Hey guys or gals, welcome back I have been writing this chapter all week so I hope you like it!

Percabeth. Keeper- Thank you for reviewing on my story. It was really nice, and your message gave me some motivation to write this next chapter, because if no one likes my story, then why would i keep writing it? So thanks!

Big chandeliers lit up the stair well, and shined light against our faces. I can hear 'oohs' and 'ahhs' behind me as all of us are intrigued by this breathtaking hall.

"Come on students we don't have all night!" Professor McGonagall says as she guides us into the great hall. Some students want to be first in the crowd of first years, so they push and run towards the front. I just stay where I am, because I cannot care less.

At the very back of the great hall there was something close to a stage, there were two long tables on either side of a golden pulpit. On top of the pulpit is a golden owl with its wings spread out, with lit candles at the tips. Sitting at the tables are teachers, they all look normal, but I can see there is something magical hiding. I turn my gaze to the ceiling, there is a dark night sky full of stars.

"Wait, but isn't there a roof? How do I see the sky inside Hogwarts?!" A boy from behind me says.

I turn around. "There still is a ceiling, but it is bewitched to look like the sky outside, I read it in Hogwarts: A History." I reply. The boy walks more towards the side away from me, which made me feel like I was going to have to sit in the library alone every single day.

I look around again, we are nearing the front of the hall and that's when the butterflies start fluttering. Along the sides there are students clapping and cheering, it lifts some weight that I didn't even was on my shoulders off.

"Wait here students." Professor McGonagall says as she walked up to the stool with the sorting hat on top.

I look around, everyone is now staring at the hat, so I decided to look at it too. A few minutes later a coughing noise came from the hat, then it twitched. A rip near the brim opened wide like a mouth - and the hat began to sing:

'Oh you may not think I'm pretty,

But don't judge on what you see,

I'll eat myself if you find

A smarter hat than me.

You can keep your bowlers black,

Your top hats sleek and tall,

For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat

And I can cap them all.

There's nothing hidden in your head,

The Sorting Hat can't see,

So try me on and I will tell you

Where you ought to be.

You might belong to Gryffindor,

Where dwell the brave at heart,

Their daring, nerve and chivalry

Set Gryffindors apart;

You might belong in Hufflepuff,

Where they are just and loyal,

Those patient Hufflepuffs are true

And unafraid of toil;

Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,

If you've a ready mind,

Where those of wit and learning,

Will always find their kind:

Or perhaps in Slytherin

You'll make your real friends,

Those cunning folks will use any means,

To achieve their ends.

So put me on! Don't be afraid!

And don't get in a flap!

Your in safe hands (though I have none)

For I'm a Thinking Cap!"

The hat had finished singing, the whole hall burst into applause. The hat went completely still again. I hear chitter chatters, and different conversations about what house they'd be in and why. That made me think, I feel like I will be in Ravenclaw. Thinking back to the song, yes I would because I love learning and my parents say I am very smart.

Professor McGonagall steps forward holding a long roll of parchment "When I call your name you will put on the hat and sit on the stool to be sorted." she said "Abbott, Hannah!"

A small pink faced girl with blonde pigtails approaches the stool, as she sits down she put on the hat. Hannah's eyes were covered by the hat, so I cannot see her emotion.

A few moments later the sorting hat shouted "HUFFLEPUFF!"

The table on the right cheered and clapped as Hannah stumbled over to sit with her fellow Hufflepuffs. I see the ghost of the Fat Friar float over to greet Hannah, her eyes lit up with joy as she met and talked to different kids.

"Bones, Susan!"

"HUFFLEPUFF!" Shouted the hat again, once more the Hufflepuff table cheered as Susan scuttled over to sit next to Hannah.

"Boot, Terry!"

"RAVENCLAW!"

This time is was the table on the left who clapped, as Terry approached the Ravenclaw table some Ravenclaw's stood up to shake hands. 'Wow is everyone that nice?', I thought to myself. I heard Slytherin is an unpleasant house to get sorted into because that's were all the loathsome and cold-blooded students go.

"Brocklehurst, Mandy" also went to Ravenclaw, but "Brown, Lavender" was the first to become a Gryffindor. When the sorting hat shouted "Gryffindor" The table second to the left exploded with cheers and clapping. I looked at the Gryffindor table, and see two twins who look like Ron. Maybe they are his older brother's, or they just somehow look alike.

When I look back up, there is a dark brown haired girl sitting on the stool. The hat barely touches her head and shouts "SLYTHERIN!" As more and more wizards and witches got sorted, I got more and more nervous.

"Neville Longbottom!"

This time it took the sorting hat several minutes before shouting "GRYFFINDOR!" I cheered very loudly, because Neville might be my only friend and maybe even the same for him. That made me smile, a friend! I never had many friends when I went to muggle school.

I am so lost in my thoughts again, that I nearly did not hear Professor McGonagall say my name.

"Granger, Hermione!"

I quickly ran up to the seat and placed the sorting hat on my head. It is going to be Ravenclaw, I know it!

"GRYFFINDOR!" shouted the hat.

As I place the hat back down on the stool, and run to the Gryffindor table. I see Ron Weasley and his two twin brothers. Ron looks at me, he scoffs and rolls his eyes.

"This is going to be great!" Ron says as sarcastically as possible to his brothers.

As I sit down across from Ron, the twins put their hands out.

"I'm George and this is Fred." says George, I also shake his hand.

"Hermione Granger, nice to meet you." I reply.

Fred and George are very strange but extremely nice. Both have the same orange hair and freckled face as Ron. We start a nice conversation about our families, and how I have muggle parents and their family is pure blood. Before I got the letter to Hogwarts I went to a muggle school, but when you are pureblood you wait till you're acceptance letter from Hogwarts arrives (when you are eleven years old).

We keep talking, as the crowd of first years gets smaller. I turn to look at Harry, he looks back at me. He has worried look in his eyes, I try to give a sympathy look but I don't it registered to him. More and more students were called out, sorted than went to one of the four different houses. Finally, Harry is called.

"Potter, Harry!" Professor McGonagall says, but then looks up in confusion and surprise.

I see Harry walk towards the sorting hat and stool, and the great hall erupts in whispers.

"Did she say Harry Potter?"

"The Harry Potter?"

"That's impossible!"

As Harry sits on the stool, I whisper to myself "Please Gryffindor, please oh please!" I don't know why but I really hoped the sorting hat would sort him into Gryffindor. Everyone was staring at him as he slowly placed the hat on his head.

"Hmm," the sorting hat says. After a long few minutes the hat shouts "GRYFFINDOR!"

The table erupts in cheers and claps all excited that Harry Potter was in our house.

"We've got Potter, we've got Potter!" The two Weasley twins exclaimed.

I saw a wide smile appear on Harry's face, that reflected off my face. He runs over to our table and sits down next to Ron. As the last few students get sorted, many Gryffindors started introducing themselves to Harry because I mean he is Harry Potter.

As the last student sat down at the Slytherin table, Professor McGonagall rolled up her long parchment and took the sorting hat away. Dumbledore stood up and walked over to the golden pulpit. Dumbledore's long white beard and hair flows down on his red and white robe.

Dumbledore adjusts his tassel hat and small wire rimmed glasses. "Welcome!" he says "Welcome to a new year at Hogwarts! Before we begin our banquet, I would like to say a few words. And here they are: Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak!"

"Thank you!"

Not knowing what any of those words are, I didn't even notice that the empty golden plates now had food. My jaw dropped, so had Harry's and Ron's, I just realized how hungry I was. I was starving!
