MosaicTale: The Fractured Soul

When you look at a Stained Glass window or a Mosaic, what do you see? Do you see only mismatched pieces and parts? Do you see a mess? Or do you see the story they have to tell? This story follows the frisk of this world. She is one such mosaic...Let's call her Alyssa. Will her soul ever be whole, or will she break apart and vanish?

Notes: I really love the Momma CQ world and Uncle Asy! I may get to them in this chapter, maybe not depending how long it takes me to write to that point.

Summary: About half a year after the first chapter, Big Brothers Sans and Papyrus go missing. Alyssa's Soul starts to grow unstable and her father fears the worst. However, that is only the tip of the iceburg. A mysterious figure starts killing monsters left and right, heading right for the lab. Who is he, and why is he doing this?

Alyssa's POV

"I'm sorry, Gaster. The whole underground has been searched ten times over. The only explanation is that they were dusted. No monster can go through the barrier alone. You know that better than anyone else." Undyne says sadly. I'm hugging onto my father crying. My brothers...gone...just like that? Why? "Daddy...my soul hurts..." I say feeling my soul feel like its breaking. He looks down at me concerned. "Worlds above, no...no, I can't lose you too." He says and runs deeper into the lab, carrying me. "ALPYS! Get the stablizers. NOW!" father yells as he gently puts me onto my bed as the pain starts to get worse.

Alphys rushes into the room with the drip to stabilize my soul. My father gently pulls my soul out. "I-It's star-rted..." Alphys says sadly as Father attaches the IV to my soul. "No...No...No...I can't...I can't lose her...Please...don't take her too..." I can barely make out my father say. "Professor, I-I-It will be best if you calm do-own. T-the s-stress is no good for Alys-s-sa" Alphys says and my father starts to take deep breaths. "You...you are right, Alphys." He says and sighs sitting beside me. "At a-any rate, H-her hp is r-rising back to a normal level aga-ain. Soul is stable...for now." Alphys says looking at a tablet. The pain starts to lessen as I drift into sleep.

Dream Start

I look around. I'm in what I believe is Waterfall. Undyne sometimes brought echo flowers from waterfall for me. I realize that I am no longer hurting. "There you are, child. I wondered if we ever get to talk" I hear a familar voice say. I turn around to see seven different humans of different ages. One is my age, a couple are father's age, and the rest are much older. "Kate?" I ask and a woman my father's age comes over. She has brown hair with bright, blue eyes. I can see the shards of her soul that make up my own. Each human's soul is incomplete, missing parts. Kate kneels down to look me in the eye. "We are truly sorry, Alyssa. We've had a...disagreement. It has caused you pain" She says and hugs me.

"You were fighting? Why?" I ask and the human with the red shards comes over. She looks to be the oldest of them. "I am Frisk, little Alyssa. I'm the one that your physical form decided to take after...We...We were arguing about your brothers...we heard they went missing" Frisk says. "Since your creation, we have vowed to keep calm, allowing ourselves to sync together. It has been becoming increasingly difficult with the loss of the love off your brothers." The kid with the green shards says. He has red hair and green eyes. "I...I don't want to dis...disappear..." I say starting to cry. I know what is going to happen. Big brother Sans made sure father explained it to me. If the shards break apart...I will disappear as those that came before me did. "Pl-please...I want to live...please don't take me from daddy!" I cry as Kate holds me.

"You are by far, the kindest soul that has come from us. We can also see your determination, your patience and perseverance, your integrity. You have a long way to go before we are completely in sync with you, but we will not let you die, Alyssa" another voice says as a man with the purple shards comes over. "We will try our best to get along." He says and rubs my head gently. "Rune, that's pretty optimistic, even for you" The man with the yellow soul says. "Harley, what justice is there in killing a child. None. You must get along with Val. If not for us, then for this child's sake." Rune replies. The yellow soul, Harley sighs rubbing his head. "Fine...I will try." He says. "Alyssa, stay determined, persevere. We will always be with you" Frisk says with a sweet smile.

Dream end

I wake up to my father and Undyne talking. "It's not like any monster I've seen. It started killing in the ruins and is making its way here, Gaster. It's not safe." Undyne says. "W-we could go into the orig-ginal lab, Pro-professor. Not m-m-many know it ex-xists. It m-m-may be safer there." I hear Alphys say. "Alyssa is too weak to be moved, Alphys. She hasn't woken up for two weeks." Father says. 'I was asleep for that long? Father must be worried' I think. "Da-daddy?" I call out weakly and i hear him come over quickly. "Worlds above, Alyssa! We were so worried about you" He says and hugs me to him. "S-sorry daddy...Frisk and the others wanted to talk" I say and he looks down at me. "Frisk...she came to you?" He asks and I nod. Father sighs and holds me close. "Frisk was a dear friend. She was the last of the humans to pass away. She was too determined to die young" He says with a small chuckle.

