(Gaston's P.O.V.) -A week after the rescue in Germany-
I glanced lightly at Periwinkle as I passed her by, still confused by her words that day and her powerful personality as well. We are upon a flying balloon, a airship Abigail and Frollo called it by, and even after a week, it feels stifling.
It's big as a merchant ship, and the space around here has been acceptable, and I am still getting used to the group who was in the rescue plan that day... She clearly has a grudge toward me...I sighed lightly as I walked to the engine room.
I was surprised when the lords and ladies I was accompanied with, they went forward to work and help out as a crew for Frollo and Abigail. Right now, we're on the way to Periwinkle's home, Neverland, apparently after we had dropped off a few lords and ladies in safe places far away from Magnus' reach, over the past week.
I don't know why I chose to stay when I would have gone back to France or something, but I thought it had to do something with the idea of bashing a nasty guy like Magnus, and saving people, and if that means working with the others, I supposed I would be fine with it.
But with someone like Periwinkle, I was still a bit upset that she saved me instead of the other way, and she was really...not bragging, but smug about it like she succeeded something important. Admittedly, she's beautiful. A kind of exotic beautiful way about her, not the natural beautiful way like how Belle was back then, but something rather different.
That silvery white hair, the entrancing, pale blue eyes, the doll-like pale skin, the elegant stride in the way she walks or flies, the subtle yet gorgeous clothes. I knew I am not lusting after her, but rather attracted to her somehow, and I am respecting her personal space as she's ignoring me all she could.
After I learned my lesson with Belle and the Beast, I admitted that I didn't want to be a monster in attitude ever again, and I realized my style of romance was off-putting, thanks to a bit of a chat with Lefou long ago, and I figured Frollo would help with something else..
Once I entered the control room, I saw Frollo, and I called out, "Hey, Frollo! Can we talk?". Frollo looked up from checking something off the board, and he nodded with a respectful smile, "Of course, Gaston. What's going on?".
I sighed lightly as I stood next to him, glancing out of the window, "Have you ever had problems with confusing comments?". Frollo looked at me with both curiosity and confusion, "I admittedly had some problems with insults from people, but confusing comments? Could you explain, Gaston?".
I grimaced, "Well...Were you raised by your mother?". Frollo blinked in confusion, then something sparked as he seemed to realize something, "Ah, you didn't know your mother because you weren't raised by her then, and someone, perhaps a woman, said something about her?".
I sighed heavily, "It was confusing...She retorted, really...She said something about my mother supposing to teach me not to insult people, especially women who was only intending to help out...". Frollo hummed lightly, "Let me guess...Fighting is meant for men, not women.".
I grimaced with a groan at the familiar comment. "My mouth was faster than my mind that day...You make it sound stupid...". Frollo nodded lightly, "You were taught that women was supposed to be seen, not heard, correct?".
I shrugged, "More or less, yeah...". Frollo chuckled lightly, "I went through the same thing you did, Gaston, with a impressionable woman back in Paris...I gave her respect after what I've done, and she hasn't forgotten it, but she was willing to listen neither way. She was heard all over Paris, and she fought my own guards which was all men.".
I blinked in surprise, "She did?". Frollo nodded with a smile, "Yes, and she wasn't even a skilled fighter like Abigail, but she did fight no matter what. She also had fire in her eyes, passion just like your supposed woman, hmm?".
I remembered the fury, the passion in Periwinkle's eyes when she slapped me, and I think I smiled because I heard Frollo chuckle. I blinked, refocusing to look at Frollo, and he folded his hands into a fisted prayer way, looking to be in thought for a couple of moments.
"Gaston, listen to me, and listen well. This will be the most devoted advice I can give you.", Frollo looked at me with a stern expression, and I leaned closer as I breathed, "I need help, Frollo. Tell me.".
"First, if you want her to see you, you'd have to be polite and nice, and that means, 'Please', or 'Thank you'. Secondly, you cannot let yourself get angry or worse for the worst thing you'd do to her is make her cry, and you would not want that, would you?", Frollo spoke softly yet clearly, and I exhaled, processing and realizing the impression of his advice.
I slowly smiled, glad I made the decision to talk to Frollo, and I nodded, "Thanks, Frollo.". Frollo nodded with a smile, "You're welcome, Gaston. And oh, if Periwinkle gets in trouble, saving her doesn't hurt either, hmm?".
I widened my eyes, shocked as I stared at Frollo, and he chuckled softly, "You forget I have years of experience, Gaston. And it was too obvious in the war room as well.". I sheepishly ducked my head at that, feeling humbled, whispering softly, "You wouldn't tell anybody?".
Frollo hummed in thought, blinked, "Tell who?". I then realized that he wasn't planning on it, and I smiled, realizing that I have a friend in him. I nodded lightly, "Well, better get to check if lunch is ready. Sun is about close to mid-high.".
I then left, barely noting Frollo's smile, and I exhaled slowly to myself, confident that I can follow Frollo's advice, and I knew I had to put it into practice before I do it for real with her. I can't wait for the day I would see her eyes look up to me when I thank her.
