Dylan's Perspective
I found myself splayed out on the grass, arms resting behind my head next to the lake, a little past the cottage, my deep grayish blue eyes staring at the sky. 'It looks so similar to my world's sky, amazing.'
"Hmm, so far the mods I know of are the enhanced combat and martial arts, advanced building, more tools, furniture, and advanced crafting," I looked towards the horizon to see the sun rising at a steady pace. "As well as real time mod, *sighs* at least I know I won't be rushed if I'm away from my home."
Just how many more mods are there that I'm forgetting? Can't be too many.
*Grumble* I rubbed my stomach with a frown, I'm starting to get hungry, now that I know that this is all real, I need to start thinking about food, and not just for me. I have two more mouths other than my own to worry about as well.
"Hmm, farming will take too long with the real time mod, and I can't hunt without weapons. Sounds like it's as good a time as any to try my hand at fishing." With a push, I sprang back onto my feet and took out my stone knife as I headed towards the nearest tree to find myself the straightest stick that I could find. Thankfully, it wasn't too hard to rig together a fishing spear for myself.
With sharpened stick in hand, I began to take my shirt off preparing to hop into the lake, wouldn't do to get my clothes all soaked now. "Now, let's see if I had the advanced fishing mod installed as well."
Culipa's Perspective
I felt the weariness from the other day wash away as I began to wake up, I moved the covers off and brought myself to a sitting position on the bed, stretching my stiff muscles as I stifled a yawn.
*Grumble* Blinking in surprise, I looked down at my stomach as it growled angrily at its emptiness. It would seem that with all the 'excitement' from yesterday that I had completely forgotten to eat anything.
*Gruuumble* My face shifted to a deadpan as my gaze slowly drifted over to my sister's bed, the orangette all curled up with her back facing towards me.
Smirking in amusement, I got up from my bed and made my way towards hers, crouching besides the frame as I gently shook her shoulder. "Hehe, c'mon ya little orange goofball, up and at em, it's time to go get something to eat."
Groaning tiredly, the girl rolled over so that her tired hazel orange eyes met my scarlet gaze, a mixture of annoyance and sleepiness all over her face as she glared weakly at me. "Mmmmm, I don't wanna go thooooouugh! It's so nice and cooomfy." She mumbled as she grasped her pillow and hugged it like some teddy bear, making me chuckle at her attitude.
"Hruuaagh! Dammit!" We both blinked in surprise at the sudden sound that rang out, before a deadpan reappeared on my face when I realised the culprit must have been that strange human once more. And with just a glance I could tell by the look on my sister's face that she was a little worried for the guy. 'I guess there's no helping it.'
With a reluctant sigh, I stood back up and with one last stretch, I began making my way towards the source of the noise. "Hold on, I'll go see if that idiot is alright."
The look of relief and joy on Cupa's face was just too adorable for my two hearts to handle sometimes.
Dylan's Perspective
'Damn, I only caught enough for the two girls, that's fine I guess, I'll figure something else out for myself.' Thankfully I had installed an advanced fishing mod, so the spear had actually worked like it should have. But, seeing as I've never fished before in my entire life, my skills were lacking to say the least and I had only just managed to net myself a few smaller… trout maybe? 'Note to self, learn how to identify fish.'
"Oi, human, you're not dead out here are you?" Hearing a familiar voice calling my name, I looked back towards the shore just in time to see Culipa stepping out of the cottage with an irritated yet surprisingly concerned look.
"You know, I have a name." I retorted dryly as I made my way out of the water, my comment drawing her gaze towards me. As her blood ruby eyes scanned over my physique, I couldn't help but feel as if I was being judged, like she was trying to determine something but I wasn't sure exactly what.
"Hmm, not too bad, for a human that is," She stated in her usual curt tone, ignoring my not so subtle complaint entirely. "Anyways, I just came out here because Cupa was worried you hurt yourself or something."
Great, and now I felt bad for upsetting the little one, hopefully it wasn't too bad though.