The lab shakes as the entrance is blown open. "That bastard made it here quicker than I thought! Gaster, get Alyssa into the original lab! Now!" Undyne says and runs off to head the killer off. "Profes-s-s-or, please, we must go. Undyne can only hold him off for so long." Alphys says and he nods. Father gently picks me up and quickly follows Alphys to the elevator. "Metta said he w-w-would guard the elevator, but I have my doubts he will be much good against this foe" Alphys says and my Father nods. "Daddy...why is he doing this?" I ask weakly. "I have no idea, Alyssa, but I will not let him hurt you, my child" He says as we reach the bottom floor. Alphys leads us deeper into the lab to the core. "T-this is the farthest from him r-r-right now. profes-s-sor...If he gets down here...you must teleport away with Alyssa." Alphys says. "We have no idea how that will affect Alyssa. It could tear her soul apart, Alphys" My father says.

"Then...use the core...it's the only way. T-the k-killer can't kill what no longer exists in this un-universe" Alphys says and head off towards the elevator. I cling to my father as he starts to prepare the machine. "I had hoped this machine would never be used again...but we truly have no other options" he says. We soon hear a scream. "Alphys..." I whimper and Father hold me tight. "He's too fast...the machine won't be ready in time..." Father says and hides me behind some boxes. "Stay here and stay quiet, Alyssa" He says and kisses my head before standing in the center of the room. The lab is deadthly silent as my Father just stands there waiting for the killer. "Alyssa, look away...I do not wish for you to see this" He says and I hundle behind the boxes, wrapping my arms around my knees.

"So...You finally made it here. I'm impressed, but your killing spree ends here and now" My father says as footsteps come into the room. "I-I-I don't think so. This world will burn and die. It will be erased like the Glitch it is. Matters not if you live or die. There is nothing left to fight for. No humans...No other monsters...not even that talking flower in the ruins is left" A dark, cruel voice says and I have to cover my mouth so my sobs don't reveal my hiding place. "You are wrong. As long as I live, there is always something to fight for, Error. That's your name, right? Fitting, now that I see you for myself" Father says and they start to fight. Tears flow down my face as I listen to them fight. 'Daddy...please...' I pray.

Then, I hear my father cry out in pain and the fighting stops. "You know, for all your b-b-bravado, you're weak, Mosaic Gaster. This world is finished...this world of mismatched parts and glitches. It is a pity that your son ran off before I could kill them myself" Error says. "M-my son...?" My father says. "That look of hope...ha, pathedic. Your Papyrus is a weak fool...he teleported out of this world to another before I could end him...but, make no mistake, I will kill him" Error says and leaves. When I'm sure he's gone, I run to my father. "Daddy..." I say and then, he covers me with his own body. "Alyssa...*coughs* my child...run" my father says hunched over me, his blood dripping onto my face from his mouth.

"Daddy..." I say as I cry more. My small hands grip his lab coat tight, as if I could keep him with me if I held onto him tight enough. "This is touching, Gaster, but the little glitch is going no where." Error says. My father looks at me. "I will give you a moment though...say your goodbyes" Error says. My father, hiding me with his body, pulls my soul out as well as his own. My eyes widen and I whimper as he carves a shard of his own soul from himself and places it in the void. "Daddy!" I cry as he smiles sadly. "Alyssa...you...you are whole now...live...live and find Papyrus...survive" My father says as He turns to dust in my hands. I cry but hold my right hand tight as I can, keeping a very small amount of my father's dust from being blown away. "Finally, thought he would never die...now it's your turn, Glitch" A skeleton says leaning against the wall. He looks like Big Brother Sans, but he has the words error where big brother had patcches of color, blue lines under his eyes, and his eyes were red instead of purple.

"No offense, kid. It's just that I hate loose ends..." He says as he plays with some blue string magic. "I hate loose ends..." He says and sends his strings at me. I close my eyes. 'Daddy...' I think. Whatever the error thought would happen...didn't. I open my eyes and look at him confused. Why didn't he hurt me? "What the Fuck?" He yells and sends the strings at me again. I watch as they almost touch me, but turn to dust before they do. Error yells in rage and storms at me. "Guess we do this the messy way, Kiddo" He says slashing his claws at my face, cutting across my left eye. 'pain...fight...run...escape...' I hear from my own soul as Error towers over me. "Sorry kiddo...I never wanted ya to suffer..." Error says confusing me before everything is engulfed in a blue light. I barely hear Error yell Shit before I black out.

