Jaykit sat staring down at her paws, Bluepelt's tongue rasped over her fur as she slightly hummed. Jaykit shifted slightly as she turned her gaze up to the Tallrock, the cats were quickly assembling under Cinderstar. Jaykit shivered and tried to push past Bluepelt back towards the nursery, but Bluepelt's paw stopped her from leaving her grasp.
Jaykit then turned her head, she hadn't heard it but it appeared that Cinderstar had called them over as Bramblekit was bounding towards the looming tree. Jaykit was nudged forward by Bluepelt to go forward, but Jaykit just tried to dive straight into Bluepelt's belly again. But before she arrived Bluepelt got to her paws.
"Come on, it's your apprentice ceremony; you wouldn't want to keep Cinderstar waiting?"
Jaykit turned her gaze back towards the dark gray she-cat; all the warriors at the pace were looking directly at her. Bramblekit was too focused on Cinderstar though, as his dark reddish brown tabby tail flicked. Jaykit reluctantly padded forward, keeping low to the ground as she avoided the other cats' gazes.
"Jaykit and Bramblekit, it has come of that time that you leave your nursery nests and train to become fine warriors; do you accept the duties and responsibilities that come with apprenticeship." Cinderstar called down at the two, her blue eyes looking at them inquisitively.
"I do!" Bramblekit answered immediately.
Jaykit shrunk in her pelt, she could feel all the eyes of the warriors around her. Her small frame shivered and quaked as she stared, frightened up at the dark gray she-cat.
"I-I do…" she quietly answered.
"Then by the light of starclan I strip you both of your kit names, and from now on; until you receive your warrior names, you will be known as Bramblepaw and Jaypaw!" Cinderstar announced, loud and clear across the clearing.
Jaypaw saw Bramblepaw seem to glower at these words, his eyes looking from side to side at the warriors around him. But Jaypaw just seemed to shrink deeper into her fur as she inhaled and exhaled the scents all around her. she tried to curl up into a tiny ball, but it wasn't working out so well for her.
"These two will need to be guided, and led down the right path to becoming great warriors. I have chosen two warriors who are ready to gain an apprentice, Bramblepaw you will be apprenticed to Lightshine."
Jaypaw watched as the beautiful golden tabby she-cat approached her brother, the dark reddish brown tabby tom seemed to grow with pride as she took seat beside him.
"Lightshine, you have the patience and strength to teach and guide this apprentice, may the light of starclan shine forever for the both of you."
The golden tabby she-cat nodded, and the two cats touched noses. Jaypaw weakily stared up at her leader, her pelt bushing as she sat in fear of what would become of her.
"Jaypaw, you will be apprentinced to Palefoot."
"Oof." Bramblepaw whispered to her as the shaking elderly pale gray tom approached.
Jaypaw didn't even look her mentor in the eye as the tom sat down beside her. "Palefoot, you have mentored many of the best cats I have had the privilege to lead, may this apprentice prove herself to be your best yet."
The pale gray tom nodded, and he quivered as he lowered his head. Jaypaw raised her muzzle to touch it with his, before looking back down at her paws.
Unlike many apprenticeships, no-one cheered and merely disbanded to their dens. Lightshine and Bramblepaw headed for the camp entrance, and Palefoot slowly made his way over as he looked over his shoulder waiting for Jaypaw to join him.
Jaypaw remained where she sat though, even when the sunlight died from the clearing and the moon started its ascent. She just sat alone as her mentor waited for her at the edge of the clearing, he sighed and approached her side. "I guess it is a little late, you go get yourself nestled in the apprentices den then. We can go see the territory tomorrow."
"Alright." Jaypaw answered, she turned and scampered towards the apprentices den while her mentor watched her leave.
A/N: so, there we go. Let me know what you think of Jaypaw already, post theories or such. Or say nothing that is a okay.
Chao.
