Being honest, weren't for my profession, I just couldn't enter the city and exited it as I pleased. To have an entrance, one must go into a designated control area to be checked. Since I was a special agent within the law, I just could pass without having to wait an hour or two.

I ended up reaching one of the many border areas, which gave me its usual welcome with the noise of the pedestrians, each one as flamboyant as the other, and the lights of the sky-touching buildings. I touched my choker and mixed with the crowd. I could barely move with all of these walkers with one of my disguises, imagine without one, when everyone and everything wants to take a photo with you. I sure enjoyed stardom, but not to the point of leaving myself at the mercy of the masses. I would lie if it wasn't nothing fancy: this disguise was the result of techno-magic, or something along the lines. It was an afterlife saving for Yo-kais like me, with such… remarkable features. Having a never resting city had its negatives, though, but police try to make like as orderly as possible, with heroes working alongside them, or at least most of them.

In a city like this, there are lots of disorganized criminals who try their luck doing small crimes, such as pickpocketing and minor drug trafficking. Although uncommon, hits towards banks do happen. Meanwhile the police protect areas and their inhabitants and heroes use patrols to help individuals in danger. They are also there to aid at disasters like car accidents or burnings. Heroes are basically there to support civil protection and give citizens a friendly face to identify with, something to aspire to.

Of course, there were heroes more recognizable than others. You could say that heroes more oriented towards the recovery of information weren't as profitable as the more people oriented hero. But, thanks to my past, I have some advantage with the celebrity thing…

Talking about helping, I got bite by the action bug. I finished those punks easily, and I wanted to make a little contribution to the community. And besides, what are heroes just for?

"Patrolling it is" I muttered to myself.

Looking around myself, I wasn't going find any kind of problem worth interfering with. The police had these huge areas controlled. There was no place for little poor Minty around here. So, my main priority now was leaving the light to enter the dark, if you know what I mean.

After a lot of walking, I ended up reaching quite solitary streets, ones where a lot of people would avoid if they could. It was still covered by numerous lampposts, so it wasn't a complete rat hole. The buildings where starting to get slower. No more luxury everywhere, for I was in a more "old town" like decadent area. It was just a perfect place for a patrol. I started to look around if someone needed my help for real. And when I say for real, is because there is always someone who-

"Please, help!" Someone screamed.

My ears went up immediately. The scream came down behind a small building, I hopped around its walls, with the objective of reaching the roof and see what was going on. When I was at the top it, I found a reptile-like Yo-Kai with a pipe surrounding a kid.

"You sure did a mistake coming here. Get ready for things to get brutal!" The thug said.

I deactivated my disguise.

"Can I have some too?" I said from above them, making the bully look up.

"Oi! Get down, you stupid hare!" He said with an angry voice, and I jumped to greet him.

"What are you waiting for? I'm all yours…"

With a loud scream, he came after me. Sadly for him, He didn't know that was what I was waiting for. I gathered my wind magic in the palm of my left hand and directed it towards him. He was sent flying for a few meter. When he reached the floor, he was K.O.

"You're not losing touch, you handsome bun." I giggled at my self-approval. I turned my look towards the boy. He looked like a garden dwarf, but at the top of a small cloud, and even smaller…

"Please, give me a moment." And I started to handcuff the thug. After that, I called the police to take him into custody. With that done, I approached the boy.

"That was incredible!" He said with enthusiasm.

"It sure was..." Wait, something wasn't going right. What was a child doing in this place, at this time? "But how did you get into this place at this time of the night?" I asked.

"I… I got lost." He said, but I knew there was something more to it.

"Please, tell me the truth" I looked at him. I can't help you if you don't trust me." I immediately supposed that he had parents. Not something ordinary.

"I-I…" He looked like he was going to cry. "I ran from home." He said.

Oh, no. An actual escape from home? During the night? In a city like this? Now, that was quite the extravagancy.

"Hey, hey." I comforted him. "I need you to tell me what happened, ok?"

"I broke… a special glass of my mom by accident. I was so scared…"

So, he has parents? Very rare, considering that… Actually, forget it.

"And so, you decided to run from home."

"Yes… I walked for a lot of time, and then…"

"You ran into this guy… Look, while you're with me, nothing bad will happen to you, ok?" I told him with a smile. He looked happier at my statement. But… "Look, your parents must be very worried about you."

"But… they must be hating me for doing that. I'm sure they don't want nothing with me anymore!" He looked sad again, so I hugged him.

"Don't say that. I'm sure they will unders-."

"They will never listen to me!"

He was starting to get irritating. I really wished for Snowy to be here with me. She was so good with these kind of situations…

Suddenly, I had an idea.

"You don't have to go alone." His eyes widened.

"You'll come with me? You'll do that for me?

"Of course! But we'll have to wait for the police to arrive. We need to tell them what happened here."

"You're the best!" He hugged me, with a wide smile.

After that, the police arrived.

"Didn't you just defeat a gang an hour ago?" The agent asked.

"I'm in a roll, it seems." I answered.

When they took the thug off, they asked me if I wanted them to take the child to their parents, but I declined the offer. The boy told them what happened and, then, we were off.

"You don't live very far from here, do you?" I asked, getting a new disguise to avoid attention.

"Er…"

After what seemed to be an hour or two of walking, we arrived to the block where he lived. This whole trip sure did annoy me, but I made a promise, right? After all, as I heard once: "Good hearts bleed more than bad ones."

We used the elevator, walked through a corridor, passing in front of many doors, and stopped in front of one. I looked at the boy, who looked nervous. I smiled at him, rubbed his head, put off my cover up, and called the door. His parents, who looked very similar to their son, opened it, and hugged him in a blink.

"The police told us that you were coming! We're so thankful!" His father told me.

"Why did you ran from us?" The mother asked his son, who looked at me.

I told them what happened, from the situation with the thug, to my conversation with their son.

"He didn't want to cause any harm, he just had a lot of bad luck." I ended my talking.

"Is that what happened?" The father asked the boy, who nodded in agreement.

"Look, that cup wasn't that important, my dear" His mother explained to him. "And it was just an accident. Everyone have a bit of bad luck sometimes."

The family got into a big hug. When it ended, they tried to invite me to take a drink, but I declined. At that moment, I was bored, and wanted to go home. Before doing so, the family wanted to take a photo with me.

"You'll always be my favourite hero, Miss Bunny Mint!" The boy told me before leaving.

"And I'll always remember you, little one."
