This was my mum and sister's second favourite.

Caroline was seven months pregnant with her and Norman's second child, and her body was killing her. She was tiring easily, regularly uncomfortable, and her back often hurt. She gave the two-year-old daughter they already had, May, as much attention as she could, though she tried to stay off her feet as much as possible.

It was the evening, and Caroline was sitting in an armchair in the living room with May in her lap.

"It won't be long now," Caroline said to her daughter. "You'll be a big sister soon."

"Really, Mommy?" May asked.

"Really," Caroline replied. "Are you looking forward to it? Looking forward to having someone who looks up to you?"

"Mhm." May nodded. Then she let out a cute little yawn, which made Caroline smile. It was getting close to May's bedtime.

"Right, let's get you into bed, shall we?" Caroline asked, taking May in her arms and standing up with some difficulty. As she walked to May's bedroom, May piped up.

"Mommy, will you tell me a bedtime story?" she asked. Her cute request got another smile out of Caroline, and she happily agreed. Once they were in May's bedroom, Caroline put her in her bed, tucked her in, sat in the rocking chair, and told her a story she loved. Caroline had read her daughter this particular story so many times, she'd learned it off by heart, and May had always been fast asleep by the time she finished. This time was no different.

"Goodnight, May," Caroline said, bending down to give her daughter a kiss goodnight. "See you in the morning." As she turned to leave, she saw Norman standing in the doorway. He didn't say anything, but just smiled at the cute sight he'd just seen. Both he and Caroline knew there'd be many more to come once their new baby arrived.
