Chapter 2:

Mistheart walked outside to see the taxi waiting for her.

"Do you want me to come with you?" Sorrelheart asked as she handed Mistheart her bag.

"No thanks." Mistheart said. "The ride is only for two people and I have to get Aspenfern." Sorrelheart nodded.

"Goodbye." Sorrelheart said, tears starting to form in her eyes

"Bye mom." Mistheart said and hugged Sorrelheart. She opened the cab door and slid in onto the seat.

"Where to?" The cab driver asked.

"404 Rain Drive." Misheart said and closed the door. She buckled the seat belt and slid her window down.

"Have fun, sweetie." Sorrelheart said, her arms crossed.

"I will mom. See you in November." Mistheart said and waved goodbye as the cab drove off. She closed the window. She sighed. She was going to miss her mother. But, she hoped that Aspenfern was her roommate.

The cab pulled up to a large blue house on 404 Rain Drive. Aspenfern's family had always been super wealthy, while Mistheart's family had not been. But Aspenfern's mother and Sorrelheart had been good friends since they were 4 years old. Aspenfern had always wanted to go to the college of Mistheart's choice. Aspenfern's father, Marigoldclaw, had wanted her to go to a more expensive college, but Aspenfern had refused. Mistheart had been at her house the time that Marigoldclaw and Aspenfern had had a fight about that. It had been really awkward and Mistheart had wanted to leave right away.

Aspenfern came racing out of her house in her overalls and with her gray hair in a messy bun. She was carrying a medium sized bag. Mistheart stepped out of the cab.

"Hi Mistheart!" Aspenfern said enthusiastically. Mistheart nodded and hugged her best friend.

"How are you?" Mistheart asked her.

"I'm great! How about you?"

"I'm okay." Mistheart shrugged. "Wasn't the letter weird?"

Aspenfern nodded. "I was distraught when it said I couldn't bring my phone. I don't know what it means by 'hunting supplies, but it's nothing good."

"I agree. Let's go." Mistheart said and got back into the cab next to Aspenfern.

"Where to?" The cab driver asked again.

"The train station." Aspenfern said. The cab driver nodded and took off.