Momma CQ World Asy's POV

'Furg was right...I needed to see my therapist. The recent hospital trip for Geno really shook me. We almost lost him this time...almost' I think as I walk back home with my hands in my pockets. It wasn't far from to the house from the clinic, but I was taking my time. I needed to think...to get myself straight before facing Furg again. The fight we had before I left didn't help anyone and she will probably be disappointed in me, as always when I went backwards into myself. Then, I hear something that makes me pause...was that crying? Curious, I follow the sound, but I was not expecting what I found. There, hiding between two trash cans, was a young human girl. 'Shit...she must be Geno's age...' I think as I slowly get closer to her. Her long brown hair hid her face and was soaked...with blood. My eyes widen as I rush to her. She jumps, startled, and tries to shield herself. I then take notice of what she's wearing, which makes me even more concerned for the child.

She was practically naked except for a bloody hospital gown...and a gold locket. her right hand is tightly closed around something. She opens the locket with shakey hands and my eyes widen as dust falls from her hand into the locket. She closes the locket quickly, trying not to let the wind blow the dust away as if it was a prized possession. "Easy, Kiddo" I say and she cries out and shields herself again. 'Shit...poor word choice' I think and I pull out my phone. The girl looks at me from behind her arms with those green eyes. I call furg. 'Furg will know what to do' I think, no, hope. You better be apologizing, Asy. Furg says over the phone. "Yes, I'm sorry. You were right" I say as the little girl slowly lowers her arms. I can barely make out a few scars...IV scars.

What do you want? You never apologize that quick, Asy. Furg says sounding suspicious of me like I knew she would be. "Please, Furg...I really need your help" I beg. I hear her sigh. What happened? She asks already sounding disappointed. "I'm two alleys behind the house. You'll understand when you get here" I say hoping she won't refuse. Alright, but you better not be bleeding again. She says and hangs up. I take a few pictures of the girl to have proof of how I found her. It made my blood boil seeing a child hurt like this. I hope that Furg can get here soon. This kid needed help bad.

Alyssa's POV

I look up at the skeleton a little scared. He...he looked like daddy but also like big brother sans. I watch him point his phone at me. 'he's...taking pictures of me...' I think. Then, I jump hearing footsteps come our way. "Furg, slowly...she's scared and hurt" The skeleton says softly so not to scare me. "Who?" a voice says softly, concerned. The skeleton points a thumb at me. Slow foot steps come towards me as a small monster about my size comes in front of me. I whimper, my voice, not wanting to work for some reason. She looks like a fox...like the the ones in the pictures of the surface, but with blue fur and yellow ears. Her eyes widen. 'you know sign language, Alyssa. Val was deaf. Use her knowledge...don't be scared...they just want to help us' Rune's voice says in my head, or was it my soul?

I lift my right hand and the girl monster stops about a foot away from me. 'I hope they can understand me...' I hope and start to sign, my hand shaking. "Is that sign language, Furg?" The skeleton asks and she nods. "Yeah, Asy, she says her name is Alyssa...oh...poor child" She says and gently hugs me. I stiffen before I relax and start to cry, my words turning into whails instead of words. "Furg?" Asy asks. "She's a newcomer, Asy...Her home world...it's been destroyed..." The one called Furg says. Asy's face changes to concern and sorrow. "We need to get her to the hospital, Furg" Asy says. "They'll send her to the shelter, Asy...she won't last long there." Furg says sadly. "Then what do we do?" Asy asks sounding mad. I whimper and hide my face in Furg's chest. "Sorry, Alyssa. I'm not made at you, little one" Asy says.

"Asy...do you really want to save her?" Furg asks. I look at him. Our eyes meet and he holds my gaze. "I do...I...I can't let her get hurt again" He says. Furg smiles but he doesn't see it. "Then, see will need a guardian...a new father." Furg says and Asy stiffens. I sign to her and she signs back. "She says a skeleton named Error killed her Father...He was tall." Furg says. Asy looks at me sadly. "That dust...in your locket...it belonged to your father" Asy asks and I nod. He slowly comes over and gently picks me up. "Will you be ok with it if I said I wanted to be your new daddy, Alyssa? I know that I'll never be him, but I can try to be a good dad" He says and I nod. His eyes widen as my hair slips from my face. "Furg! We have to go now!" He says concerned and Furg nods as they run towards what must be a hospital.

