Capítulo 1

The wind blew through the leaves and branches belonging to the trees of the great forest, which spread throughout all the lands of the kingdom. The mantle of the night covered the forest, only noises and sounds of wildlife were heard. Being the only source of light, the moon and fireflies that flew low through the bushes. Even with all that serenity, a sound stood out. It was possible to hear leaves being trampled lightly, who walked with a flashlight. It being now possible to see who she was, she turned out to be a female figure wearing a long hooded coat to hide. The light reflected directly on the glasses of the girl who had a stoic feature.

-Hellen, we've been walking for hours ...

-I'm sure we're close Chad and I'm the one walking. -I know but it's still taking too long.

- Impatience is the enemy of perfection Chad.

Yes it was them, Hellen and Chad, walking through a forest in the middle of the night. But before that they had a lot of work to get there, starting right after Hellen returned from school.

Finally the bell had rang, all the students were in a hurry to enjoy the weekend. But Hellen had planned something completely different than the other students, leaving in a hurry she was walking out of the entrance when she spotted a dark blue car. She approached quickly and opened the door, sitting in the back seat. Whoever was driving now was paying attention to her.

-Good morning daughter, how was school?

- Hi dad, it was normal.

-Oh, well… I-

The moment he was about to speak the cell phone rang, he quickly answered it. Hellen muttered under his breath.

- Working too hard ... as usual.

When he hung up, he looked at Hellen, as if nothing had happened.

-Hellen dear, did you know that I'm about to win a promotion?

-What a great father.

-But it looks like I'm going to have to leave-

-Dad can we go back home? I have a lot to do.

-Look at the tone of voice, young lady, just because you have a good grade you are not the queen of-

-Dad!

- Okay, okay, I'm going.

Hellen knew that her father was just trying to make the best of him, but she had something very important to do. She promised Chad. After twenty minutes they arrived at the building, Hellen got out of the car quickly. But her father ended up staying inside and shouted at her.

-Hey Ely! I need to get back to work I will be back later!

-Yelling is not practical!

Hellen vowed to see her father laugh at her comment, returning to focus she followed into the building. But when she passed the entrance, she stopped before tripping over someone.

-Oh my dear, why are you in such a hurry?

-I'm sorry, good morning Mrs. Marie!

-Ah young people nowadays tend to run a lot, don't they, madame pearl?

-Mew!

Hellen was in front of an old lady with all white hair who was holding a white cat with blue eyes. She Wearing a piece of green clothing, a little retro in Hellen's opinion.

-I'm sorry dear but it seems that Madame Pearl tried to enter your apartment again, I just can't say why she acted that way.

-It's okay, I don't think she can do it anyway.

-Meow!

-I'm sorry to tell you that I have a lot to do and I have to go now.

-Oh, but of course! Just be careful with the steps dear.

Saying goodbye she ran to the apartment, a negative thing about old buildings, it doesn't have an elevator. Running down the stairs she finally arrived at her apartment, opening the door she took a look, everything seemed in order. Entering the apartment she placed her backpack on the table, going to the living room where she hoped to find Chad. But she didn't find him there, just the TV on with the video game paused. She walked over there, soon seeing a familiar figure on the porch.

-Chad?

-Hum?

Chad was sitting next to the bluish flower, he seemed to be thinking. Hellen knew exactly what he had in mind, and she moved closer.

-How long does she have?

-Weeks…

-Any seed?

-None.

What Hellen feared, his friend was running out of time. For the flower that he used so much the petals, was now slowly dying. Chad managed to explain to Hellen how he used the flower, making a kind of potion very similar to the way tea is made with the petals of the blue flower. Hellen felt bad about seeing her friend in this situation, she nudged his hat to get his attention.

-Hey little guy, don't worry. I will help you remember?

-I…. I believe in you.

-So let's go?

-Okay, come on!

Jumping to the floor Chad ran to the girl's room, Hellen accompanied him, opening the door to enter. Then he placed a black backpack on the bed, picking up things that would be useful. Chad carried a flashlight over his head, Hellen took it and put it in his bag.

- Was that all?

-We need to go to the house, remember Chad?