"S-sorry," I rubbed the back of my head awkwardly, "but I got us some breakfast, I hope you two like fish." I sheepishly smiled as I held up the few fish, 'probably trout.' that I had managed to wrangle up.
Her eyes widened for a moment in surprise, but just as quickly as they did they returned back to normal, "Geez, you really are a strange human."
I'll just take that as a compliment.
Well, time to get to cooking, I at least know how to do that.
' ..Wait, do I even have the right mod to cook the way I want to?' .
10 minutes later, Cupa's Perspective
This bed is sooo comfy! I've never slept on something so soft before in my life, not even those Villager beds could come close to this level of comfort and softness.
"Huuaaaaah, I don't think I'll ever be able to get up again. I'm now stuck in a prison of comfort," I mumbled with a blissful sigh while snuggling further into the cottony heaven, before frowning slightly in worry. "I sure hope that human is okay."
It would have sucked if he'd gotten hurt or something after he had been so nice, not to mention made this absolutely amazing bed for her.
However, before my worry could get too bad, the most amazing aroma in the world suddenly invaded my nostrils, making my eyes snap open as I sat straight up. Climbing out of bed, it felt as if my body was practically moving by itself as it gravitated towards the source of that mouth watering smell.
*Groooowl* My face grew red as my stomach growled ravenously, screaming at me with a fury to find whatever was making that delicious scent and devour it.
"Oi, Cupa! Hurry up and get down here, breakfast is ready!" My sister's voice rang out from another room, echoing through the mostly empty building. Yet all that mattered to me was one word that she'd said, Breakfast! Breakfast meant food, and food meant whatever that awesome smell was!
In a blink, my old clothes were heaped up on the floor as I slipped on some new ones, yet another thing the nice human had made for me last night.
They weren't anything too fancy, a nice green t-shirt and a pair of black shorts, but compared to my old ones they might as well have been top luxury. They just felt so nice and fit perfectly, none of that annoying itchiness and snagging that her old set had caused whenever she moved.
"Guaah! Focus Cupa! Food's awaiting!" I shook myself out of my daze and made my way out of the room, and hurriedly towards my destiny, otherwise known as BREAKFAST!.
Culipa's Perspective
While I was waiting for my sister I noticed something a bit off with the food, or more specifically the proportions. There was enough for two people, but only just the two.
In an instant my eyes narrowed in suspicion as my lips curled into a frown once more. 'Is he planning something?'
Before I could dwell much further on this though, my train of thought was derailed as my sister came barging into the room, heaving like a beached Guardian. The girl never was much for running, or for exercise in general for that manner, so seeing her sweating and out of breath as she staggered into the room was pretty much par for the course. "I *huff* I'm here!"
It took all my willpower to hold back the snicker threatening to escape my lips as Cupa tried to catch her breath. The little orangette always acted all tough and ready, but in the end she really was just a cute little goofball.
"So it would seem." It was then I noticed that instead of her oversized and admittedly ratty hoodie that made her look like a deflated balloon, she was wearing an adorable outfit that actually fit her. Now, rather than looking like a poor but cute homeless child, the energetic orangette truly shined as the lovely young girl that she was.
"Guess all it took to wake you up was the smell of breakfast, huh, who'd have thunk?" I sarcastically stated with a teasing grin plastered on my face.
The little green and orange ball of energy pouted angrily, turning away with a huff at getting called out like that. However, after a moment, Cupa's anger vanished and was replaced with confusion as she looked around. "Hey, where's that nice human at? I wanted to thank him for these awesome clothes."
And like that, my bad mood was back as I pointed towards the area the human calls a 'kitchen'.
"He's over in that room, preparing breakfast." As I spoke, my mind wandered back to the concerning fact that there was only enough for two. 'Either he must have already eaten, or he's put something in those fish. Better not take any chances, the moment I smell poison I'm gonna clobber him!'
"Sorry for the wait!" My body tensed, and my eyes narrowed, ready for any trick that this human could pull as he walked up to them with food in hand.
'Here's where the whole friendly act gets dropped, and soon, I'll drop him as well.'
