Just remember, its a fanfiction story. I know Sonic can't swim but I felt like making him swim, just this once in the story. And his ex-girlfriend Fiona the Fox. It's not easy to come up with a new mean ex-girlfriend because if I made up one with female names that are very common, it would feel very offensive to those that have a name like that. So I'm sticking with only Fiona the Fox. And remember, I vowed to never EVER demonize Sally Acorn ever again. She's suffered enough for years of being demonized in Sonamy fan stories.
(Sonic's POV)
The next morning was a perfect day, clear skies and the ocean is as calm without its rage of tidal waves. I wish Knuckles can see this but he retired and married Rouge the Bat, living his own life with her. I called my crew by my phone to come meet me at my ship.
While waiting I just had breakfast so that I don't get cranky and hungry on this adventure.
I picked up my compass and it just went into east south, "Hmmmm…. This adventure might be one of the coolest or maybe for nothing"
I hear someone getting on my ship and boy was I not happy to see my ex-girlfriend again, Fiona the Fox. She's not interested in love but to steal my ship and sell it to the wealthy people but I forbid her. And I had to break up with her because she cares about making money than spending time with me.
"What do you want? I thought I told you that my ship is not for sale!" I glared at her.
"Oh poor Sonic, you know the ship should be on a museum for exhibit. People would love to see it" Fiona said.
"This ship has been in my family for generations! As the captain of this ship the answer is no! And today I'm going try find Atlantis" I still refused.
"Atlantis? You listened to your grandfather?" Fiona asked.
"Yes as a bet to him. If I find it I believe him but if I don't it's still a myth" I said.
Fiona looked at me as if I'm just as crazy as my grandpa, "Is that so? Well here's my bet to you, if you can make it with evidence of Atlantis existing you can keep the ship but if you don't, I will have your ship and sell it? Deal?" Fiona held a hand out.
I slapped her hand away from me, "I don't make deals with women like you. The last time I made a bet with you, you violated the rules to cheat. Now get the hell off my ship or I summon my best dolphin to spit sea water in your face" I glared coldly at her. I was about to lose my anger by grabbing my sword out.
"As you wish captain" Fiona said before departing off my ship.
I know she won't listen to my warnings but I just hope she doesn't try anything to steal my ship. She should get a real hobby instead of trying to get rich.
I saw my crew coming on board, I bet they passed by my ex. I don't wanna talk about it but they do know she's a troublemaker.
"Morning Captain" Tails saluted to me.
"Morning Tails" I greeted him.
"Good morning Sonic" Silver said.
"Good morning Faker" Shadow greeted.
"Morning guys. And please don't ask about her. You all know what she wants" I said.
"Your ship, we won't let her get away with it" Silver said.
"As long as my sweet precious baby is safe with her captain. Blue Wind loves to be free; she's been at seas for a very long time. Anyways, last night my grandfather thinks that mermaids and the lost city of Atlantis exists. If it does, I'll believe it. But if it doesn't, I'll tell him that it's just a myth" I said and opening the sails for Blue Wind to breathe the salty wind.
"Now time for adventure, mateys!" I said to get their attention.
"Aye aye captain!" They saluted. Shadow got to the front of the ship, Silver steering the ship while Tails keeps a guard at the crow's nest.
"Set course east south!" I commanded.
"Yes Sonic" Silver rolls the wheel. Shadow then goes to check the cargo we brought onboard, if we have all equipment.
I heard a splash and I looked down to see what it was. It was very fast but from what I saw looked like a pink fish tail. I must be hallucinating or imagining things. Relax, Sonic. It's all in your head.
"Keep the course" I told my crew.
I went to my cabin in the ship and checked the map where we were going. I heard the splash again and looked at the window but nothing was there. Guess it's some fishes jumping out of the water.
Maybe some electric guitar music should help clear my head. Rock music makes me feel wild for adventures. I turned on my music list in my phone and listened to some of my favorite rock music bands.