-Ah! this too.

The flower was now in a glass container, Hellen carefully placed it in the backpack. Prontos para sair, Hellen colocou a mochila nas costas. And Chad, who was on a shelf, jumped on his shoulder hiding in the hood of her jacket.

-Why didn't you want to go in the backpack?

-You're kidding! I want to see more of the city.

-Okay, just don't let anyone see you.

Leaving, she locked the door leaving the key in a place that her father could find. He checked that no one was at the reception and left the building, now she needed to arrive at the bus station to get on the bus that would take her to the city closest to the old house. Everything seemed to be calm, she asked a taxi to take her to the bus station and when she got there she started looking for the bus. This always makes someone uncomfortable, the trip to the small town would take two hours. The bus had arrived, grabbing her backpack from her side, she got up and walked to the vehicle's entrance. With everything ready for the passage, she went to the end sitting down and carefully placing the backpack in front of her. She had her cell phone and headphones on, one of them was inside the hood indicating that Chad was also listening to music.

It was a very calm trip, there weren't many people on the bus. When they finally arrived, Hellen got off the bus and walked quickly through the city, when she was coming to an end she saw a guard. She deviated from this route not wanting to be considered suspicious, after all she is going to break into a house for the fourth time. When she got out of town, she was walking along the trail, Chad was now out of the hood walking a little ahead of Hellen.

-Why don't we take the tunnel?

-Nature makes my thoughts clearer.

-If you say.

Now in front of the house Hellen expected Chad to unlock the door and with several clicks, the door opened slowly.

-Hellen, let's go to the house library.

-Lead the way Chad.

Chad ran out, but looking back a few times to see if Hellen was with him. The same old dark house that gave off a cold and mysterious air, Hellen wanted to explore the house more, but Chad said it was not a good idea. Hellen respected Chad's warning, so every time he looked everywhere instead of going out alone and going through things. They both arrived at the library, the place was large and had more than just books. She placed the backpack on a wooden table, taking out some things to start working. Taking out a notebook, she opened it and started reading, only at the same moment Chad started acting weird. He seemed to have gone pale and his eyes didn't seem to be in focus seconds later he couldn't stand standing up, falling on his back. Hellen noticed this and quickly rummaged through the backpack taking out a glass bottle with a blue substance, she gave the bottle to Chad, who had trouble consuming the contents. But he did, and now it seemed to slowly return to normal. Hellen sat down to try to calm down, because when that happened she was very nervous. In a leap Chad now appeared to be one hundred percent recovered, starting to warm up like a boxer throwing punches in the air and jumping to the sides.

-Calm champion.

-I just can't stand to live like this anymore.

-It's the only option for now Chad.

-I can't stand this thing, it tastes awful!

Hellen felt humor at that last comment, but the situation was too serious to joke about. Returning to focus, she took the notebook and read it aloud.

-Small and blue, the most powerful magical ingredient I could find. Impossible to find, only in the old forest will you have the chance to hear "Madame Leonor's words".

- Hugh! Not her…

Hellen saw Chad's face twist at the mention of the name, memories tormenting him. Hellen realized that this lady was the owner of the whole house, because she had several things with that name marked.

-Chad?

-Wha- N-don't worry, it's nothing.

Chad never wanted to talk to Hellen about it, he doesn't even speak the lady's name. What makes Hellen believe that he has some fear, curiosity never left Hellen she really wanted to find out more. Only now was not the time for that, a clock was running and all his attention was needed. Now she had gone to a bookcase where old, thick books were arranged in unusual wood. Hellen picked up an old book with a dark green cover and badly damaged due to the weather. She scanned the pages until she stopped, and concentrated on reading.

For one who wants to pass, two worlds intertwined the door must create. On the night of the full moon, magic lives strong, open the portal that will be on the North River.

