At age fourteen, a few years later; Leon found himself homeless and orphaned in an alien world. The city had an orphanage but he did not like how it was. He had no privacy and no freedom. They had him attend a shoty school that only taught about those demons known as grim along with minor history.

So afterwards he stop going to school and went to working. Of course not many places wanted to employ a fourteen year old. The jobs he found was at the docks. He would clean out junk that came to the area so ships could move unabated. Sometimes they had him clean ships when they stayed overnight. It payed little but it atleast was something.

The orphanage kick him out after he missed too many school days and spent some nights out in town. The money he saved was quickly used feeding himself and clothing himself. His employer warned if he showed up again dirty that they would fire him.

Months after living in vale left him near death. He was hiding in an alley as the snow fell. The pain his empty stomach caused him to stay awake shivering. He still didn't regret leaving the orphanage. This way he was still free. Though he did regret being stupid, that was a major mistake.

A door open with blinding lights hurting his eyes. He could only hear trash being thrown out. His shivering got bad. Making him hit a pipe.

"Who's there?" The worker saw him. Thinking he was some thug she went to hit him with a bat.

He couldn't move as he got hit multiple times. Something went crunch as the air left his lungs. "Please! I'm just homeless leave me alone!" He cried.

She stop. Getting a better look she saw that it was a kid. His clothes were in tatters. His hygiene was gone. It was also very clear that he had gone several days without food. What makes matters worse was him not being able to breath. Looking over him she saw that she broke one of his ribs.

"Mom! I can't find the gloves." The little girl was about to go outside.

"Velvet Darling! Go inside and get the medical kit!" She pick him up and got him on a table.

Velvet came back with the first aid. "Here you go mommy!"

She applied numbing gel and wrap him up so he wouldn't agitate the wound. He calm down enough for her to give him some food.

"Thanks." He mumbled.

"So what is a kid doing out during winter?" She handed him some hot chocolate.

Siping the hot treat made him feel much better. "I got kick out of the orphanage."

This surprised the mother. "Sorry for your lose. I didn't know they could kick kids out."

"They can if you constantly ditch school and don't follow curfew."

That's right. She never did agree with how the council ruled on that. She guessed they wanted to feel that money wasn't being wasted. "So how about your name? I am going to need one if you are going to stay here for awhile."

"Leon Weirdenu. I'm fourteen now, almost fifteen. Wait you're going to let me stay?"

She warmly smiled. "I can't just send a kid back out on the streets now can I? Besides, you can pay for your stay by working for me and going back to school."

The following weeks she had him tested to see where he was at his education. Suffice to say that her expectations were greatly surpassed. He scored near perfect on everything. She couldn't afford decent education for him since her duaghter was training in school for huntress. So she was only able to give him the final couple years of basic education.

Through this time Leon took the time to understand his position. "I Can't mess this up. I was lucky with the orphanage. Even luckier with the scarlatinas'." He thought while reading a book on 'finer points of semblance application'.

He was broken from his thoughts by a sudden weight on his back. "What are you reading?" Velvet said.

Shrugging her off he said. "How to burn food 101. Quite educational I think." He showed her the cover.

She giggled. "Silly that says finer points of semblance application."

"Oh, you know you're right." He theatrically said looking at the cover and back to her.

Swaying back and forth awkwardly she ask. "Do you want to spar with me? I need the experience."

He suddenly felt bad. "I'm sorry. I can't. I don't feel comfortable fighting a kid."

Now pouting. "But you are also a kid."

"I'm like 18, practically an adult. Besides I would feel like a bully if I sparred with you." Trying to think of something else to do with her so she wouldn't be upset. "How about watching some students spars on video from prior tournaments? Then you can use that to work on your combat experience."

Tilting her head to think about it. "Fine, but you owe me!"

So they spent an afternoon watching students fight and trying out their moves without hitting each other. Sometimes she wouldn't get down something the first time. Though she always did manage to replicate each one near perfect. On the other hand Leon would only get one out of twenty after some intense effort with major flaws.

