Disclaimer: I don't own LOTR, only my OC's and plot.

Roxana bite her bottom lip as she slowly took off her boots she was not surprised to see her feet covered with swollen angry blisters. "oh god oh god why don't these people believe in socks" she muttered under her breath when she saw a little dried blood in her boots. She quickly got rid of her shirt and pants, Gimli had told her that it'll dark in an hour and she still had to take a bath and wash her clothes against some rock, the mere thought of it made her knuckles hurt she was not used to labour. She regretted that she took everything for granted back home, she missed the delicious smell of homemade food, fast food and internet but right now she missed their cars more'for god's sake I even miss sitting in subway having to endure a stranger's morning breath or an athlete's smell of sweat' she thought miserably.

she dipped her feet in water testing the temperature it was a little cool but she was reeking and didn't have any other choices. She held her breath as she dipped rest of her body in the shallow water. She quickly washed her long brown hair and rest of her body getting dirt and twigs out of bird nest on top of her head which was once her soft silky hair.

They didn't know how to send her back home and they didn't want to keep her in Rivendell, she was not going to beg them, no it would have only wounded her pride and dignity. They simply didn't want nor need her in the city. She even once tried to escape but the guards caught her and Gandalf later informed her that Saruman's spies are looking for her everywhere because of her knowledge of what was yet to come. She had already anticipated that, Lord Elrond told her that she was brought here by power of the ring therefore by power of Sauron himself. Saruman had the palantir for some time now so he too knew of her existence. At first being caught with Saruman wasn't an exactly bad idea. She thought she could negotiate with him giving him the wheresabouts of the ring in return of a way to send her back to her world however when Aragorn informed her in details about how orcs treat their 'guests' she felt a shudder run down her spin and she didn't want that, maybe she would get to meet Saruman before Isengard's fall and manage to convince the wizard to help her. A little voice in her protested, She knew it was stupid to even care about lives of people who didn't give shit about her.

'for Fuck's sake it's not real, none of it is real, plus they would have killed you in cold blood if they hadn't need you, pretty sure they will once this journey's over,' another voice overpowered the previous one as she subconsciously rubbed now blue handprints of the Elf's hands. If she was stronger she would have pulled his heart out of his chest and crushed it with her fingers, then see if he can still call her mortal,'no you wouldn't have' the first voice countered.

"shut up" she almost shouted. "Are you alright lassie?" The hoarse voice of Gimli interrupted her trail of thoughts. "Yes... yes I'll be done in few minutes," she shouted back. They hardly ever let her out of their sights unsupervised, not that they cared about her wellbeing, She was sure they all wished she accidentally slipped on some wet rock and broke her neck.

She was glad that Gimli took it as his responsibility to stand as her watch, he was a noble man or in his case dwarf so she knew he wouldn't try to look at her naked body and his company was far more appealing than Bromir's or The Elf's. Gimli started warming up to the girl after the incident with Legolas he still despised her choice of words but she knew he wouldn't hurt her especially after she told him she knew his father's adventure in Thorin oaken shield company.

"Waging a war over some jewellery, what kind of imbecile does that?" she said, feigning disbelief Which to her credit Gimli bought, He moved his arms about causing to swing his axe in process it narrowly missed Roxana. She swallowed hard looking at his axe closely that reflected sunlight reminding her of how sharp it was, her finger throbbing from recalling the memory. "Aye lass, elves are like that,"

"especially the woodland elves, Still I didnt expect it from a king," Roxana said grimly. She whirled around when she felt eyes burning the back of her head only to find the elf, staring intensely at her with his icy blue eyes she resisted the urge to shiver under the intensity of his stare and quickly looked ahead of her making her still aching neck go rigid with pain.

