over the mess of wires and gears with her eyes. She didn't like what she saw. The machinery looked completely undamaged. It was reasonable that it worked perfectly.

Not enough electricity was used to create the explosions that started the fire. When she looked at the whole scene, the only direction from the machine that was hit with the explosions was towards the house.

"That can't be. No."

Azumarill and Bayleef turned their attention her from the complex machinery. "Do you know something?" the Bayleef asked.

They were trying to make a connection to a Legendary pokemon after years and years of studying old practices. Because everyone in the family had nightmares about something being wrong with it. Except for her.

The Audino looked at the Azumarill and Bayleef and made her face go back to normal from whatever it was.

"I don't think so. Sorry."

"You don't need to lie," Bayleef said. "You can just not tell us. Simple as that. We understand."

Most pokemon didn't believe in Legendary pokemon. And her family's connection to the world as a type of fortune teller was a secret. She was frustrated. But she nodded and accepted the Bayleef's offer.

"Could you organize things so I can work on this device when I'm a little more ready?" Agatha asked.

"Of course. I'll have someone store it today,"Azumarill said. "I'd also like to talk with you about your future living arrangements and the situation with your funds. Nothing to worry about there, though."

"Just don't rush yourself. You're going through a lot," Bayleef added.

"Yeah," Agatha said distantly.

"Where do you want to go next?" the Mudbray asked her.

"Let's go back. I'm getting tired, and we don't really have any keepsakes."

Agatha could barely contain a fire in her chest. A force that was living suddenly owned enough hate to down their whole world. And she would.