The following weekend Leon went into the depths of the city. Awhile ago he found a place that had a fight club of sorts. What they did was more underground training. Not sanction by the council. Sometimes they would make bets on who would win a fight and how.

He didn't win often. In fact he lost nine out of ten times. The people he fought were older than him and showed little compassion. That was why he loved it. He could let lose completely without concern. That was how he started a reputation as the 'Berserker of Vale.'

At the entrance in the back a big building he saw twins knocking furiously on the metal door. "Let us the FUCK IN!" One of them turned towards Leon. "Oh did a little boy lose his parents?"

He ignore them. Knocking on the metal door with the code. The slit open to show a man in sunglasses. "So the berserker is back again? Alright but no biting. That shit is weird."

"I'll do my best. Is crotch hitting still ok though?"

"NO! It never was."

The twins glared at him. "You better help us get in kid." The other quickly added. "We will make it worth your while."

Not caring about the promise he decided to help them out. They might prove helpful in pushing him further. After all they held themselves with the air of experience fighters despite their antics. "Can they come in too? They might be good."

The guard look them up and down. "It's your ass not mine."

Few hours later Leon found himself fighting Ben. The guy stood six foot three with pure muscle. He wielded a sledge hammer dripping with Leons' blood.

"How much do you got left in ya boy!" Ben exclaimed nearly smashing Leons' hip.

The guy seemed to have taken only bruises from Leon. Leon however had a broken arm and punctured lungs. The blood on the hammer was from him spiting it out from a hit to the stomach.

Despite being able to heal quickly these days, Leon still didn't know his semblance. With one lung filling with blood and an arm broken there was no way he could go berserk. Wait there is one thing he just thought of. Something he could do to at least take that dam hammer away.

Ben saw Leon run at him. "Idiot!" He swung sideways again.

This time Leon juke back and jump to catch the hammer at its' back s-wing. The result was him taking the hammer away. "Idiot!" He mock as he used the hammers' momentum to his advantage. Letting the handle slip over into his hands while swinging back around. First strike missed. The second strike didn't as he swung the hammer like choping wood on Bens' hip. All this while the hammer slowly gained kinetic energy landing one powerful blow.

Crunching sound rang aloud as Ben fell. "SON OF A BITCH!"

Leon held the hammer over him. Threatening to break more. "Give! Or the next to break is your legs!"

Horrified, Ben saw how serious Leon was from his rage. "Ok! I give up!"

The crowd of criminals roared in cheers. Some were angrily handing money over while others downed more shots. Junior used his hanging mic. "The winner is 'the berserker of vale, Leon!'. Now please refrain from breaking my stuff!"

Leon limp towards Junior. Whom was handling money as people left. "How much did I make tonight?"

"Give me a sec, kid. I barely collected all the money much less counted it."

This point the twins from earlier came up to talk to Junior. "We heard you have had some problems from people. We have an offer to help fix that."

Irritated, Junior said. "okay that's it. You two meet me at my office in one hour. You, see me in two." With that he left.

The twins look Leon up and down. "Nice fight. However you need to work on your defense. You can't always depend on having huge reserves of aura to heal from."

"I am actually trying to gain more control over my aura. These injuries help me train in forcing my aura to heal me faster. Not to mention increasing how much aura I have."

His statement astounded them. This guy is a lunatic! "And how fast are you going to be able to heal from those wounds? Looks like it would take a week at best."

"I had worse. A month ago I had chunks of flesh torn off on my backside. The girl had some modified cheese graters. Took me near three weeks to heal."

The twin in white raised an eyebrow. "Whats your semblance again?"

Fidgeting he said. "I don't have one. Or really know how to use it despite my aura being unlock for years now."

The one in black incredulously responded with a mature. "Da fuq? I mean, what in the living shit storm are you doing?"

His scroll buzzed. Glancing at it he saw his mom telling him to get back home asap. "I need to go now. But fe~irst, i'm hoping that this will help bring it out. I heard that peoples semblances manifest during times of danger." They barely got time to process this much less respond as he ran.

