Miles away from Berlin, in a jungle in the country of Peru in South America, American archaeologist and college professor, Dr. Henry Walton Jones Jr., or Indiana Jones, was on the hunt for the Golden Idol that is currently inside an ancient temple deep into the jungle. With him, were two local guides, Satipo and Barranca, who were also in search for the Golden Idol.

Just then, Satipo and Barranca come across some very skinny sticks on a tree branch. Those sticks ended up being darts from a native tribe that were tipped with deadly poison.

"The Hovitos are near," said Satipo, showing the poisoned darts stuck on the tree branch. "The poison is still fresh...It's been since three days. They're following us, I tell you!"

"If they knew we were here," said Barranca, "they would have killed us already."

"Satipo! Barranca!" shouted Indy, looking at them.

The two men went over to Indy and saw that they stumbled upon the temple that contained to Golden Idol.

"This is it," said Indy, filling a small burlap sack with sand. "This is where Forrestal cashed in. He was a competitor. He was good. He was very, very good."

"Señor Indy," said Satipo, warning him. "No one has ever come out of there alive."

"Nobody huh," said Indy, insisting. "Well today, I'll be the first person to make it out alive."

"We should go back," said Barranca. "It's too dangerous in there!"

"No!" said Indy, stopping them. "We must find the Golden Idol and bring it to America."

He looks at the temple as he says, "Indiana Jones never goes back…"

Indy walks through the entrance and goes inside the temple, with Satipo and Barranca following from behind. They then see an incoming light from a few feet away.

"Stop," Indy said to the two men. "Don't go near the light. Stay away from it."

Indy puts both his hands near the light. And the moment he did that, a bobby trap with a dead body came out. Satipo and Barranca were scared, but they knew the intelligent archaeologist was not.

"There is nothing to fear here," said Satipo.

"Let us hurry!" said Barranca.

The two guides start running, but Indy quickly stop them.

"Wait!" Indy said, facing forward.

He then said, "You stay right there. I'll handle this…"

"If you insist," said Satipo.

Indy nodded. He then walked carefully through the temple looking in every corner. Many booby traps have popped up, but the man managed to dodge all of them thanks to his knowledge on what was inside. Finally, he was right in front of the Golden Idol. But before he could grab it, he had to be very careful not to get hurt by the many booby traps hidden in the temple. So very carefully, he takes the bag of sand out of his satchel, grabbed the idol with his open hand, and placed the sand bag where the idol sat for many years. But right when that happened, parts of the temple's walls started collapsing since replacing the Golden Idol triggered another booby trap. Indy ran back to Satipo, who was holding onto Indiana's bullwhip while the archaeologist was retrieving the ancient item.

"Give me the whip!" Indy shouted to Satipo.

"Throw me the idol!" said Satipo.

They saw that the door behind Indy was quickly closing.

"There's no time to argue!" said Satipo. "Throw me the idol and I'll throw you the whip!"

Indy threw the Golden Idol to Satipo, who caught it in his hands.

"Now give me the whip!" said Indy. "Come on, give me the whip!"

Satipo smiled in a sneaky way and said to Indy, "Adiós…Indiana Jones…"

Satipo dropped the bullwhip and ran away with the Golden Idol as Barranca followed him from behind. They had betrayed Indiana Jones!

Indy jumped over the steep pit and went under the closing door just the time. The door had closed shut. Suddenly, to his surprise, Indy saw the Golden Idol on the ground. He picked it up and wonder what happened to Satipo since the man took it away from him. He then sees that Satipo had been killed by a booby trap that contained several needles that pierced through his body and bleed him out.

"Adiós…" Indy said to Satipo's now dead body, "Satipo…"

But before he could run, a rumbling noise was heard as the ground started shaking. Indy looked up and saw something come down. It was a giant boulder!

Indiana Jones ran for his life as the boulder was rolling fast towards him. He ran through the temple as he looked back each time the boulder was getting closer and closer. Luckily, he managed to escape and exit the temple as he was back on the outside in the Peruvian jungle. However, he was now in the sight of the indigenous Hovito people as the tribe surrounded him while aiming their bows at Indy getting ready to shoot poisoned darts at him.