A while later we stopped on a small tiny uninhabited island to let Blue Wind a break.
"Phew, finally some land to be on" Shadow jumped off the ship with the others and me.
"Look on the bright side, a new adventure is awaiting" I said.
"Let's say that if a mermaid exist, would you fall for her beauty?" Tails asked me.
"Uhhh...well...maybe. I don't know. I'm just not ready to have another girlfriend in my life. Sometimes I feel that I don't know what love truly is" I said.
"Someone once said it comes from the heart" Silver said.
"You really think so, bud?" I asked.
"That's just something Fiona lacked" Silver said.
My ears perked of a splash noise again, "Do you hear something?" I said.
"I heard it. It's probably dolphins or sharks" Shadow said.
"It's like it's following us. I'm gonna check it out. Guard my baby for me, guys" I gestured my ship and went back up to my ship to get my diving gear.
As soon as I got it on, I dived into the water to find out what it is. Eh, maybe a new fish I haven't seen? Fast like a barracuda? Oh, I see stingray migration down there near the coral garden. What a great shot to take a picture with my waterproof camera.
Then I saw some sharks swimming in the reef, one was a tiger shark and it simply ignored me as it was already pursuing another prey. Thank goodness.
But then, I see something shiny at the coral garden. I swam down to see what it is. As I did, I see what looks like a golden seashell...only like a locket or something? Weird. It's not rusted or old. Silver my best archaeologist should know what this is and if it has any connection to history.
I put it into my pocket and swam back to shore, "Okay be cool Sonic" I said to myself.
I got back to shore and took my scuba mask off.
"Hey guys! Look what I found" I took the locket out of my pocket. They came over and saw what I found.

Once aboard, Silver was examining the locket, "Hmmmmm….. interesting"
"Can you open it?" I asked him.
Silver carefully opens the locket and a bubble image of a city appeared in it glowing, "Is that what I think it is?"
"Atlantis?! It is real!" I took a closer look.
A melody music that's like a music box sounded beautiful.
"It's beautiful" Tails said.
"Yes, but we need to find the exact location of the city" I said.
"If I'm correct, it must be around here somewhere, away from this island" Silver said.
"What is this thing made of, Silver? You're an archeologist" I asked.
"This is pure gold, Sonic. And it's not ancient I can tell" Silver said.
"But the bubble thing that's like a gypsy crystal ball with a real scene of Atlantis and music, is it magic or something?" I asked.
"Apparently. It is a magical crystal of sorts" Silver used a magnifying glass.
"If it's a locket, do you think...?" I said with a long pause.
"A mermaid wore it and dropped it?" Shadow guessed.
"Mermaids? Could be but we need to explore these waters to find out if it's true" I said.
"You're the expert of studying fish, Sonic. You told us to guard Blue Wind at all times whenever you go exploring underwater" Tails said.
"True. Maybe we should keep this to ourselves. We cannot let anyone know. Except my grandfather" I said.
"So now what?" Silver asked.
"We should head back. The clouds are turning dark and we gotta get the hell out of here before the ocean swallows us along with my precious ship" I suggest, putting the locket around my neck for safe keeping.
"Very well, captain. Let's set course home" Silver said and heads out on deck with the others.
"Set sails!" Tails unveils the sails with Shadow and we headed back to our home. Which takes us like 30 minutes, depending on the wind.

Upon arriving I went straight home to show my family what I found while the guys headed back home.
"Sweetie, how's your adventure?" Mom asked.
"It was great. And by the way look what I found" I showed the seashell locket. Mom looked at it and picks it up and opens it. The image of Atlantis appearing again much to her surprise.
"Sonic, is this what I think it is?" She asked.
"Yeah, and music along with the vocalizing of a siren, I believe that it's real" I said.
"This...this is incredible. Your grandfather was not crazy after all" Mom said and pets me on the head.
"I guess he won the bet now" I said.
"Yes. Oh, what's that?" Grandpa came into the room and saw the locker.
"You were right, grandpa. I found this as evidence but I haven't found the sunken city or merpeople" I said and showed him the locket.
"Great job my grandson. But don't give up til you and your crew find this lost city and its people. You just found the first clue to it" Grandpa said.
"I guess. Looks like another adventure is awaiting" I said.
"Yup, tomorrow morning again. Until the storm passes by" I said.
"Young lad, if you ever see a mermaid in sight, don't let her get noticed by you. Mermaids can show a lot of beauty and an amazing singing voice. My grandpa once told me the story of how he once heard a mermaid vocalizing but he never saw one" Grandpa said.
"Okay. Aren't they dangerous?" I asked.
"Some say they can drown someone if they have the chance" He said.
"Okay. Then I'll be careful" I said.
"So you found clues huh?" Father asked, standing by the door.
"Yes father. Silver my best archeologist friend says that this thing is made of pure gold and contains a magic crystal to create a bubble projection thingy" I said, opening the locket for the music playing along with mermaid vocalizing beautifully.
"Amazing" He saw it.
"Yeah, but we should keep this to ourselves. If...my ex finds out...she'll go money crazy to find it" I said and closed the locket.
"Alright then. For ourselves" Father said.
"Father, you're a retired pirate, is there some way to keep Fiona away from Blue Wind? She's never gonna give up or move on. She has grown insane for money and power for like 3 years" I said.
"I will and trust me I can handle her" Father said.
"Good. The show's about to begin tomorrow" I said with a grin.