There was no way he was going to get the money he earned from junior. Junior told him and proved that if he didn't get his money before leaving than he didn't want it. So Junior would be taking his nights share of profit from the bets. Though he would rather that than making his mom more upset. He did wonder how she knew he was out when she was supposed to be asleep.

"How can you put me through this? After everything I did for you, you go and fight in illegal matches where people can and have died?"

She was right he thought. They were in the kitchen far from the bedrooms to let Velvet sleep. This way she could yell at him without worrying about Velvet.

Looking her in the eyes he told her some truth about himself. "It's in my blood."

"Where! All I see is your blood all over your body." She finally gave him something to wash himself up a little.

"I'm a Weirdenu! My family and people live only to fight! We fought so much and used certain fighting styles so much that our bodies evolved differently from normal humans."

She folded her arms in cynicism. "So where are they?"

Heart skipping as he thought how to not say the wrong thing. "I'm the last. We loved fighting too much and stayed in the grim territory too long. After thousands of years isolated it was only a matter of time before we were wiped out."

She now felt guilty for not looking harder into his past. Had she done so she would have known better than to bring his lose back up. "Fine. So what makes you different from normal humans than?"

He calmed down only enough to not yell. "Our organs allow for sudden massive increase in strength when we get excited or very angry. Our muscles grow faster and with a far higher pain tolorance we can grow stronger even faster. We use the ability Berserk in its full form. Giving us between two to five times more power. It also lets us ignore pain enough that we can only be stop by death or when no one else is left alive. The more pain we are in the stronger our hate becomes which increases the strength of beserk even more. Our sense of smell and hearing is several times better too. I can hear teachers in school classrooms when I'm walking down the streets and smell blood a city block away."

"Here watch this." She handed him her scroll.

There was a reporter going on about the fight clubs. He was talking and showing the old fight club location he first started in. "As you can see the outlines. There were many people found dead here yesterday with bruises and lesions." The camera showed outlines of many faunas and one or two humans. "Seems people are far too eager to fight that they won't wait for proper council approved tournaments with safety regulations in place. These poor souls choose instead to fight illegally and lost."

This didn't seem right. Faunas rarely ever showed up to these matches so why so many dead? Hell the last death recorded in the black books was seven years ago along with what others said. He hadn't seen anyone die yet and when he started he remembered how they actually had broke up fights when people used anything more dangerous than a simple sword.

The rules were basic too. No fire arms allowed. Stop when someone yielded and finally if someone died than your next. This was to kept deaths to a minimum. After all, who would participate if they could easily die? He wouldn't.

So why so many corps? Was there a gang war he didn't know? Was someone targeting Faunas? He needs to stop this before it bleeds even more into the daily lives of people.

"I'm sorry."

"Now promise you will stop getting involved with these criminals before you get the police at our doors."

"No."

"What?"

"No. You misunderstood. I'm sorry you are worried over something that isn't real. These fights are not that dangerous. I only end up as hurt as I am because it pushes my auras strength further. Someone is targeting both Faunas and these matches. I'm not sure who but they intend on killing more people until the fight clubs are closed... but the only way they would know about the fight clubs and if they are closed is if they participate in them."

"I can't believe what I am hearing. If you go down this route than I can't have you live here. I won't put my little Velvet in danger."

"I'm sorry. I just know that the police have no idea what they are getting into here. These clubs are connected to more criminals with more power than the average hunter. They won't let one of their source of income -."

"GET OUT!" She shoved him towards the exit. "JUST GET OUT!"

"Momy, what is going on? Why are you yelling at big bro?" Velvet yawned. Innocent of what was really going on.

Thinking quick, Leon said. "I forgot something from the stores and mom is telling me to go get it."

Her mother relaxed. Probably thought he was going to say something horrible. She went to her daughter.

"Just go back to bed darling. Everything is going to be ok."

"Ok mom. Goodnight Leon."

"I'll go now. I know someone that will let me crash with them for a little bit."

Glaring she spat out. "You're not coming back. You already put this family in enough danger."