If there's anything Hellen doesn't like, it's magic, she feels like she's playing with fire. But she has to put her fears aside because something much worse could happen, nothing hurts more than the loss of … The ingredients ordered were quite curious, posing questions in Hellen's mind as to how such a thing could do something. But Chad seemed to be sure of what he was doing, he seemed to have experience in dealing with it, incredibly for someone so washed out it is quite the opposite ... that's rare. All the ingredients ordered were now on the table, Chad would trust each one at least that's what it looked like or he was just making fun of the crooked reflection in the peculiar bottles. Hellen went to check what was in her backpack fixing and removing the flower, the glass that kept the flower was very resistant. The backpack had several camping equipment, rope, flashlight, solar charger, water bottle, cereal bars, lighter and the cell phone with headphones of course. Hellen took out his cell phone and looked at the gallery and stopped at a photo. She looked for a few seconds, many good memories passed in her mind. Hellen kept it, returning to reality she remembered a detail that was perhaps more relevant than it appeared. She walked over to a closet opening the wooden doors, some dust fell in the process, she rummaged through the closet. Inside were several pieces of antique clothing, she needs something very convincing. And soon she ended up finding the ideal, a long forest green coat with a big hood almost looked like a cape if it weren't for the sleeves and burnt yellow embroidery, she had also found boots that looked good for the occasion. Hellen put them on and went to the front of Chad.

-Chad what do you think?

-there is? What? Ah well maybe a brace would look better.

- boys

Rolling his eyes, Hellen went looking, but Chad seemed to be focused on reading a book. I couldn't tell if he was really reading he seemed focused on a picture in the book, it wasn't visible from that distance that Hellen was. Hellen once again searched the closet, but was not so lucky. Then she searched the drawers for a thick dark brown belt.

-I think this will do.

She put the belt over her coat, now it was more like a dress. Hellen noticed that her glasses were a little dirty, she quickly cleaned them. But when she put them back on, her eyes were focused on one thing, there on the wall above the fireplace were two fencing swords crossed in x over a blue and silver shield. Luck, it was the thing that crossed Hellen's mind for a moment, she put a chair right next to the fireplace and climbed on top. It took more effort to take it out, but she managed to get one, returning to the ground she examined the sword in both hands. The sword was old that was what the scabbard showed, taking a deep breath Hellen took the sword out like lightning. The thin silver blade shone in several reflections from the sunlight streaming through the window.

-It's a beautiful sword. Old, but very good.

Hellen turned to a wooden coat rack, entering the combat position from the front. She moved the sword quickly and nimbly, striking the tall object, then she spoke aloud.

-Defense! Defense! Attack!

After the "combat" she sheathed the sword by attaching it to her belt. When she turned around, she saw Chad standing looking with wide eyes and he opened his mouth to speak.

-Wow! You weren't kidding when you said your grandma was a good teacher.

-You know I never joke about the subject Chad ...

-Well… You look good now.

Hellen raised an eyebrow and Chad looked away, he looked at the book again. He flipped through and stopped on a page and turned to Hellen.

-Hey, Hellen, we need to go underground. There are no rivers here.

-It's okay with me, it will be more confidential.

-Come on, we need to be there before nightfall.

Hellen carried a few bottles in her arms and Chad carried a scroll. Both walking through a dark tunnel with leaks, each drop that fell made a noticeable noise. They walked for about 15 minutes, until they reached an unusual and beautiful place at the same time. A large cave, it looked like it was on the side of a mountain because there were very large gaps in the walls at the top, you could see the sky. But the most impressive thing was the large waterfall that fell quickly over the cracks in the wall at the foot of the mountain, and a large lake formed below. They quickly arranged the bottles on the floor and Hellen arranged them in order, Chad rolled his eyes walking towards a stone.

And from behind he was trying to push something, seeing that Hellen went to help him and removed a very old iron cauldron from the stones. She looked at Chad, her face clearly saying "what?"

-You know ... this has been around for a long time.

-She used?

-Yes…. She left…

The two returned to focus and started to work, the cauldron was positioned very close to the lake and Chad started to throw things into it. However dubious the methods were, they were still conventional. Meanwhile, Hellen was building a campfire that would be used to boil the components. Chad signaled Hellen to put the cauldron on the fire, she held it carefully and with an expression of disgust after all she is not a fan of magic.