Just then, someone fell forward and never got back up. It was Barranca, who was killed by the poisoned darts as lots of them were punctured onto the man's back.

"Dr. Jones," said a voice, who approached Indy.

It was Indiana Jones' main rival. A French archaeologist named Dr. René Emile Belloq.

"Dr. Belloq," said Indy, looking up at his rival.

"Again, we see there is nothing you can possess which I cannot take away," said Dr. Belloq. "And you thought I have given up, now have you?"

Indy takes out his gun and gives it to Dr. Belloq.

"You chose the wrong friends," said Dr. Belloq. "This time, it'll cost you."

Indy sighed.

"Too bad the Hovitos don't know you the way I do, Belloq," he said, taking the Golden Idol from his leather jacket.

"Yes, too bad," said Dr. Belloq, with his hand out.

Jones hands the Golden Idol to Dr. Belloq.

"You could warn them," said Dr. Belloq, holding the idol in his hands. "Though too bad you don't know Hovitos. You can't speak their language."

Dr. Belloq holds the Golden idol in the air as he speaks to the Hovito people in their native language. The Hovito people went after Indiana Jones as the American archaeologist tried to run from them. He then saw freelance pilot, Jock Lindsey, who was busy fishing in the river while waiting for Indy to come back from his expedition.

"Jock!" cried Indy, running over to the pilot. "Start the engines!"

Jock noticed Indy running for his life away from the Hovito tribe. He climbed into the airplane and started the engines. Indy hopped onto one of the seats of the plane as the flying machine took off into the sky away from the country.

During the ride, Indy noticed a big python on his lap, which happened to be Jock's pet snake, Reggie. Having a huge fear of snakes, Indy started to freak out in fear.

"There's a giant snake in the plane, Jock!" Indy cried.

"Oh, that's just Reggie!" said Jock, with a small chuckle. "He's my pet snake!"

"You know how much I hate snakes, Jock!" said Indy. "I hate them!"

"Show a little backbone, will ya, Jones?!" said Jock.

Indy just groans.

The two continued to be in the sky while heading back to America.

The next day, in the afternoon, back in the United States, Indy had just finished up teaching his archaeology class for the day at the Marshall College in Bedford, Connecticut, when the Dean of Students and good friend of his, Dr. Marcus Brody came into the classroom as the students left.

"Marcus…" said Indy, in a disappointed voice. "I had it…I just did…"

"Had what?" asked Brody.

"Guess," said Indy.

"Belloq?" Brody asked.

"You want to hear about it?" Indy asked.

"Not at all," said Brody. "I'm sure everything you do for the museum conforms to the International Treaty for the Protection of Antiquities."

"It's beautiful, Marcus," said Indy. "I can get it. And I will get it. I got it all figured out."

Later, Indy and Brody were having a private meeting in the school auditorium with two US Army intelligence men. The men explain that the Nazis are trying to finding the Ark of the Covenant. It is believed that the leader of the Nazi Party, Adolf Hitler, could use the Ark to make his rising army invincible.

"I'm beginning to understand Hitler's interest in this," said one of the men.

"Oh yes," said Brody. "The Bible speaks of the Ark leveling mountains, and laying waste to entire regions. An army which carries the Ark before it...is invincible…"

That night, at Indy's house, Indy was packing his suitcase while talking to Brody about his assignment to locate the lost Ark since Indy was contacted by the US government informing him about the Ark of the Covenant and how he must keep it out of Nazi hands.

"They want you to get a hold of the Ark before the Nazis do," said Brody. "And they're prepared to pay handsomely for it."

"And the museum?" said Indy. "The museum gets the Ark when we're finished?"

"Oh yes," said Brody.

"Excellent," said Indy.

After Indy was done packing his things for the expedition, he says goodbye to his good friend as he leaves the house. After viewing his passport, Indy boarded a Pan Am Clipper airplane and sat down in one of the seats. Then the plane took off as Indiana Jones was on his way to Nepal.