Cupa didn't seem to notice anything out of the ordinary, the poor girl always was too trusting for her own good. "Took you long enough, I'm so hungry I feel as if I'm going to faint!" She dramatically, putting a hand over her head and acting as if she were about to collapse.
"Ehehe, well, sorry to have made you starved," He set down two makeshift wooden plates in front of myself and my sister, that had cut up fish on them, he then brought out two carved out sticks with three prongs on the ends of them and set them down in front of us as well. "Here you go, it's the best I could do with what I have right now."
Staring at him suspiciously, I subtly moved closer to my plate and gave it a discreet sniff. 'Huh, no poison? Then what's his plan? If not to poison us, maybe to lure us into a false sense of security?'
Deciding to go for the more direct approach, I gave him a piercing glare while pointing to the two servings. "..Say, where's yours?"
His simple response to sheepishly scratch the back of his neck only served to put me further on edge as he refused to make eye contact.
"Ohh, uhh, I-I already ate, so don't worry about me." I didn't even need my intuition to tell that he was lying, a Zombie Clan member could have told you that he was lying.
*GROOOOOOWL!*
He kept up his poker face like a champ, but it was ultimately belied by the fact his cheeks were glowing redder than a redstone torch.
"Mister human, why haven't you eaten yet?" My sister asked with a small frown before I could say anything.
"U-uhh, d-don't worry about that, just dig in!" He tried to reassure us, but my eyes simply twitched in exasperation as I realised what he was actually doing. Stupid chivalrous idiot.
Unfortunately for him though, not only did my sister not dig in but she pulled out her most powerful weapon, her puppy dog pouty face. Not even the highest tiered mobs with the strongest determination could resist the effects of that look.
"Well, I would have liked to eat with you, but there wasn't enough food for all three of us," And sure enough, not even a minute later the strange human broke. "Besides, I can go on without food for awhile, it's no big deal!"
*GROOOWL*
My sister's gaze only got more worried for him whilst I myself felt nothing but confusion.
'What he was doing, even though he's a human, he's just looking after other people's needs above his own,' I wondered with a raised brow, before sighing in defeat. "C'mon Cupa, let's just eat."
"But what abou-"
"He's made up his mind, let's just eat." I cut Cupa off sternly before taking my first bite of the fish, my eyes widening the instant the meat touched my tastebuds. 'Holy mother of Explosions! It's amazing!'
It was quite possibly the most delicious and succulent piece of meat I'd ever eaten, with the harmony of flavors spreading across my tongue. But, for some reason, eating it knowing that the human sacrificed his own chance at a meal despite my constant aggression caused a painful lump in my throat.
Cupa was a bit more hesitant, looking to the human as if asking for permission, to which he simply gave her a warm smile and nodded.
Picking up the wooden utensil and scooping up a piece of the cooked fish, the girl raised it up to her mouth and nibbled on it a bit… before almost immediately stuffing the entire fork in her mouth with sparkling eyes "Soooooo gooooooood!"
After that, any sense of reluctance was destroyed as Cupa all but shoveled the rest of the fish into her mouth, small chunks and juice dribbling down her chin.
Concerned, and no small bit grossed out, as I watched the normally sweet child ravenously tear her food apart in mere moment, I quickly yet much more tidely scarfed my own meal down before she decided to come after it next. However, with each mouthful I swallowed, that same painful lump reminded me that it was there, and only seemed to get worse once I finished.
Apparently I wasn't so good at hiding my unease as I thought either, as the human looked at me with that same friendly grin on his lips. "Hey, you don't have to worry about me, I'm sure I'll figure something out in no time."
Huffing, I looked away as if insulted, the tides turned as I was now the one refusing to make eye contact. "As if I was worried about a human like you!"
I wouldn't admit this to anyone, but... those words did help ease my conscience, if only a little bit.
30 minutes later, Dylan's Perspective
After everyone was done eating, Culipa decided to go off to who knows where, only telling Cupa that she'd be back soon and nothing else. As for Cupa herself, she just kinda wandered off while calling out for somebody named 'Emilia', probably a friend of hers who lives nearby.
