I stood in an open field, surrounded by bright flowers and with no sign of anything else. The air held a sweet dreamy scent as flower petals danced throughout the air. I looked around and saw that I was alone until I wasn't. A man stood amongst the flowers quite a distance from me and for some reason, it felt like I knew who he was.
"Who… Are you?" He stood there with the petals falling continuously. He refused to give an answer so I asked another question, "Where am I? I thought I was back in Mōro Antū Monastery, how am I here?" He stood there still, yet I knew he wasn't my enemy. The man stood there with a gentle smile on his face, I couldn't see his eyes from where I was standing.
Then he spoke, "Who I am is something you need to answer for yourself. As for 'where?'... Well, that is a bit harder to answer… though you could say this place, like my existence…" A heavy wind blew through causing flowers to flurry up. "... is something like a dream." All of a sudden I was engulfed in a torrent of flower petals.
After the wind died down I was left in what could only be described as an abyss. Everything was dark and silent until I heard someone calling for me, "Hey… Hey you… Wake up… WAKE UP DAMN IT!" Then everything started shaking as it seemed like I was being thrown into an earthquake. It only proceeded to get worse until everything shattered and I woke up from my dream.
After the yelling I felt someone shaking me, only to wake up to a dark-haired girl in a red noble house outfit. She heavily resembled Rin Tohsaka from Fate/Stay Night, right down to the crest that was on her weapon's hilt. She also looked rather annoyed and something told me that I was about to learn what was bothering her.
"What do you think you're doing?" The scowl she had most certainly caught me off guard as she made her demand. Until this point, I've tried to stay on either neutral or good terms with many of my fellow colleagues, but it seemed like she wasn't in the mood to try and have a nice chat. "I asked you a question, and I expect an answer."
"Well for one I was just wandering around and decided to sit here for a minute. I might have passed out due to relaxing and dropping my guard, I do apologize." I was still rather drowsy from having been abruptly woken up. To help with that I stood up slowly then popped my neck to wake me up a bit. I then said, "It happens to the best of us, besides, can't train right if I'm always falling asleep."
Her expression softened a tad after I apologized. "Well if it was an accident I can't fault you, just please make sure you don't repeat this. If you're going to sleep, do it in your own room, not on a bench." Her stance also softened to less of an imposing one to a more relaxed and dignified stance. What I noticed with her new body language was that she became less focused on the subject at hand.
I dusted myself off and was about to head back until a question popped into my head. "By the way, what's your name?" I didn't know why I thought of asking her about who she was. To be honest it wasn't my business but curiosity was always tempting.
She gave a look of surprise, then smiled with a smug face, "If you must know, I am graced with being named Anastasia von Adamantem the Third, heiress to the house of Adamantem, and champion of the Stathmore Mage Championship for Young Royalty. Surely you have heard of me, and with that said, if you get on your knees and beg I may be willing to give you my autograph."
"Well, it's a pleasure to meet you anyways, I'm probably just gonna call you 'Ana'. My name is Griffon." After I stated my name she seemed to retract a bit as though completely caught off guard by what I said. "Is everything ok Ana? Was it something I said?"
"Not even my father disgraces me by shortening my name! If you're going to act like that I'll have to punish you. You'd better hope we don't meet as enemies in the school's practice skirmishes!" Her face was red as she yelled at me. Her look was priceless and worth the yelling.
"Either way, I'd probably win in a one-on-one match if that's your weapon," I said as I pointed to the short estoc on her hip. This sent her into another tirade, meaning I was going to be here a while if she kept yelling.
"How dare you, I'll have you know that this weapon is my father's sword and has seen real combat, and I don't see a single knife on your person. Are you planning on just being a simple civilian worker? I'll have you know that this school is for training royalty and knights who will fight for their land, belief, and honor someday in real wars which I don't think a child like you would even be able to handle if you can't even stay awake when simply sitting at a bench. I honestly can't believe that a peon like you would have even been accepted into this prestigious monastery!" She was breathing pretty hard after she finished.
"I don't know what's more impressive, your ability to talk for a solid minute and a half without needing to take a breath, or my ability to not care about status. I'm heading back to my room, I have some sleep to get too." She had that scowl back and was muttering whilst blushing in embarrassment.
As I meandered my way back to my room, I was happily greeted by my hallway neighbor. Rory greeted me from her open doorway. "Looks like somebody had fun wandering the grounds, where have you been Amigo?" She very much reminded me of a Spanish version of Penny from the show RWBY.
"Got yelled at by some girl who believes she's a bigshot. Can't wait to humiliate her in a sparring match." After I said that Rory got a large smile on her face and gave me a thumbs-up, it looks like I'll have someone rooting for me when that time comes. For now, I simply walked into my room, lied down, and went to sleep. Maybe I'll meet that man from my last dream again.
