Phil Coulson

It seemed like the world got stranger every passing day. At least from Agent Phil Coulson's perspective.

Swiping through the tablet that he was currently holding, he scrolled through the numerous files on several individuals that SHIELD had recorded. Many of the people they had jotted down didn't particularly have to count as a threat, but it could be just someone that SHIELD made sure to keep an eye on.

"Here's your coffee, sir."

Phil smiled at the waitress who just handed him his coffee and went back to looking at the information that SHIELD was able to dig up on Loki. Phil had made sure to do his homework, detailing whatever he could on the Nordic god of trickery, Loki. They knew by now, that he was from Asgard and they knew he was powerful and that he also wielded a powerful weapon, a weird scepter that compromised one of their best agents.

His boss, Director Fury, was now scrambling to get the Avengers Initiative Project underway and several candidates had been looked at, but only a select few would be contacted, most of those having a link with the Tesseract being the ones chosen.

Steve Rogers, Bruce Banner and Tony Stark. What a team. Agent Phil Coulson had no idea if this would even work out. Not that he could really argue with his boss. He was very stubborn, having insisted on trying to use the Tesseract for weapons and now it has completely blown up in his face.

Oh, when would humanity learn not to mess with what they didn't know?

Being in New York, Phil randomly came to thought about SHIELD's best kept secret. Something that was off the books and only a select few knew about. He thought about a particular boy who had popped up in their radar a while back, 2006 maybe? Was that really six years ago? Wow, time passed really quickly.

Yeah, it was 2006.

The talk of that summer had been about a 12-year-old boy who had been all over the media, and not for good reasons. Jersey bus accident, St. Louis terrorist attack, Santa Monica shootout. In the end, he was cleared of any trouble as he pinned the blame on a man the FBI used all of their resources to try to locate, but ultimately came up with nothing.

Coulson knew more than what the FBI knew.

Thinking about it, wasn't he sitting in a coffee shop near the school the boy now attended? Phil quickly scrolled through his tablet, finding Percy Jackson's file that had been made long ago, but was never abandoned.

Goode High School was where he attended now at 18 years old, where he had one month left before he graduated. Quite a troublemaker, considering his academic record. Expelled from several schools before keeping his record clean at Goode. Lived in New York with his mom and stepdad, battled with ADHD and dyslexia, a terrible combination. Also, his father wasn't around.

There was more to all that, though. See, SHIELD kept a lot of secrets, even from itself and ones of those being who exactly were some of the people that SHIELD recruited. Recruits with a very good set of skills, the biggest name among them being Clint Barton himself. An absolute talent while using a bow and arrow, it's no surprise Clint had that skill, considering who his father was. That would always a remain secret though. If anybody asked, Phil simply said that he didn't know.

So first glance at Percy Jackson's file, it looks uninteresting. The eye-catching part is what's not on the file, like the fact that he's a Greek demigod. The fact that he had hydrokinetic powers. The fact that tanked a fall from the St. Louis Arch into the Mississppi River.

So yeah, Phil Coulson knew Percy Jackson was: a demigod son of Poseidon. And to add to that ... he also knew that Clint Barton was a son of Apollo. That was SHIELD's biggest and well-kept secret: they recruited demigods.

So Percy wasn't the first demigod Phil had encountered, not by a long shot. He knew that demigods went to a particular Camp Half-Blood until they grew into adulthood. Once that happened, where would they go, if they survived? Some died pretty soon after. Some would disappear. Some would settle down. But some of the stronger ones, the smarter ones put their fantastic skill set to good use and they became an agent for SHIELD.

Like Clint Barton. And maybe Percy Jackson. Wouldn't that be something? A powerful demigod like him on the team? Only in a dream.

Speaking of Percy, he was currently crossing the street as he looked up. School must have just ended because it appeared that Percy walking home, with a friend. He appeared to be looking around for someone until his eyes rested on Phil's. Phil wasn't sure what he would have done had his phone not rung at that very moment and he stood up, walked out of the shop and into an alley to answer a call from his boss.

"Yes, sir?"

"We just Steve Rogers on board. We're ready to go and I need to you to pick him up. I'll meet you at the Helicarrier."

"So it's officially underway? The Avengers Initiative?"

"Like I said, as of this moment, we are at war. And we need all hands on deck."

"On my way, sir."

Phil sighed, partly in dread of what was to happen. It was go time and they had two missions: get the Tesseract, rescue Barton and the doctor. How exactly would this pan out, Phil could only wonder. Guess he was about to see for himself.

Phil raised an eyebrow in confusion as somebody's shadow casted over him and he turned around, only to have ... actually he wasn't sure what it was that ended up sticking through him harmlessly, like a hologram. It flickered between a bat and a sword and Agent Coulson figured it was the latter. He looked up to see Percy who's surprised face turned into one of embarrassment.

Phil gave him an unimpressed look. "Really?"

Sup guys, I'm back with a new chapter. First I wanna say thanks to Nix, Asteri0519, and AB for the kind reviews. Thanks to everyone who followed and favorited this story, it makes me glad to see positive feedback. Make sure to let me know any feedback.

So, I wanted the universes to have a connection and my answer to that was having demigods be recruited into SHIELD. Honestly, I could see it happening, considering how they train. Demigods are trained to have a skill set that SHIELD would welcome in their team and of course, Clint Barton, the son of Apollo. I honestly can't wait for their interactions, they're going to have some fun banter.

Probably surprising to see Phil's POV, and it's probably going to be the only one in the story, to be honest. So with all that said, I hope you enjoyed this chapter and don't worry, this definitely won't be abandoned. I definitely plan to go all the way with this one. Let me know any thoughts in the reviews and see you all soon.
