Hello everyone, I know I didn't put any information in the last chapter. That is because I was so excited when it was done that I totally forgot and just immediately posted it.
ANYWAY!
Welcome to the second chapter of Broken but Beautiful.
As you can tell it is nothing like my first story, but I think that will be good.
I don't think you want me to be rambling for a long long time so:
I do not own Batman the Animated series or any of their cannon characters. I do own Lucy and Lucy's mom (I haven't decided on a name, review with some ideas and I'll put a poll up of some of my favorites)
Chapter 2:
After dad's major 'tantrum', as mom called it, things went back to normal. Dad was happy and spending time with us, mom wasn't angry with him and I didn't notice any tension.
That went on for a couple of months. Everything was great and we were happy.
Until the end of the month of May. I had just finished my sophomore year of high school and summer was going to be great, dad had told us over dinner a week ago that we would be going camping the first week of summer.
I was so excited!
I had practically run home, but when I got there I was frozen in front of the door. I could hear yelling and screaming from both of my parents. Things were being thrown and broken and I don't even know what else.
I pushed my key into the lock and it clicked, and slowly I pushed open the door and the full volume of the fight hit me.
"YOU NEED TO CALM DOWN! LUCY IS GOING TO BE HOME SOON!"
"I DON'T GIVE A DAMN!"
"WELL I DO! I'M SORRY YOU DIDN'T GET YOUR PROMOTION! AND I'M SORRY YOU GOT SUSPENDED BUT NONE OF THAT IS MY FAULT!"
"Not your fault." he growled and then chuckled "I did what you told me, I was more caring and more understanding."
"No, all you did was hide your excessive force better. That isn't the same thing. Now, let's stop this before Lucy gets home." He scoffed, "I don't want her summer ruined because of this. I told you to keep work at work, this is home. We can talk about what's bothering you but that doesn't give you the right to scream at me and blame me for things that I have no involvement in. Now please, help me clean this up." I heard movement and peeked around the corner into the living room.
"You are damn lucky I put up with your shit. One of these days I won't anymore." dad was standing in mom's face, and it looked like she had a cut on her cheek.
"You are damn lucky that I don't pick up my daughter and leave in the middle of the night." mom hissed back with just as much fire in her eyes. I had never seen mom look like that. But it just got worse, dad lifted a hand up high and mom flinched back and lowered her eyes. Dad chuckled and smiled at mom, "That's what I thought."
I couldn't believe what I had just seen, mom was so angry, dad was going to hit her, I had to stop this, and I could only think of one way I quickly moved over to the front door and opened it before closing it loudly, "I'M HOME!"
"Hi sweetie," mom called from the living room, it sounded like she wanted to cry, "Why don't you head up to your room, the living room is a mess."
"Okay mom!" I said happily and plodded up the stairs and into my room, I quickly crouched by the heating vent, and I could hear what was going on in the living room.
"Here's what we are going to do, we are going to clean this up, I'm going to start lunch, and tomorrow we will go on our camping trip. Stop bringing your anger from work home. Please." she started out so strong but ended with a plea.
After what I had seen today I needed to pay more attention, things in this house weren't right.
With just a raise of his hand dad intimidated mom into breaking.
I can't see him how I used to anymore. Not after that.
I know it's short, I'm trying to get back into the rhythm of writing again and also trying to give some major backstory.
The story will really pick up when Lucy turns 19.
I hope you all enjoy and please review to let me know how I'm doing.
NO FLAMES PLEASE!
