A/N since the first chapter turned out well (except for some spelling errors oops) here's the next chapter. Thanks for checking out my story and for encouraging me to continue as this has killed some of my boredom during the quarantine.
Chapter 2: The Doctor's Cure
Danny groaned as he started to regain consciousness. A numbing pain coursed through his body as he slowly opened his eyes, catching a bright light from above.
"Danny sweety, hey, it's okay you're safe now" a voice told Danny, in his dazed state he opened his eyes to see his mother and father standing over him.
"Mom, dad, what's going on?" Danny weakly asked, slowly pulling himself up but losing his balance. As he noticed his left arm is in a cast, slung across his left shoulder. Danny tried moving his fingers, he managed to move his index and his thumb slightly but groaned in pain.
"The Doctor says you're going to be okay sweety, a nice man named Mr. Smith and his friend Martha told us that they found you on the ground, and that you'd gotten into a fight with one of the boys from school" Maddie explained to him, as she helped her son pull himself up to sit.
"Mr. Smith? Martha? Who are they?" Danny questioned, as he glanced around the hospital room to see a strange tall man with slightly frizzy hair and a shorter girl turn to him and wave at him. Danny weakly waved back with his right hand, and watched as the strange couple ran off.
"That was them there, they found you and brought you here my sweet boy" Maddie soflty spoke to him, gently combing through Danny's hair while sitting by his side. Jazz entered the room, and joined Maddie beside Danny's bed.
"Hey, look who's back, did you have a nice nap?" Jazz joked with Danny, Danny just smirked at her.
"My boy is a fighter, not even a broken arm is gonna stop a Fenton!" Danny's father Jack said with confidence as he hugged Danny, a bit too tight for Danny's fragile body but it did make him feel a bit better on the inside.
"Okay dad, I think Danny's had enough" Jazz told Jack, as he shyly loosed his grip from Danny.
"Mom, can you get me something to eat please?" Danny asked, as he continued to groan at the sharp pain from his damaged arm making its way up to his shoulders.
"Of course my dear, come on Jack let's get something nice for my brave boy" Maddie got up from her seat and headed out the door with Jack.
"Can I get a cookie?" Jack asked, hoping she'll says yes.
"Oh alright, you can get a cookie" Maddie agreed, Danny watched as his parents left and turned to Jazz just as they were out of sight.
"So, Danny what happened to you?" Jazz pulled up a seat, Danny thought for a moment.
"I-I was in a fight with Skulker and he threw me up into the air. And there was this-this box, this blue box just sitting there and I fell right through it. Those people, I remember seeing uh Martha I think, just before I passed out." Danny explained, he pinched his temple as thinking back to then gave him a bit of a headache.
"Do you know them? Do you remember anything else" Jazz asked, Danny felt like Jazz was trying to analyze him again.
"No, I've never met them before. But there was something strange about those two. All I can think about is this, this buzzing sound.
The Doctor and Martha waited outside Danny's room, Martha became a bit anxious as she watched the doctors and nurses checking him over. Martha paced a bit, while The Doctor tinkered on something with his sonic screwdriver.
" What do we do now Doctah?" Martha asked, The Doctor turned to her and showed her a small device he'd been working on for the past ten minutes.
"It's an Electromotive force detector, or emf for short. It reads electromagnetic frequencies coming from nearby objects. This one I've hard wired to pick up on electromagnic frequencies coming from ectoplasmic uh people" The Doctor explained, as he adjusted the machine a bit more, since it started to ping rather loudly.
"But what do we do?" Martha asked him again, considering he just avoided the question.
"Hmm, oh um well once I get this working we search for the source. I've never heard of a half ghost exisiting on Earth so there has to be a reason why. Ectoplasm functions as its own energy force, but that doesn't mean it can just manifest on its own, there has to be some kind of portal or, or a hotspot where these ghosts are picking it up from" The Doctor told Martha, Martha smiled at him.
"What?" The Doctor asked, as he put away his makeshift emf detector and stood up from the bench he was sitting on.
"Nothing, it just sounds like you believe in ghosts" Martha teased,
"Well, third time's a charm" The Doctor responded, he turned to check on Danny only to hear Danny's family approaching from the hallway.
The Doctor and Martha watched as they saw them approach along with the doctor who'd been treating Danny all flood into the room, except Jazz who walked up to Martha and The Doctor.
"Hi, um Doctor Johnson told me you found my brother, its nice to meet you I'm Jazz, Danny's sister" Jazz greeted them as she shook The Doctor's hand, and then Martha's.
"I'm Martha Jones, this is John Smith. Yea, um we were just-" Martha paused trying to think of an elaborate lie to tell Jazz, thankfully The Doctor stepped in to fill in the gaps.
"Out for a late night walk along the pavement when we saw your brother caught in a fight with a group of older looking lads with school jumpers on, and well before we could break up the fight they ran off. So, Martha and I took Danny to the nearest hosiptal." The Doctor told Jazz, Jazz bought into their story as she seemed grateful to them.
"Oh well, that definitely sounds like Danny, thank you so much for helping him" Jazz told The Doctor and Martha, she smiled sincerely at them.
" You're so welcome Jazz" The Doctor told her, with a small smile on his face. Jazz left to go talk to Danny as he'd finally managed to wake up.
The Doctor and Martha talked more, this time to Danny's parents Maddie and Jack Fenton and essentially told them the same thing they told Jazz. The Doctor saw Danny, sitting upright in his bed with his sister by his side. He waved at him from where he stood, Danny waved back at him.
The Doctor turned to Martha, as the two of them headed outside of the hospital, coming up with a game plan. Just as they lef the hospital, The Doctor's small emf reader started pinging, louder than it had been before. The Doctor and Martha tracked the signal all across Amity Park, past the Nasty Burger, Casper High and City hall only to find themselves just outside of Fenton Works. The Doctor turned to Martha, Martha looked back at him as they both looked at the small emf detector that clearly pointed towards the Fenton household. The Doctor had some many questions, who knew that the Fenton's had all the answers.
