CHAPTER ONE

FOG

"Songshadow, Songshadow!" Bluekit scampered over, "When's Flameclaw coming back from patrol? He's been gone soooooooo long!" she complained, nearly head butting Fogkit in the process thanks to her blindness.

Fogkit, however, was quick to notice and moved out of his sister's way before it could happen. He didn't want his sister charging into him at full force - it would've hurt!

Reedkit shifted, now awake from his nap because of them. "Oh? Did I miss something?"

"Not a thing!" Bluekit groaned, tapping her tail in front of her so she could tell where she was walking before she curled up near Songshadow's belly. "I just want to play with Flameclaw!"

"And you will, my love. He's barely been gone!" Songshadow laughed. "Why don't you play with Primrosekit instead?"

"Not now. I'm tired now!" Bluekit explained, her speaking muffled because it was in her fur.

Fogkit rolled his eyes at her drama, deciding he would go play with her- more so worried she had heard the conversation between his sister and Songshadow and felt left out because she didn't want to play with Primrosekit.

"Hey, Primrosekit." Fogkit fluffed his fur. "Do you want to play a game?"

Yawning, Primrosekit got to her paws. "Sure! That sounds fun!"

"Now, now, Primrosekit. Owlleaf has to check up on you, so you'll have to wait until afterward." With a frown, Primrosekit retreated back to Tulippetal.

Fogkit sighed, wandering around the nursery, which was never truly wandering because it wasn't all that big and there was nothing to do. After exhausting himself, he went back to Songshadow and decided that he would copy what his brother was doing: napping.

Fogkit…

He opened his eyes, confused about the new terrain around him. Where was Songshadow? Where were his siblings? Tulippetal? Primrosekit?

"Who are you?" he called out meekly, trying to figure out the voice of the cat. "I've never heard your voice before. It's very pretty!"

A small ball of light changed into the form of a pure white kit in front of him. Her eyes were an icy blue and she stared at him.

"Blossomkit?" He squinted, thinking about the other sister he had that his parents had told him about. "Is that you? Are you going to come home?" But the kit quickly disappeared, seeming like it popped out of existence.

An angel will come and the river shall be destroyed…

"What does that mean?" He tilted his head, baffled. "An… angel will come? And destroy a river? How does that make sense?" He looked around for the voice again.

The moon will change and never be the same, removing the sun forever.

Shimmering, a starry light brown she-cat appeared before him.

"Who are you?"

"My name is Sorrelfire. I am a former warrior of PetalClan," she dipped her head, "and you, Fogkit, must save the Clans from their demise."

"Me? I'm a kit! I can barely even leave the nursery!"

Sorrelfire did not reply; instead, she repeated herself: "An angel will come and the river shall be destroyed. The moon will change and never be the same, removing the sun forever." When she finished, she began to vanish from view.

"Wait, where are you going? Come back! I don't understand yet!"

"You will in time, Fogkit. You will in time."

….

"Flameclaw's back!" Bluekit cheered, shaking Fogkit awake from his slumbers.

Fogkit blinked at her and glanced around, relieved to know he was back in RippleClan with his family. Oh, it was just a weird dream. That makes sense…

"Hey, Fogkit!" Flameclaw set a mouse down in front of Songshadow before bending down to his son's height, "Wow, are you getting bigger? You seemed a lot tinier the last time I saw you!"

"Maybe?" Fogkit forced a smile through his anxiousness. "It hasn't even been a day, but maybe I had a sudden growth spurt? Maybe?"

Flameclaw chuckled as his mate started on the mouse. Reedkit was also grinning, bouncing on his toes.

"Can we play now?" Bluekit practically begged, nudging Flameclaw in the leg.

"I'm afraid it'll have to wait, Bluekit. I'd like to stay here with your mother for a bit before we go off and leave her behind in the nursery." Flameclaw grinned and Songshadow rolled her eyes before resting her head on his shoulder.

"Finnnnnnne! Only 'cause I'm hungry too!" She beamed at him, turning back to her mother.

Don't forget what I told you, Fogkit… He heard Sorrelfire's voice faintly. It has importance.
