Chapter 2

Sean stood in the living room looking out the large window Friday afternoon. Max sat near his feet. Max rose to his four paws, looked at Sean and let out a small bark. "They coming Max?" Sean smiled. Max barked back a loud response. The yellow limousine pulled up to the driveway. The door opened and five boys rumbled off, running up the driveway. Sean smiled at Max. "Show time."

Sean and Max got into the kitchen as the boys came in the back door. Sean put two fingers in his mouth and let out a loud whistle. The boys looked at him, pulling off their winter coats. "Guys put your bookbags down and find a bathroom. The Suburban is packed and ready to go. Use said bathroom. Max and I are leaving in ten minutes. With or without you." The boys started to scatter. "And wash your hands!"

Sean locked up the house as the boys got in the Suburban. Keegan and Manny climbed into the third set of seats. Carter and Micah got in the second set. Jack climbed into the passenger seat across from Sean and looked at him, buckling his seatbelt like the rest of the guys. "Co-pilot to pilot. Garage opener for the cabin."

"Check," Sean said.

"Keys to cabin."

"Check," Sean smiled.

"Check list complete," Jack smiled.

Sean put the Suburban in reverse. "At this time, we are beginning to taxi for take-off. Please make sure your seatbelts are buckled, your carry-on bags are safely stowed under the seat in front of you, and your tray table is in its upright and locked position."

"Check," the boys all laughed.

Sean paused at the end of the driveway for some on-coming traffic. He plugged in his cellphone to the audio sound system and smiled at the boys. "One of my bussers at the restaurant is a freshman in college and part-time DJ. He's got a younger brother your age. He did a mix for me of tunes you guys might like."

Sean hit the play button on his phone as he pulled out of the driveway. Bruno Mars came through the speakers doing Uptown Funk. The boys happily sang their way to the Golden Arches stop an hour later before they then started heading west on the state road to the cabin. Sean parked the Suburban as it started to lightly snow.

"Hey guys, listen up," Sean said, turning to look at them. "You all know McDonald's. So, don't fart around deciding on what to order. We need a break getting out to stretch our legs. But I don't want to fool around here too long with it starting to snow."

"Sean, we can get our orders to go and eat on the way," Carter suggested.

Sean smiled at him. "Thanks Carter. And while it's been a while since I've driven on snow living in NYC, number one, I'd rather do it with two hands instead of one trying to eat my dinner. Number two – I'm the one up later tonight with the sick dog from the grease of all of you giving into Max to snag some of your fries." The boys all laughed. "Let's just not fool around. We can do that at the cabin."

"Got it Sean," Manny smiled, climbing out. "Come on Max. You're with me. I know what I want to eat." Manny got Max to the dog walking area outside of the restaurant as Jack put out Max's food and water bowls in the area vacated by Manny and Carter. Manny got Max in the vehicle a couple minutes later.

By the time Sean, Jack and Manny got in the door, Keegan, Micah and Carter were already getting their meals. "Our folks gave us money for dinner tonight," Micah smiled.

"We know how we're going to eat the rest of the weekend," Keegan added.

When they were back on the road, a phone call to Sean's cell interrupted the music. Sean looked at the caller ID and hit the answer button. "Hey Aaron. You just rose to the top of the shit list interrupting Bohemian Rhapsody." The boys all giggled.

"A song that transcends the generations," Dave noted. Aaron had his cell on speaker, sitting around the conference room table with the team in the Louisville PD as the team was eating their dinner.

"I'm bad," Aaron said.

Sean laughed. "It's about time Aaron; Derek finally rubbed off on you." Morgan pointed at Hotch with a smile.

"Where are you Sean?" Aaron asked.

"We're about fifteen minutes away from the cabin."

"That close already?" Aaron said looking at his watch.

"Our flight crew got us away from the gate early," Micah snarked. Dave rolled his eyes at Aaron, shaking his head. Emily and JJ smiled.

"I've got a good co-pilot," Sean said.

"Hi dad, pop and team," Jack said.

"Hey buddy," Aaron said.

"Hi Champino," Dave smiled. Max barked a greeting to the familiar voices. The boys and the team all smiled. "Hey Max," Dave said.

"Sean, how's the weather?" Aaron asked. "Reid pulled up a Google weather map as I started to call you. He said it's snowing."

"It has been fifteen years and four months since he's drove in snow," Reid said. Morgan, Emily and JJ burrowed a look at Reid.

"Aaron remind the good doctor that driving in very light snow is like riding a bike," Sean said.

"And the Las Vegas native should preach," Tara snarked.

"Aaron," Sean said, "The other tall doc deserves a raise for calling out Reid." The team all laughed as Tara smiled at Reid.

Aaron smiled. "Dave and I just wanted to check in. We'll talk to you later tonight."