I cry a little as my soul hurts a little being jostled along the way, and we soon go into a big building. "Oh Dear Gods! Asy, what happened?" A woman's voice says as we go inside. I look at her to see she's about new daddy's height and has pink hair. She's also human...like me, no...not exactly like me..."She's a newcomer...I found her like this..." Daddy says and the woman nods. A nurse takes us to a room. "I will have to..." The nurse starts to say, but daddy cuts her off. "No, I will be her guardian. I will claim responsibility for her" Daddy says. The nurse nods. "Very well, sir. I will have the paperwork in a bit. Let's get her cleaned up." She says and I cry as she tries to take me from daddy. "It's ok, Alyssa. She just wants to help" Furg says softly and I sign. Furg frowns. "She says her soul hurts. It's been hurting since we found her and daddy makes it hurt less." Furg says and the nurse frowns. "I'll get Doctor Gaster...can you try to get her changed into the clean gown?" She asks and Furg nods.

The nurse rushes out. "Alyssa, I will be right outside the door. I need to talk to the pink haired lady from before" Daddy says gently putting me on the bed. I watch him go outside the room to talk to the lady from before. Furg helps me get changed, managing not to make me hurt more. I watch the lady cover her mouth with her hand as tears go down her face. She nods and hugs daddy. Then...I see him...a small version of the monster that killed my father. Panic starts to rise inside me as they come inside. Error stays behind the pink haired lady. "Alyssa?" Daddy asks and gently takes me in his arms. I sign to Furg. "She says the small error scares her...but she knows he isn't the one that hurt her...just for him to stay over there..." Furg tells daddy. Error glares at me and I whimper. Then, the nurse returns, but not alone. My eyes widen and I cry out reaching for the doctor. 'Daddy...wait...not daddy..." I put my arms down and start to cry again, grabbing my locket."Doctor...I don't understand" The nurse says. "I believe I do. I must be her father in the world she came from. That's why she reached for me." The doctor says and comes over. "It will be alright little one. I will make you feel better, I promise" The doctor says as I fall asleep.

Asy's POV

I watch the Doctor slip Alyssa a sedative and she falls asleep in my arms. "Maybe now, we will be able to help her" Doctor Gaster says and comes a little closer. "When you found her, what was the condition of her soul?" He asks. "I couldn't see it, doctor" I say. "Neither could I" Furg says. The doctor nods. "Interesting...she is not human...at least not completely" He says, gently pulling her soul out. I look at Alyssa's soul in a mix of horror and awe. It looked like a grotesque stained glass window. The doctor frowns a little. "What would possess someone to do this? I can make out Seven...no, Eight different souls that make up Alyssa's." He says. "She was in a hospital or something. She has scars from the IVs." I say and the Doctor nods. "Probably stabilizers to keep her soul from breaking apart. If I didn't see how she reacted to me, I would have thought her version of me a true monster...this one soul though...it belongs to a monster...worlds above...it's...its identical to mine..." The doctor says. "Her father must have given part of his own soul to try and save her" Furg says.

The doctor nods as he cleans Alyssa's face and stitches the cuts closed. "The cuts to her face are clean cut...but they will leave scars. Nothing can be done about that. As to her soul, it will be unstable from time to time. All I can do for now is perscribe some stabilizing supplements for her to take every six hours. It's more advanced than whatever they did in her old world. However, if her soul gets too unstable, she will have to be brought here immediately. I don't know if you two understand the severity of her condition. If her sould breaks apart...she will cease to be. Even if I was able to put the peices back together, she will not be Alyssa anymore, but someone entirely new. Please understand this. Asy, I know you know how bad it can get for Geno. An instability of her soul will be the same. She will require a lot of care." The doctor says. I look at CQ. She smiles sadly but nods. I know I have her support, and Furg's too. "I understand, Doctor Gaster. If I let her go to the shelter, she will die...I...I can't...I won't let that happen to her. I have only know her for a short time, but..." I trail off. "You've grown attached. It is common, Asy. I can barely see it, but a familia bond has started to form between you two, linking your souls together. It's likely that this is how she lived this long in her world." Doctor Gaster says.

"I will adopt her as my daughter..." I say. "He's a great person to look after a child, Doctor Gaster. He helps watch my boys" CQ says and the doctor nods. He finishes up bandaging Alyssa's face and the nurse finishes cleaning her up as I go out of the room to talk to Furg and CQ. "Furg, CQ, are you sure you two are alright with this? What if I mess up?" I say trailing off. "You are great with the boys, Asy. You will be a great father. Besides, you can always bring Alyssa with you when you watch the boys. She's such a sweetheart." CQ says and I smile a little. "Why is she scared of me?" Error asks and I sigh. Kneeling down, I look at Error. "It's nothing against you, Error. There...there's another version of you. He looks a lot like you, but he's not you. He's very cruel and cold. He kills entire worlds without any pity...it's a miracle she even escaped him" I say and he nods a little. "So, that means to watch your temper when she's around, Error. At least until she gets used to you." CQ says. Error nods a little. "Ok momma..." He says.