Meanwhile, I found myself resting on my back in the same spot as earlier, pondering on my next moves. 'Alright, so, time to start thinking for the long haul. I can't hunt normally without weapons and I have no idea how to set snares, and I completely suck at fishing so that's a no go.'
There was always farming, I was actually brought up in a farm so naturally I picked up on how to run one for myself, I'll just have to hope that this world has vegetable seeds still.
As I was pondering this, I was completely unaware of the fact that there was a new presence lurking in the shadows... well, I would have been unaware of it at least if it weren't for the fact they were quite literally right in front of me.
A comical sweatdrop rolled down the back of my head as I stared at the new arrival, a young lady, who was trying and failing miserably at hiding behind a tree. The strange thing though was that despite being at least a few inches taller than me, her soft features and slight amount of baby fat made it seem like she was at least a few years younger than myself.
She had straight dark brown hair that framed her face and ran all the way down to her lower back, pole skin that showed she didn't stay out in the sun much, and soft magenta eye full of nervousness whilst her outfit consisted of a long midnight black jacket and short black skirt, both worn out and dirtied.
"Oi, you can come out now!" The moment those words left my lips the girl jolted in surprise with a quiet "Eeep!" and tried hiding further behind the tree, trembling in fear or nervousness, likely both. "I can still see you, just come on out already."
"Uufuuuu," With a soft nervous sounding mumble the unknown girl slowly and very hesitantly came out of the shadow, 'revealing' herself looking away with an embarrassed look upon her face. And now that I got a better look at her clothes, they seemed in even worse shape than I thought, the darn things looked ready to fall apart any second in fact.
But what surprised me the most were her eyes, which had actually started glowing as she covered the lower half of her face shyly with her hands. In fact, her whole demeanor just screamed shy as she blatantly avoided making direct eyesight.
Now that I got a good look at her though, I could at least tell she was well and truly around Cupa's age despite her odd height.
Seeing how she wasn't getting any closer herself, I pushed myself back up to my feet and walked towards her instead.
"Hey, you really shouldn't be sneaking up on people like that, what if I were someone dangerous? You could get hurt or worse." It seemed my words were a bit more impactful than I thought as she crouched slightly while burying her face further into her hands, giving the illusion that she was literally shrinking in embarrassment.
"S-s-sorry, I-I-I-I was ju-just looking for-OOOF!" She started to mumble out before being abruptly cut off by a green and orange blur that crashed into her side, almost bowling her over.
Eyes widening in alarm, I was about to rush over and help, only to stop after my first step when I saw that said blur was none other than Cupa, who was now hugging the much taller girl's side while rubbing her cheek against hers like a kitty cat. "EMILIAAAA! I found you!"
Emilia's Perspective
When I had arrived at the usual spot by the lake that Cupa and I meet up at every other day, I'd have never imagined there to be some weird new house to be there, let alone a strange new face I'd never seen before.
I tried to go say hi and introduce myself, but my stupid nerves decided to remind me that I suck at meeting new people and before I realised what I was doing, I was hiding behind a tree as I waited for the strange newcomer to eventually leave.
Unfortunately I forgot that I'm also terrible at hiding because he spotted me almost instantly, stupid tallness. So when he began to scold me I couldn't help the overwhelming heat growing on my face and spreading all the way to my ears, but at least he seemed like a nice guy so far.
And just when I thought my embarrassment couldn't grow any more extreme, my best friend Cupa decided to jump in, literally.
Which is where I now found myself, my best friend cuddling me excitedly in some amazing looking new clothes and my face turning redder than freshly farmed tomatoes.
"U-uhh, C-Cupa, it's nice to s-sure you too, but-but could you p-please let go now?!" Thankfully, the energetic orangette obliged, springing off of me almost as quickly as she'd pounced with a playful giggle.
"Sorry Emilia, I was just happy to see you, I was looking for you everywhere."
"O-oh, well, I didn't mean to…" I started to apologize, my cheeks heating up even more somehow, but trailed off when I finally noticed something different about my friend. "Your hoodie! Where'd it go? And what are you wearing!?"
