Chapter 2- You must be thinking of someone else
Sam looked at Valerie in shock.
"Excuse me!?", he said
"Seriously?", Valerie said, looking at Sam in disbelief
"Y-you must be thinking about someone else, I would remember if-"
"Yeah, well I know what I saw, okay? And what I saw, was you standing over my parents' bodies with a knife in your hand."
"Look, I'm really sorry for your loss, okay? But I really don't remember killing your parents, alright? I'm sorry, but I don't."
"Alright. Then let me tell you how it Happened: You and your partner came to this city-."
"Wait hold up. I had a partner with me? Who?"
"I don't know, some older guy, his name was Campbell or something like that, but that's not important. now where was I? Right, you and your partner came into town…"
Asheville, North Carolina 5 years ago
Valerie was sitting at her father's desk, bored out of her mind, just dying for some sort of entertainment, when suddenly two men walked into the sheriff's station.
'Awesome', Valerie thought, 'finally something for me to do'
"Hello, how can I help you?", Valerie said
"Where is the sheriff?", the youngest one said
'Okay rude', Valerie thought
"Hes not available at the moment, but I would be happy to take a message for you, or you're welcome to wait for him", she said
"Uhm sure, we'll wait, thank you", the older one said, sending the younger one a reproving look.
'Okay weird', Valerie thought.
The sheriff walked in after about 1 hour of the two men waiting, he looked very stressed.
"There has been another murder, the Lawrence family", the sheriff said quietly to a another officer.
"I will inform the relatives", The officer said
"They have a little girl, who was in daycare when it happened, we have already notified the school, but we need someone to go pick her up", the sheriff said
"I'll do it", the officer said, with a sad expression on his face "poor girl, she just lost her entire family, and she's so young"
"Yeah i know"
The two men, who had been watching the conversation between the officer and the sheriff go down, suddenly stood up and approached the sheriff
"Hello, you must be the sheriff, my name is detective Mitchell, and this is my partner detective Edwards, we're with the FBI, and we're here to investigate the recent murders you've been experiencing", The older man, detective Mitchell, said
"Yes, that's me. And i didnt know the FBI was coming", the sheriff replied
"Yeah well we're here, so just tell us what's been happening, so we don't waste any more time, alright?", the younger one, detective Edwards said
'What is up with that guy?', Valerie thought
"Can you take us to the crime scene, sheriff?", detective Mitchell asked, once again giving his partner a reproving look
"Yeah sure, just give me one second", the sheriff said, walking over to where Valerie was sitting at his desk, "Honey?, i'm gonna take the detectives to a crime scene, okay?", Valerie sighed then looked up at her father "dad, come on, you promised we'd be home by dinner time at six o'clock, its seven thirty"
"Yeah i know honey, look you can call your mom and have her pick you up, alright?"
Valerie sighed "Yeah, alright i'll call her", she said "but you owe me, big time"
"Alright", the sheriff said, a fond smile on his face.
Valerie was standing outside the sheriff's station waiting for her mom, when one of the agents, Edwards, stepped out of the station and approached her 'great', she thought 'that guy again'
"So… aren't you supposed to go see the crime scene?", she asks
"My partner didn't think it was a good idea"
'He's probably right', Valerie thought, out loud she said; "Well that's too bad"
"Yeah, well then at least im spared of watching how painfully incompetent the sheriff is", he said
"Okay what is your deal dude?", Valerie said, turning to look up at the detective "you are rude, and you don't seem to care about the people who died, or anything for that matter"
"You wouldn't believe me if i told you"
"Try me"
"Okay fine, my name is Sam Winchester, my partners name is Samuel Campbell, and we hunt monsters for a living." Valerie looked at him for a second, then burst out laughing " yeah right, and I'm the queen of England", she said still laughing "You know what I think? I think you're just a dick, nothing more"
"That's fine if you don't believe me, but i am telling the truth, you'll find out sooner or later"
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Nothing, I think your mom is here", he said nodding at a car that had just pulled up to the station
"Yeah that's her", Valerie walked over to the car and got in. When Valerie and her mother drove away, she looked behind them and saw the detective just standing by the station watching the drive away, 'that was so weird', she thought, shaking her head she turned to her mom, who asked; "so, how was your day sweetie?"
"It was fine".