"Well, I think Alyssa will be good for you, Asy" Furg says and I frown. "Don't give me that look. You always brighten up when you are about to go watch the boys for CQ and your grin doesn't fade when you get home until you are about to go to bed" Furg says and I nod, understanding. "I...I will do my best for her" I say. "We know you will, and we're here for you two" CQ says. "Momma...we should check on Geno" Error says and she nods. "Ok, Error. I'll check on you guys later" CQ says and leaves with Error. I go back inside. "She's as comfortable as we can make her. Now, I am obligated to tell you that the queen has a trust fund set up for children that are newcomers and their new families. A certain amount will be entrusted to you for her care. Every family that takes in a child that's alone receives this. However, I normally don't mention this fact until the adoption is final.I only say it now because I can see your conviction, and know she is in good hands" The doctor says as a member of the royal guard comes into the room. I finch looking at them. "Sorry, but the signature has to be witnessed by a guardsman." Doctor Gaster says and I nod and sign the paperwork. The guard signs as well as Furg and the doctor. "Congratulations, Asy. It's a girl" The Doctor jokes breaking up the tension, and making us chuckle.

Alyssa's POV

I wake up and look around. I see Asy, my new daddy asleep in the chair next to me. Furg must have left. I open my mouth and try to speak only for nothing to come out. I whimper a little and daddy starts to wake up. He rubs his eyes. I can only see out of my right eye right now due to the bandages on the left side of my face. Daddy looks at me. "Hey sweetie. You feeling any better?" He asks and I nod. I point at my mouth and whimper. "Not used to not talking?" He asks and I nod. "The doctor said that's normal. You used a heavy duty teleportation spell. It's weakened your soul and you won't be able to talk for a while. He doesn't know how long though. Don't worry. Aunty Furg will be back. She went to get you some clothes." He says and the Pink haired lady from before comes in. This time, there's three small skeletons with her. I remember Error...he's not the bad one...I remember. One of the others is very colorful and is wearing sunglasses that have YOLO on them. The other, holding the lady's hand, Is wearing mostly white with a red scarf. He has a bandage on his hand. My soul starts to feel a lot better as He comes over curiously. "Hi..." He says. I wave a little. "She can't talk right now, Geno. It's a side effect from using teleportation with her weak soul." Daddy says. Geno nods. "I'm Geno. You already know my brother, Error. The colorful one is my other brother, Fresh" He says and I wave at them.

"Boys, this is Alyssa. Uncle Asy adopted her. So, be nice to her, Alright?" their mother says and they nod. "Geno? Are you alright?" Daddy asks and Geno nods with a smile. "I'm ok. I'm not tired or hurting right now." He says surprising them. The doctor soon comes in. "Ah, she's awake. Good, Good. Geno? You look better than you did earlier." He says leaning down to get a better look. "Well, I'll be." He says standing back up. "What?" CQ asks concerned. "His souls seems to be a little stronger than before. Geno, when did you start feeling better?" The doctor asks. "When we came in here to meet Alyssa." Geno says. He nods. "I see. Asy, CQ, a moment? I won't keep you long." He says. Daddy kisses my head. "I'll be right back, Alyssa" Daddy says. "So will I boys. Behave" CQ says and they leave the room.

Asy's POV

I follow the doctor to his office with CQ. We sit down as he closes the door behind us. "In all my time as a doctor, I've never seen anything like this, but I guess, It's uncharted territory." He says sitting down. "What do you mean?" CQ asks. Gaster sighs. "Alyssa's soul contains seven human and one monster soul...her magical ability is through the roof, but it's majorly untapped and unpredictable. However, it's fairly under control for the most part. I believe this is due to her original father's control of his magic. The knowledge must have passed to Alyssa when he gave a part of his soul to her." He says. "What does that mean for her and Geno?" I ask concerned. He chuckles. "Nothing dangerous, I assure you. Quite the opposite. It's there, but most likely won't develop futher until they are much older, but the soul bond is there." He says and me and CQ are floored. "W-w-what?" CQ asks. "As in the bond between two grown monsters. However, right now, it amounts to nothing more than friendship between them. To be blunt...*looks at us seriously* They are healing each other. It's a slow regeneration process, but it's there. Eventually, they will be two very healthy kids." He says.