My stutter completely gone, taken over by my newfound surprise and shock as my eyes ran over the girl in her new attire. She never took her hood off, especially in front of strangers!
Yet here she was, a huge grin on her lips and literally bouncing in place with excitement as she patted her new clothes. "Heehee, they're new clothes that nice human over there made for me! Aren't they awesome?"
In her excitement, Cupa completely missed as my whole body locked up in shock and disbelief at what I had just heard. 'Th-that man who scolded me i-is a… is a…. a h-human?!'
All I could do was sit there paralyzed with fear, trembling in terror as my gaze jerked back towards the now identified human.
"Uhh, Emmy? Hello? Anyone home?" My friend shook me by the shoulder, trying to get my attention to no avail.
I was too focused on the human, who's gaze I'd only just realised hadn't once shifted off of me, only further cementing my fear. After what felt like an eternity 'it' had decided to up and leave to who knows where! 'Oh god! Oh god! Oh god! He must be getting ready to harvest me for pearls!'
I wanted to run, to scream in terror, to do something at all, but my body just refused to budge, my own fear rooting me firmly in place as my doom came closer and closer. At least, that's what I thought while Cupa grabbed me by the arm and dragged my frozen form along.
"C'mon Emilia, it's okay. He's really not as bad as you're thinking. He's really nice in fact...uhh, you in there?" She waved her hands in front of my face, but I still had the expression as if my spirit had left my body.
"Kuuuuuu." Was the only thing even slightly intelligible that made it past my lips.
My name is Emilia of the Ender Clan, I'm 16 years old and this encounter with a member possibly one of the most dangerous races in the worlds would change everything for me.
Cupa's Perspective
Guuh, what's wrong with her? Was it something I said? She usually doesn't act all stiff like a feral Golem.
"Mmm," Suddenly, the metaphoric redstone lit up above my head as I got the best idea ever. "I know! You should see him in action! I don't understand some of the stuff he does, but it's really cool!"
Somehow she became even more stiff, which I didn't think was even possible but oh well, so I simply grabbed her hand and dragged her along in the direction the nice human had gone. She must've been so excited already!
Dylan's Perspective
'Are all the inhabitants of this world in such poor condition?' I couldn't help but wonder as I remembered the poor condition that Emilia's clothes had been in, just like Cupa and Culipa's had been. My brow furrowed as some not so pleasant possibilities popped into my mind, but were quick to be shelved for the time being.
I'd have to worry about that later when I had more to work with, right now I had a girl who was in desperate need for some new clothing. Luckily, I knew where there should be some sheep grazing nearby, having stumbled upon a herd yesterday whilst I was exploring.
Bringing out my map, I traced a finger over a spot I'd marked with a charcoal circle while looking around to make sure I was on the right track before glancing up at the sky. 'It's still pretty early, I should have more than enough time to get what I need.'
*Rustle* *Rustle* "Hehehe…"
A comical sweatdrop ran down the back of my head again as I looked back the way I came, where I could clearly hear Cupa and her friend following behind me in what had to be the least stealthiest manner I'd ever seen. I certainly don't remember a mod that made giggling 'bushes' that follow me around while leaving trenches in the ground.
Deciding to ignore it for now as I made my way over the hill ahead of me, I was greeted to a breathtaking view of the Plains and of the sheep grazing the fields.
Taking it all in with a deep breath, a warm grin made its way onto my face. 'This world is truly beautiful.'
Before I could make my way down the hill to the peaceful sheep though, a loud shocked gasp suddenly rang out as Cupa completely abandoned her 'hiding spot' with her Ender friend in tow. "Sheep?! Actual Sheep!? Oh my gosh! I thought that they were all gone! They seem so different from what I imagined!"
Watching as the excitable Creeper girl stared down at the sheep with stars in her eyes along with her friend, Emilia if I remember correctly, as if she had just seen a mythical creature come to life, my lips curled into a frown.'That's strange, Sheep should be super plentiful in this world but she's acting like they should be extinct... something definitely isn't right with this place.'