"Does mean we can go back to the music Hotch?" Micah asked. The BAU team snickered.

Dave shook his head at the team. "There's our wiseass."

"That's me Dave," Micah smiled. The boys all laughed.

"Talk to you later Aaron," Sean said. "Take care all of you."

"Ditto that," Jack said. "Love ya!"

"Back at you buddy," Aaron smiled. The team added their farewells.

"Hey Champino," Dave said.

"What pop?" Jack answered.

"Dad and I are sorry we're not there. You and the gang enjoy this son."

Jack smiled. "We will pop. Love you and miss you both."

"Have fun Jack," Aaron said. "You too gang." The boys all added their good-byes. Sean ended the phone call and reset the playlist to start Bohemian Rhapsody again.

Emily and JJ looked at Hotch and Rossi. Aaron smiled. "Sean said he has some big-time surprises for the boys."

Morgan looked at him. "You two didn't have any part in that?"

Dave shook his head. "We have no clue. But I'm sure we'll hear about them," he smiled.

Aaron looked at his team. "With all those millennials and their cell phones? Including my brother? Video will be involved," he smiled. "But let's get back to work. This unsub is not that smart. Let's figure him out."

While the BAU team worked on building their profile, Sean and the gang of five got the Suburban unloaded. They worked as a team to get the big cooler unloaded and the bags of groceries into the cabin. Keegan pulled out two dozen cottage rolls and looked at Sean with a smile. "Yes," Sean smiled back. "It's sliders for breakfast tomorrow morning. But come on guys - let's keep moving. Pull out your winter gear from your bags and put it in the laundry room. Then let's get the great room set up with the air mattresses and sleeping bags for you."

While the boys got the great room ready with the fire already roaring that Sean had going, Sean pulled out a gallon of milk and poured it into a saucepan. Adding some chocolate syrup, he put it on the stovetop and turned the burner on low. He walked into the great room. "Guys get your snow gear on," he smiled, waving them into the laundry room. He pulled his out of one of the cabinets. When the boys were all dressed, Sean led them into the garage and pointed at Dave's workbench.

The boy walked up and noticed the six-foot toboggan sitting on the bench. Sean smiled at them. "You guys remember Cory?" The boys all nodded. "His brother Jon is a master wood crafter. That's how he makes a living around here. He handmade this toboggan." He looked at the boys. "For all of you. Aaron and Dave ordered it last summer from him. For this time," Sean smiled. "I say we give it a tryout."

Jack, Keegan and Carter picked it up off the workbench. Sean opened the backdoor. He turned on a light switch and headed out the door. The boys admired the craftwork of the toboggan, including the heavy pad tightly bolted to the seating area of the large sled.

Sean winked at Jon, handing him his cell phone as the boys almost reverently carried the toboggan out the door towards the hill by the side of the garage. Sean had the lights on covering the area. The boys stopped.

"Whoa," Jack said. "Uncle Sean?"

Sean smiled. "Tina and Cory may have been up here earlier getting this toboggan run packed down with their snowmobiles." He nodded at Jon. "I think the master wood crafter should get to see how his final product works," Sean smiled. "The fresh light snow should make this baby fly."

The boys put the toboggan down, using the rope attached to the front to pull it up the hill. Sean helped Micah climb the steep slope with his artificial leg. When they got to the top of the hill, Sean took the toboggan and pointed it downhill. He got on the toboggan on his knees. "I'm the driver. Micah, you get on behind me and wrap your legs around me. Manny and Carter, you're next. Do the same with your legs. Jack, you and Keegan being the biggest are our pushers. Give us a push then hop on one after the other. Work it out."

Jack smiled at Keegan. "I'm the co-pilot."

"But listen up guys," Sean said. "When I say bail right or left you do it. Don't think. Just do it. We don't run this beautiful piece of work into a tree. And when I say brakes, you all put out you feet in the snow to stop the sled."

Sean heard a chorus of "got it". He looked over his shoulder. "Ready co-pilot?" he smiled.

"More than ready," Jack smiled.

"Let's do this," Keegan smiled.

Jon pulled up Sean's cell to video the maiden voyage. The boys got on like Sean wanted. Keegan gave Carter's shoulder a push to get the sled moving and hopped on. Jack, running a bit gave the toboggan one more push against Keegan's shoulders and hopped on as well. The toboggan flew down the slope with the boys whooping and hollering. Jon broadly smiled, taking the video.

"Brakes!" Sean shouted. The boys, except Micah, put out their legs, getting the toboggan to a stop.

The boys tumbled off. "Let's go again!"

Sean smiled at them. "I'll pull up the toboggan. You guys help Micah up the hill." Keegan and Manny pulled Micah's arms around their shoulders.

After the third run, the boys looked at Sean. "OK," he smiled. "Final, final. Jack, let Max out so he can do his thing."

