Words Aren't Enough
Chapter 2
The hustle and bustle of New York City quieted once the door to the resturant closed behind her.
Brooke walked over to the hostess desk. And attempted to calm down the nervousness in her voice.
"Reservations for two. It should be under the last name Scott." She said.
The hostess smiled grabbed two menus and lead the way through the already seated diners.
She handed Brooke a menu and focused her gaze.
"Mr. Scott was awaiting you. He refused to order or look at a menu until you arrived. Here are you're food and beverage menus." She said.
The two looked over the menus picked out their meals and drinks handed the menus back over to the waitress.
"I'll be back as soon as i can." She said. Turning from them as she walked towards the kitchen.
The two looked to each other then away.
"The flowers as an early morning surprise on my desk at the store was very sweet." Brooke said.
Lucas smiled up at her. "It was a small gesture of appreciation for you showing up at my book signing. That meant more then you know." He said.
The expression on her face softened.
"We have never really gotten to know each other in a real way and i was hopeful that this dinner tonight could change things." Brooke said.
"I would like that. I want to know everything about you." Lucas admitted.
"I want that too. So let's talk." Brooke said.
And they did that. For hours through their meal until the resturnt closed hours later.
Present Time
Brooke closed the door to the kitchen and looked to him.
"We don't know each other. We are simply running into each other at the these wedding events. The couple getting married are our best friends. It's only natural that we would be here together." Brooke said.
"Look i don't give a damn whether Nathan knows about us being friends or not. We are adults and can be civil for the sake of Peyton and Jake." Lucas said.
"I agree. We are adults and can and will act in that way. The rehersal dinner is in a matter of hours." Brooke said.
"How should we pass the time.?" Lucas asked.
"I'll leave that for you to decide." Brooke said.
"You look pretty. That dress. You." He said.
Brooke gazed up at him feeling herself blush.
"Thank you look very handsome. I see you didn't bring a date." Brooke said.
Lucas focused his gaze on her. "I wouldn't not here or at the wedding especially since the woman i want is right in front of me." He confessed.
Brooke leaned over kissing him.
Lucas kissed her back. Pulling her closer to him.
The sound of footsteps caused the two to break apart.
And quickly pull themselves together.