With that thought added to the growing list of mysteries I needed to solve later, I made my way down the hill towards the sheep.
'God, I forgot how cool the realistic animals mod was.' I thought to myself with a smile as I reached the closest one, which could have easily passed off as a normal sheep rather than the standard blocky Vanilla version. They reminded me of my old home, back on the old family farm.
I gently patted it, her now that I got a closer look, on the head, earning a happy bleat as my fingers ran through her soft and fluffy wool. 'This will do perfectly.'
Pulling out my stone knife, I started to line it up along the animal's back, but before I could do anything the sounds of frantic running behind me followed by a thump and muffled yelps caused me to pause with a deadpan. 'And that's probably Cupa again.'
Looking back, sure enough both orangette and her friend were faceplanted at the foot of the hill, the former's arms flailing around wildly.
""Mmhmfmfmhmm!?"" They tried to say something at the same time, but with their faces buried all that could be heard was a bunch of muffled gibberish
Eventually though, Cupa managed to pry her face free with an over dramatic gasp, before scrambling back to her feet and grabbing the front of my shirt with a pleading look. "Mister human! Please don't kill them! I don't want them to go away again! This is the first time I've ever seen them and they look so cute!"
My eyes widened slightly as she kept begging me to spare the fluff balls with tears even starting to trickle at the corner of her eyes, though whether that was at the thought I was gonna kill the Sheep or because of that tumble she and her friend took down the hill was debatable.
"Hey, easy there you little rascal, there's no need to cry," I told her with a gentle smile while brushing off the dirt on her with the end of my shirt before rubbing the top of her head, making a light blush pop up on her cheeks. "You have nothing to worry about, I had no intention of hurting these guys, I used to be a farmer you know."
She seemed confused at that last part, so I decided to show rather than tell and gently prized her hands off so I could turn back to the sheep.
Glanced back at the worried girl, I smiled again and with slow deliberate motions showed her as I began shearing the wool off the sheep, being extra careful not to disturb the critter too much or cut close enough to the skin to where she'd be uncomfortable.
"See, not hurting, just… giving her a bit of a haircut you could say," I stated after I got all the wool I could safely, the now mostly bare Sheep bleating softly as I pet her head again before trotting off to a fresh patch of grass. "You wanna help me do the next one?"
Having calmed down a lot at that point, Cupa couldn't help but smile excitedly as she hopped in place. "Okay! What do I do?"
"Well it's real simple, first you…" As I explained the process step by step while leading the excited girl to the next closest Sheep, I couldn't help but notice in the corner of my eye as Emilia seemed to noticeably relax a little bit, just enough to robotically follow after us.
1 hour later
It would seem that Cupa was quite the natural Shearer and Sheep herder, as it only took but an hour at most to shear up a half dozen more of the fluffy animals. During that time, I managed to get at least a tiny bit more acquainted with her tall friend. Granted Emilia had yet to actually speak to me, but she was at least not acting like she turned to stone whenever I got within ten feet of her.
"Alright, I think we should head back," I said after stuffing the last few bits of wool into my inventory, which was a lot harder than the game had made it seem like. "Lord knows Culipa will kick my ass if she can't find you."
"Yep, that sounds like something sis would do." Cupa agreed with a giggle whilst Emilia just nodded shyly, both aware of just how short tempered the Silverette could be at times. So, to not incur the woman's wrath unjustly, we all began making our way back to the lake cottage.
When I got to the top of the hill though, I took one last look back at the glade and the surrounding area with a smile. 'This will be a great spot to start a farm.'
With this in mind my pace towards home subconsciously sped up, leading to Cupa and her friend to hurry along with me, not wanting to be left behind.
Culipa's Perspective
'That stupid human, for some reason he always manages to get on my nerves!' I was currently on my way back to the cottage, a makeshift cloth bag filled with supplies slung on my shoulder that I had gotten from a 'friend'...
*Spt* *Spt* *Spt*
...Along with my current company.
