AN: Admit it, even if Sonic is your favorite character, you are getting tired of him saving the day. I hope Sega will make another story game, with playable Sonic's side characters, having more importance. Until then, we have a fan fiction for that.

His allies were still recovering from the paralysis, inflicted by Black Doom. Which is why Shadow had to fight the Black Arms leader directly alone.

As the clash went by, Heroes were encouraging the black rebel through their hand walkie talkie devices, which were built by 2-tailed fox named Miles "Tails" Prower, after they've dealt with Metal Sonic 2 years ago.

Meanwhile at the ARK.

Espio the Chameleon was trying to hack the computer in order to turn on the ARK's most powerful weapon, able to pierce stars... The Eclipse Canon.

"Espio... are you in yet??" the voice belongs to the mobian bee named Charmy, who grabs the ninja's arm in attempt to move him away.

Before the Croc would've interfered, a voice from the walkie talkie got his attention "Vector, what's your status?" It was the Heroes group.

Annoyed for their situation, the Main Detective replies "We've found the canon, but we're having troubles activating it!"

(Flashback)

The professor's message was over.

Confused and overwhelmed Shadow was having a severe headache. Witnessing this, Vector checks his black companion.

"Hey Shadow... is everything okay?"

Coming back to his senses, Shadow lets his head free and opens his eyes the mirror of the soul.

Being detective required gumption. Thanks to that Vector was able to pick the person's emotions. Shadow current emotion was: Self-doubt.

And as far as Croc knew, that was very out of the hedgehog's character, he met for the 1st time.

The Main Detective couldn't help but to remember the name Shadow mentioned, almost whispering "Maria." That was the name of the girl from professor's message.

"The Black... Comet." Shadow muttered, while turning his gaze up, with Vector joining him.

"You think those black creatures are connected with that comet?!" a deep voice has caught their attention.

The voice belonged to the purple mobian chameleon: Espio, who joined the group of 2, alongside with Charmy the Bee, making that 4.

Shadow confirmed their statement "I feel it... they're up there. That's where the answers are... I've got to get to that comet!"

Preparing the 5 Chaos Emeralds he had collected, Shadow teleports himself to his destination.

"CHAOS CONTROL!"

Back to the Present.

"Boys, hacking the computer won't be enough!" Dr. Eggman began his explanation.

Surprised Charmy joins in with slight worry "WOW WOW-WOW... So what are we going to do? This canon is the only way to destroy that rock!"

Making an annoyed grunt, Eggman continues "You need to charge The Eclipse Canon by putting all 7 Chaos Emeralds on the canon's pedestal. Do you see it?!"

Looking around, Espio discovered said pedestal with 7 slots.

"I see it, it's close!" states slightly ninja. With the rest seeing it too.

Now Egg scientist reports further

"The Emeralds are now in Shadow's possession. I'll contact him to send him for the support, once he finishes Black Doom. Meanwhile, you stay there and wait for him!"

The Team didn't like to be bossed around, but they've complied.

After he has ended his "father's" life, Shadow has received the Eclipse Canon instructions from Doctor Eggman.

Flying down to the Comet's surface from the side of down, Shadow mumbled.

"There's only one thing left to do... For my atonement! CHAOS CONTROL!"

Shadow teleported himself with Black Comet away from the Earth's surface.

The Black Comet in space went flying toward the ARK, while Shadow flew to the ARK's Canon Room.

Reaching his destination, Shadow puts the Chaos Emeralds on pedestal's slots.

While the canon was charging, Espio has returned to his computer's hacking task.

The comet was approaching the Colony. Knowing fully well, what's going to happen if they fail to shoot, Vector intervenes Espio.

"Espio, we need you to focus, cuz if we don't hurry the comet will obliterate the ARK along with us!"

Annoyed ninja retorts "Easier said than done... who signed me up for this anyway?"

The Chaotix kid-brother declares "That's it... I'll do it... Get out of the way!" while preparing his sting.

Knowing what kind of trouble-maker Charmy can be, Vector shouts

"GET BACK HERE, YOU IDIOT!

Too late, the bee with all of his might has drove his sting toward the panel.

A sparkling sound got the attention of 4

Reaching it's source - the ARK's windows, they see the green beam piercing the Black Comet, which leads to it's shattering.

A minute of pause later, The Detectives has returned to their senses, celebrating their victory along with the Earth's inhabitants.

The planet was saved again. Now the people may rebuild the world and return to their happy lives.

Vector's walkie talkie device rung again "Vector are you there?" the voice belonged to the Detectives' old friend Knuckles the Echidna.

"Copy that, Knuckles."

Another voice joined in "Alright, we've reached the ARK for your retrieval, Tails will send you our location through the device." that was Sonic

The croc acknowledged the words "Got it. Alright boys let's get moving!"

Espio and Charmy complied.

AN: I've decided to make the age of characters like this, assuming the events of Shadow the Hedgehog were happening at the year 2005. And the events of other Sonic games were happening around their release date.The characters' canon age was at their debut.

Shadow the Hedgehog: 54 years old.

Sonic the Hedgehog: 29 years old.

Rouge the Bat: 32 years old.

Knuckles the Echidna: 27 years old.

Amy Rose: 24 years old.

Cream the Rabbit: 9 years old.

Charmy the Bee: 16 years old.

Miles "Tails" Prower: 21 years old.

Espio the Chameleon: 26 years old.

Vector the Crocodile: 30 years old.