They all got to the top of the hill with Max naturally following them. He chased after the streaking toboggan, loudly barking. The boys laughed more. When he got to the bottom of the hill and got off, Sean looked at the boys with their rosy cheeks and smiled. "Jack, chase off Max to do his thing. The rest of you, get the toboggan inside the garage and dried off, putting it back on the work bench."

The boys and Max came in the cabin ten minutes later. They pulled off their snow gear, leaving it lay around the laundry room to dry out. Jack pulled a towel out of one of the cabinets to get Max dried off. Sean handed them mugs of hot cocoa as they came into the kitchen. "When you finish them, head for the shower and get into your pj's. I'll get the homemade popcorn going."

Jack put three more logs onto the fire as Sean walked into the great room with Dave's large metal bowl filled with buttered popcorn and a roll of paper towels, tossing the roll at Micah. He and boys settled in watching The Last Samurai. Sean sent a text.

An hour later, the BAU team was still in the conference room. Penelope pinged on their laptops. "Mama, please tell me you have this hump," Morgan said.

"Honestly SSA Morgan," Garcia said, "I've got something better." Dave winked at Aaron and smiled as the video came up of the boys on their first toboggan run. The team all smiled at the video. The second video was from Sean with the boys watching the movie, passing around the popcorn bowl.

"Thank you Garcia," Aaron said.

"My pleasure my liege," Garcia smiled. The team heard her computer systems dinging. "Holy crap! Your profile just found a match in my binary systems. Sending the info to your tablets…now."

"Thanks mama," Morgan said as he and the rest of the team grabbed their tablets.

While the BAU team two hours later was finalizing their plans with the Louisville PD to arrest their suspect, Sean was putting three more logs in the fireplace of the great room. The boys were making their way to their sleeping bags after brushing their teeth and using the head. Sean looked at them. "Did you wash your hands?"

Keegan nodded his head. "My mom is a nurse. She's taking the warnings seriously about that new virus. Before I brushed my teeth and after I peed using the single use towels to dry my hands." Sean noticed Keegan was putting hand lotion on his hands. The rest of the boys were following his example.

Sean smiled at him. "You and your mom rock Keegan." Micah came into the great room last, limping behind Jack. "Micah," Sean asked with concern. "You OK?" moving to him.

Micah looked at Sean. "Can you help me down please?" The rest of the boys sat up in their sleeping bags looking at their friend. Sean got him down and crouched next to him. Micah smiled at Sean. "You and the guys helping me up the hill was huge." He shyly looked at Sean. "But you've got to understand…." Micah said as he pulled off his limb and then the prosthetic sock that protected the stump of his leg. Micah looked over his stump. "Flesh color and no blisters forming," he said. "I'm good," he smiled, setting the sock aside to dry out from its workout.

Sean looked at him. "You were limping with your left leg dude." Micah looked at Sean. "Be honest with me Micah."

"I've got a bit of a cramp in my left thigh. It happens," Micah quickly added.

"And what does your mom do when that happens?" Sean inquired.

"She gives me two regular Advil," Micah said, looking at Sean. "I've got some in my bag upstairs."

Sean smiled, getting up. "There's a certain Italian who vacations here that can wake up with a hangover sometimes." The boys all snickered. "I've got a closer supply," Sean said, heading for the kitchen. He came back with two Advil and a bottle of water. He handed the Advil to Micah and then the bottle of water. "Kill that bottle of water off," Sean advised. "A cramp needs hydration."

Micah took the Advil and a long drink of the water. "Oh good. I'll have to piss twice tonight," Micah said, taking another large drink.

Sean crouched back down next to him. "You wake up Jack or the other Tom, Dick or Harry sleeping here to help you."

"I'm Tom," Keegan smiled at his bud.

"I'm Dick," Manny smiled.

"Shit, I'm Harry," Carter laughed. The boys giggled along with him.

Sean laughed with the boys as Micah polished off the bottle of water. He handed the empty bottle to Sean. "Max," Sean said, patting Micah's sleeping bag. "You're the final part." Max yawned and came over next to Micah, curling up between him and Jack. Sean rubbed Micah's head. "Curl that thigh up next to the heating pad."

Micah yawned, rolling on his side, putting his thigh next to Max. "That feels good."

"Good night pal," Sean said, rubbing his head. Sean rubbed Jack's shoulder. "Good night bud. Love you."

"Love you too Uncle Sean," Jack yawned.

"Good night Tom, Dick and Harry," Sean smiled, standing up. He shut down the lights in the great room, filled the water bottle and put it back in the fridge. He shut down the lights in the kitchen and headed upstairs.

Climbing into bed, he yawned. "Damn this feels good," pulling the blanket and quilt closer around his neck.