Walking at my side was a small child, looking to be around 7-8 years old, with bright orange hair, eyes, and dress. In fact, aside from her face and some of her neck, every part of the girl was orange, ever slightly translucent, and gooey looking such as how globes of her 'hair' literally dripped into her shoulders every few moments, denoting her status as one of the Slime Clan.
The only reason she was coming along with me is because that 'friend' wanted to know where I got these new clothes from. I've no clue as to why, since I could see that he'd already gotten similar clothes made and was even having his other two Slimelings pass them around to those who needed them. But I owed him a few favors so I had no choice but to play along for now, even if that stupid squelching sound each step was slowly grinding away at my sanity.
"So, what exactly does your boss want you to do when we get there?" I asked after a few more minutes passed, trying to strike up some casual conversation to pass the time.
*Spt* Spt* *Spt*
'Okay, let's try this again,' I thought as my brow twitched slightly. "Anyways, whatever it is you'd better not cause any trouble for us."
*Spt* *Spt*
A comical sweatdrop ran down the back of my head as the orange Slimeling remained silent. "Not much of a talker are yah?"
*Spt* *Spt* *Spt*
Yup, just the answer I was expecting, 'This is gonna be a long thirty minutes back home.'
15 minutes later, Emilia's Perspective
After seeing those creatures called 'Sheep's for the very first time, I was at a loss of what to think. They had been way different than anything my parents had told me they were like, they hadn't been even slightly blocky looking, and the way the human had been so kind and gentle with them was so confusing.
Shouldn't he have slaughtered them all relentlessly like I had been told humans did?
Currently, I found myself sitting inside the strange house that man called a 'cottage' and I was currently sitting on something he'd called a 'couch', staring at my palms as I waited for him to finish whatever it was he was doing.
During that time, a strange mixture of curiosity, joy, fear, and confusion flooded through me as I tried to understand what was happening.
'Is this all some weird dream? Is he really a human? If so, why was he so nice? I'm so confused.' Thankfully Cupa was right by my side trying her best to comfort me, not that it was very effective, if anything just making me more confused, but I still appreciate her trying.
"Don't worry so much Emmy! It's not good for your complexion you know!" She stated with her best 'elder sis' impression, causing me to let loose a small giggle at her silliness.
"Hey, I'm done, you can come here now." A quiet yelp slipped past my lips as the human's voice rang out, causing me to turn towards the source instinctively to see him peeking in from the other room, his arm extended towards me making a 'come hither' motion.
'Oh god I'm so nervous, what is he gonna do?' He seems nice and apparently even Culipa trusted him, but that could just be a facade to make me let my guard down. "Mmmmm."
Suddenly a gentle hand rested on my shoulder as my friend leaned into view with an encouraging smile. "Relax Emilia, he's not gonna do anything bad, I promise."
Smiling back weakly, I nodded while hesitantly pushing myself off the couch, only for my nerves to shoot up again almost instantly and freeze me in place, again.
I wasn't still for long though as I felt something being shoved against my back, and looked over my shoulder to see Cupa pushing me towards where the human had called me too. "E-eehhh?! C-Cupa! S-s-stop!"
"No way! You're going to see just how awesome he can be! Trust me!" The orangette stated, ignoring my pleas as she kept shoving, gradually moving me closer and closer in the human's direction.
'I really hope that Cupa's right about this human,' I thought with my eyes closed, horrible images popping up in my thoughts on the horrifying stories I'd been told about how humans would abduct my kind for our Pearls. 'I don't want to be harvested!'
"Ohh, there you are." My eyes shot open in shock as I looked around in confusion at the unfamiliar room, before looking back just in time to see Cupa grinning deviously as she vanished behind a corner.
'That doesn't make me feel better at all!'
Realising there was not much else I could do, I took in as much of the room as possible, the small part of my brain not paralyzed in total fear noting the nice furniture and strange looking bed. Meanwhile, the human himself was off to the side, standing next to a weird table with something in his arms.
"Here you go." Flinching as he walked towards me, my arms snapped shut and I curled in on myself as I prepared for the pain that was no doubt about to come. However, I was not prepared for something soft to be set into my arms.