Now with a few minutes gone, the water was starting to boil and Chad was monitoring it every second and adding more stuff to the cauldron substance. Hellen sat down because she knew it would be a while before it was all over, she looked at the deep lake. Now Hellen was thinking about everything, what has been agreed upon and how close it is to accomplishing an important and dangerous task. She looked him right in the eye.

-Chad?

-Hmm?

-I think this trip will last more than just two days.

-What?

-Just say, I have butterflies in my stomach.

-I…. I'm also nervous, but I'm not in the mood to think about it too much.

-...

-Hey, Hellen think it will be in a medieval or fantasy video game. It will be something totally new.

-How ... how can you say that, your life is at stake.

- I didn't say, like a video game.

Hellen opened her eyes wide, and started to laugh quietly taking off her glasses and rubbing one eye. His smile was difficult to tell if it was out of joy or nervousness.

-You are a silly Chad.

-And I know it. Come on, no frown today because we are going to travel. You are not alone.

That last comment seems to have given Hellen more confidence, she looked a lot better now. She got up and started to practice with the sword again, but Chad still takes care of the cauldron but turning his face to the gaps in the cave wall to get a sense of time.

The daylight has already passed, now dusk gives its tone of fire to the sky. Followed by the cloak of the dark night with twinkling stars flashing at us.

Chad had a serious expression on his face, the potion he stirred now bubbling boiling. He called to Hellen who had taken the flashlight from the backpack, but she held it by hugging the backpack with the sword sheathed next to it. He took a deep breath and picked up the parchment, waiting for the moment when the moon reached its whistle in the sky. It was now or never.

-Écoutez-moi la nuit! C'est une pleine lune! vivant et pur éveille la magie bleue et ouvre le portail!!

Having said the words, lights started to come out of the potion. They went out of the cave going straight to the full moon, when they hit it the white light that illuminated the cave turned blue. The entire cave was in such a color, reflecting on the lake was a beautiful sight. The fire in the campfire suddenly went out and the flashlight came on and flashed out of nowhere. The attention of Chad and Hellen took to the cascade that slowly the water took an abnormal direction, creating a whirlpool in the center. Hellen sighed a wow and Chad looked proud of himself, he climbed on Hellen's shoulder and put the scroll in his backpack. Then he got into the backpack, Hellen hugged the backpack and walked to the lake. Looking at the water, his eyes showed uncertainty, but Chad's voice entered his ears.

-You have nothing to worry about, just move on.

She held her breath and closed her eyes, then took three steps.

-1...

-2...

-3… hmm?

She opened one eye at a time, and noticed that it had not fallen, on the contrary she was standing on the water! This was unbelievable, she could see some fish swimming right under her feet.

-I told you I thought of everything. Who's silly now?

Hellen had to admit, when Chad really wants to surprise you he succeeds. She kept walking until she was facing the portal, Hellen could feel the air being pulled through the portal. She hugged the bag more, but she looked back and her eyes showed as if she felt bad. She whispered softly.

-I'm sorry Dad…

Quickly, she jumped into the portal. Everything around her spun, she closed her eyes tightly, and felt her stomach churn. Faster than a snap of a finger, she ended up impacting something with a soft but still uncomfortable surface. She tried to get up it seems that her glasses were still on her nose, until now the backpack was in her arms and

-Chad!?

-Woow, that's what I'm talking about! Much better than a roller coaster.

-Chad?

She gently put him down, he looked ... dizzy.

-Hey Hellen, who made three clones of you?

Hellen laughed at that, he shook his head it seemed to work, she took it and put it on his shoulder he was now looking in all directions and his face was not a normal expression. She soon noticed, he heard something, she took the backpack and a hand was ready to reach for the sword. Attentive to any noise Hellen could hear Chad's little heart beating very fast, it was so strange for her. Everything seemed calm even.

-Hoooooow!!

An owl over flew until it landed on a tree branch, then turned its head and looked at the two. Hellen sighed, but Chad hid in the hood. She raised her eyebrow at this, until he mumbled something.

-Predator ... It was the last thing I wanted to see today.

Hellen shook his head, taking a map and flashlight from his backpack. She turned on the flashlight and started walking through the dark night forest.

Let the journey begin.
