"... We halt our regularly timed news for breaking new events. The body of the hero, All Might, or Toshinori Yagi, was found underneath the city in a government testing area. He left behind a wife, Inko Midoriya, and a stepson, Izuku Midoriya. Where the funeral will be held, Ms. Midoriya won't say at the time. Izuku hasn't been found available to interview, though his mother says this is just because this whole experience was traumatic to him. We hope that we can interview him soon. Now back to our normal news broadcast, Herb"

Izuku sat gloomily at the table, stirring his cereal slightly. His mother turned off the TV, and sat across from him. "You don't have to go to school today, Izuku-"

"Yes, I do. I'll see you later this week, ok, Mom?" Izuku picked up his bags, and kissed his mother on her cheek on the way out.

As soon as he stepped foot on the campus of UA, he was ambushed by his roommate, Tenya Iida.

"MIDORIYA! WHY DID YOU SNEAK OUT LAST NIGHT?" he said, making very stiff and robotic movements with his arms.

"Geez... you really don't keep up with the news..." Izuku said, pulling out his phone and showing a news article to his gesturing friend.

"...Midoriya... why didn't you tell me?" Iida grasped Izuku into a tight hug. "We don't want to be late for class, however! We'll talk about this later."

After classes, all Izuku wanted to do was sob. He lost his stepdad and his mentor in one night. Iida hugged him once more, checked his homework, and released the sad, green mop. Izuku wandered down the halls, when a new student caught his eye. He walked over to introduce himself, and he realized, 'OH NO- SHE'S HOT--'.

"H-howdy- welcome to UA!" he said as he extended a hand.

She grasped it and said, "Thank you! I'm Ochako Uraraka, and you are?"

"HEY! DEKU!"

Oh no, not Kacchan-

"How's school going, nerd?"

"F-fine, Kacchan-"

"ALRIGHT! NOW GO, NERD!" I"'m sorry for the loss though", he added in a whisper, as he walked off.

"What was that all about, Deku-kun?"

"Th-that's not really my name... my name is Izuku Midoriya, Deku is a pet name Kacchan gave me, and it's kind of an insult..."

"Well, I think it sounds cool! Like... you can do it!"

"YOU CAN CALL ME DEKU-"

"Well, I will see you later! Bye, Deku-kun~!"

Izuku waved by and pumped his fist. Achievement Unlocked: Conversing with a Girl.

After school, he went home and got dressed for the funeral in a few hours. He had to make a speech, eugh. Iida was always trying to make him write speeches, and here, he needed it, but Iida was also preparing, so no help there. The dreaded time soon came, and Izuku stood sheepishly at the podium.

"H-hello? Good morning, everyone, and thank you for showing up today. Mr. Yagi, er, Dad was, uh, my stepdad, after my old dad went missing. I didn't know he was All Might, but either way, he was as much of a hero being himself. I remeber how he would try to help with my math in middle school, eventually having to resort to calling Mom over. He was almost always busy, but always made sure to be home for dinner, and always had time to talk about All Might, which I guess was easy for him to divulge small secrets to me, because, he was All Might. Did you know All Might likes to hum Yankee Doodle while his eating noodles? I miss his vibrant personality, and floof ball of hair, and he'll always be my father. Thank you for listening to me..." Izuku said, stepping off the podium, and hearing solemn clapping at his speech.

He sat by the coffin, and started to cry, which was largely unnoticed by the crowd.

After the ceremony and the coffin visits from the crowd, he spotted Uraraka and Iida and talked with them. Uraraka and Izuku exchanged numbers, and they proceeded to the burial at the back of the cathedral. Izuku went home and sobbed the rest of the day with his mother, not noticing that the drive his stepdad gave him was broken during his flight the last night...