Not reacting for a few moments, I eventually tried peeking with one eye very carefully, before both snapped open in disbelief when I saw the pile of brand new clothes resting in my grasp.
Looking back up towards the human in confusion, all my worries seemed to melt away when I saw that kind smile on his face.
What he said next completely changed everything I thought about him, "Try those on, I'm sure that what you're wearing isn't too comfortable. I had to guess your sizes a bit, so let me know if they're too big or small."
With that he left the room, not realizing the impact this simple action of his had on me as the door closed behind him.
The cloth slid across my fingers as I held the new clothes out to see, the softness of the fabric leaving me in awe. No Mob Clan out there had clothes even remotely like this, not even my own, and the Ender Clan was one of the most wealthy clans around. I then felt my own clothes, only just now realizing how itchy they felt against my skin and scratched whenever I moved.
Something wet and hot travelled down my cheeks and a sniffle escaped me, tears pouring out of my eyes as I cried without understanding why. From all the stories I'd heard from my parents and all of the other Mob Clans, no human has ever showed any kind of compassion towards the Mob Clans, and yet this one had done just that and so much more. 'Why? Why couldn't we have met him sooner?'
Wiping the tears from my eyes as best as I could, I all but tore my old clothes off in my desire to try on these new ones.
Dylan's Perspective
Several thoughts ran through my mind as I was making my way back to the makeshift workbench I'd jerry-rigged together when I was first building the cottage, 'How should I go about building the farm? It needs to be big enough to keep a steady supply of food and supplies for my new housemates but not too big or I won't be able to manage it all.'
I spent quite a while pondering this, tapping a makeshift pencil against the side of my head, but before I could think of anything concrete, my train of thought was interrupted by a certain fiery silver haired woman. "Yo! I'm back, you'd better not have done anything weird to my sister human."
My face set into a total deadpan at her implication.
"Of course not, I did meet her friend Emilia today, but other than that nothing much happened," I said with a shrug, before pausing with a thoughtful expression. "Well, that and I taught her how to shear some sheep."
"What?"
There it was again, the moment I said 'sheep' her eyes widened in shocked disbelief, and the bag she had been carrying dropped to the ground with an oddly heavy *Thump*.
Now my curiosity has really been peaked.
'Why is it that everyone is so surprised that sheep exist? It's almost just like hearing about them is akin to listening to someone tell a tale of a mythical creature.' The thought didn't sit too well with me, and some pieces were starting to click toge-
"Excuse me."
"GAAH!" I jumped in surprise as a new voice suddenly made itself known. Grasping my chest in surprise as I only just managed to catch myself on the workbench to steady myself, before looking around for the owner of said voice.
"I'm over here." The voice said from behind me, prompting me to whirl around to see a cute albeit slightly strange looking orange girl. She had an adorable smile on her face and a very friendly air around her, but something about her gaze felt a little unnerving, piercing almost.
"Uhh, hello there?" I said unsurely, not really knowing how to react to this odd girl's presence.
"Is what you said true? You truly saw live sheep?"
The bluntness of the question caught me off guard, so I simply nodded in response.
"Then what Pa said was true, the resources really are coming back." She mumbled to herself, hand on her chin, once again gaining my interest.
'Who was this 'Pa' she was talking about? Is it actually her father, or just a childish nickname for someone she was close to? And what does she mean by resources coming back?'
Before I can verbalize any of my questions though, the Slimeling spoke first. "In that case I'd like for you to accompany me back to the store Human, it's just a brief walk to get there."
My eyes narrowed slightly at that last part, she already knew I was a human before I even said my name, though I still didn't get any bad vibes from her. 'Maybe she's just observant, and guess I can go, this 'store' might have the stuff I need for the farm.'
"Alright, lead the way, uhh, miss...?"
"Sarah, of the Slime Clan," She said with a polite bow before walking towards the door, each step making an oddly cute squishing sound. "Right this way, Pa will want to see you right away."
'How did I not hear her sneak up behind me?' I asked myself while scratching the back of my head awkwardly. "Alright, let's get going then I guess."
