Authors note: So for those of you who wish for this story to remain a one shot, well, the first chapter will be your stopping point, so that there will be the Valentine's Day. Any who wish for this story to be something more it starts for you here. It will be set that same night and thus start the story, so, either way you'd have read the first chapter before coming here. The plot…if you recall the government created the Z-Band to keep the Zombies in line and keep them from their normal feeding tendencies, and, if tampered with or if the software becomes corrupt it can cut through all protective measures ensuring Zombies must brains…is a go. What if however someone was able to weaponize this, take one Zombie…place them somewhere that isn't the town of Seabrook…it could mean that Zombies could be in some serious trouble. It all starts on the night of Valentine's Day…and for Addison and Zed, it is going to shhh, welp don't wish to spoil anything. Again set before the second film.
CH.1: The first part happened
Zed watches as Addison leaves and he is left with a sense of pride and fulfillment over how far the two have come. A Zombie and a Human, wow, things were really looking up. Yeah it took a bit but barriers were being broken and someday there would be world recognition of the endeavors here and who knows…maybe instead of a Z-Band there'd be a pill to swallow to affect their mind over having to live with this as a reminder of who they are or were.
"So…the first part happened, yeah, case you were wondering Addison and I did kiss. I think that might have been the first kiss shared between a human and zombie, oh yeah not going to get tired of saying that. Oh right. I'm Zed, not sure you guys remember me but I'm kind of a big deal, helped bring the whole Zombie and Human scene to a rest…or…well making baby steps in the right direction. Ever since that day Zombies have been met with open arms instead of open arms but you know running away from you. Addison and I just had our first date, well, ok not really first date but one where we were alone and away from people."
Zed continues to walk but he can sense…unease, no, maybe that was just him. He had been talking out in the blue cause that is what he did or do, darn could have saved that. Movement in the brush could be heard and he tensed as all sense told him to run. If he adjusted his Z-Band, no, too risky and could be a dog.
"Hey, uh, it is ok little guy…I'm a friendly Zombie," Zed takes a few steps and that is when a net is shot towards him and he is tangled up in it, the speed alone enough to topple him over. Electric shots explode forth ensnaring him and he rolls about on the ground twitching and yelling out.
"Sure…keep telling yourself that. I am Special Agent Wilson of the U.S. Government part of the Secret Base for which you do not need to know its name."
"So, uggggggggh, what he is basically telling me is…keep my mouth shut and he will tell me more when we get there, least that is what I think he is saying." Zed can feel the pain ebbing down but even then he can see others coming forth, all dressed in the same fatigues and all of them with their weapons drawn.
"You be a good zombie and maybe when we get there you will learn more." Zed gave a blank expression but it was clear he was quite spot on about his impression of the situation.
"Sure, just, is the net necessary? Also I've done nothing wrong…in fact I have made things quite more open here than when it was more hostile, you are welcome-."
"Do you ever hit mute?" The guy towers over him as he appears to be ready to burst a blood vessel.
"Now I know this is the part where I should be quiet, but, given my situation how can I not?" Zeke clears his throat. "I believe the term is…do I ever go mute, but I will let it slip given you have the high ground-."
"Night!" Zeke saw the weapon come down on him and he lost consciousness. Well, for the most part, he did know they loaded him onto some van and as they drove off into the night he was pretty clear he heard a gate…so…he was leaving but to where and what did they want with him anyway?
Addison awoke the next day with a smile on her face. Last night had to be the best night in her life. Absolutely the best, no, bestest, oh who was she kidding it was sensational.
"Oh hi, Addison here and still glowing after that kiss. Zeke kissed me and we shared Valentine's, ok so I shared mine and he forgot but his words were still sweet. I didn't get a morning text from him but he is probably playing with his sister Zoey. I got her an actual dog not that long ago so she often takes him out on walks in the morning."
Addison went to change and skipped down the steps feeling alive and free. No longer donning a wig she was free to be the real her. White hair and still a cheerleader at that. Bucky had said little on the change and she appreciated him all the more for it. True she and Bucky did not see eye to eye at times but they were still family.
"Good morning mom and dad! Isn't today glorious?" She went to pour herself her usual cereal and couldn't help smiling while doing so.
"I take it Valentine's went well yesterday? So…you and this, Zed, still a thing?" Her mother asked nearly stumbling over his name. Her mother was the Mayor of the town.
"Why yes mom…we are, and, we kissed too!" She looked down and had to adjust the rate at which the cereal was coming out.
"You kissed a Zombie? Do you realize how many germs a zombie has?" Her father quipped up nearly rising from his chair but at her mother's insistence he sits back down. Her father was Dale, Chief of the Zombie Patrol, not that there was any need as the Zombies were not causing any trouble right now.
Missy her mother of course believed that while there was no immediate threat that one couldn't be too careful so she still had her father making patrols and ensuring that the Z-Bands weren't tampered with in anyway, likely to avoid incidents such as those with Zed some time ago.
"Dad please there is nothing wrong with kissing a Zombie. By the way dad you wouldn't know why Zed didn't text me would you?" Addison had noticed her father during this entire conversation and he kept checking his phone.
"Oh, um, no real reason…huh, oh you have no reason to worry about his safety…" Addison started as something that didn't make sense suddenly rang clear and she strode over covering the few steps to her father.
"Why would I need to worry about his safety? WHAT DID YOU DO?" Addison was not one to raise her voice but when her Zombie boyfriend didn't text her or even let her know that he made it home safely she had every reason to yell.
"Now honey please be reasonable here…I am the Chief of Zombie Patrol and as such, well, a curfew is still a curfew and when I get a report from the Government-."
"Hold up, the Government, are we talking about the same one who created the Z-Bands that keep the Zombies in line? You, how long…tell me!" Addison slammed her hand on the table and her hair appeared to flicker but just as suddenly it vanished as she leveled off as her mother looked at her.
"Addison…your hormones are out of control, please let your father explain himself." Addison walked to the counter and folded her arms fixing her father with a stare.
Dale appeared to fix his tie and stood up as he appeared to be on the spot. "I have been in contact with the Government the entire time the whole Zombie Rise began. I had an obligation no a duty to do so. Turns out they were quite interested in…Zed…and thus knowing you were out with him, and for the record kiddo we parents do have apps to track you…I let the know about his route home and they took it from there-."
"Dad…I used to look up to you, I used to think, hey my dad isn't a monster…but turns out I was wrong! Did you even consider the fact that he has a father and a sister waiting for him to come home? You have just done the most unforgiveable thing ever."
Addison stormed out of the kitchen and raced as hard as her lungs would carry her. She only stopped when she was far enough away and began to break down crying. Zed…where are you?
Authors note: The plot thickens as Zed awaits him at the hands of the Government while Addison reeling from what her father has done struggles to keep it together. Far as the hair bit, thought I'd have a bit of fun there, those who saw Zombies 2 saw something almost similar but in different circumstances, will not go into the hair too much so don't worry.