'Nothing draws people together better than a shared enemy' she thought, smirking. Since her bra was still wet 'damn the sponge' she had to throw an over sized tunic on and a pair oversized pants she stole when she was still in Rivendell because the tailors only could make her skirts which she told me she would rather jump off of the highest tower in Rivendell than wear them, not that they were ugly but because she was rather clumsy and last thing she wanted was tripping over it and break her nose where she couldn't get a nose job or worse have a snake or spider crawl in it. they offered to make her pants that were too tight and it wasn't comfortable for long journey's, damn the looks, comfort was her first priority. The pants looked unused to her but they were men's so she had to cut and sew the top and around her waist (making her shriek every time she stabbed herself with needle) to be her size. The dress that they made were too long for her taste reaching her knees and completely covered her chest up to her neck " as a proper lady should dress" they replied when she complained that she couldn't breathe in them. So she stole few tunics too. It was her first bath after they left Rivendell so she could finally change into more comfortable clothes. she knew she must have looked like a baby in her father's clothes and since she didn't get a chance to try them in Rivendell they were still big to her. She huffed as she rolled up the trousers legs and sleeves.

"Are you done lassie?" Gimli said grumpily, clearly annoyed.

"Yes yes Gimli... I'm here" she said. His annoyance completely lost as he stared at her clothes, he flushed to which she chuckled "oh well.. come on follow me" he turned his back to her and stood to lead her to where fellowship were camping. "oh I was thinking if you could do something for me," she said not moving from where she previously occupied. Gimli look at her with furrowed brows "I was thinking about a change" and she gave him the puppiest eyes she could manage with a pout.

"miss Roxana, what did you do ...with that ," pippin blurted out, his eyes as big as saucers as they kept going between her bare chest and to her impossibly short hair Merry smacked pippin in back of his head to stop his cousin from gawking. "what my cousin means is that what happened to your hair?" Merry said carefully. Roxana rolled her eyes at them 'as if I showed him porn, it's just few centimetres below my neck I'm not even showing any cleavage,,,,, not that I have one anyways,' Roxana thought bitterly.

"what?" she snapped seating herself between Gimli and Frodo. Sam offered them their plates of food but couldn't cease glancing at her worriedly as if she had finally lost all her sanity. She looked around, thankfully Aragorn and Legolas were no where to be seen.

"why did you cut your hair?" Frodo murmured, frowning.

"Technically I didn't. Gimli here did it for me, why shouldn't I anyway?" Gimli choked on his food coughing as he muttered incoherently.

"Because no woman would want to have such a short hair," Bromir replied matter of factly.

She ruffled her short hair, smiling. "well I like it this way, it'll not get dirty easily plus it's safer. My trainer constantly grabbed and pulled it back in Rivendell I don't want this to happen again." Bromir merely nodded, he didn't know why but he felt he was being unjust to her. She was certainly an inconvenience and irritating but she reminded of him of a child, maybe in her world she was a child like one of a DĂșnedains; they aged differently.

Aragorn and Legolas came from their hunt. When Aragorn noticed that Legolas wasn't paying attention to what he was saying he looked up to see an unreadable expression adorning his beautiful face when Aragorn followed Legolas' line sight, his eyes fell on otherworldly girl, more specifically the bruise on her thin pale neck. She was smiling as she made short her messy even messier they couldn't help but overhear their conversation as they made their way to the camp.

"Cin gar- a far polodren gar- nin mellon" (you have a quite strong hold my friend) Aragorn said. Legolas nodded. Aragorn passed the rabbits to Sam who thanked in return.

"Oh my gosh, you're seriously not going to skin that," Roxana jumped to her feet, her brown eyes widening in her childish horror when she saw Aragorn drawing his knife and went to skin one of the poor rabbits she turned around and left. "oh it'll make me sick, goodnight everyone," she abandoned her food and went to roll out her mattress to sleep on.

she woke up abruptly from her nightmare about skinned rabbits chasing her. She rubbed her sleepy eyes with her fists and stretched out her limbs. She whined when her empty stomach growlled. She picked up her glasses and cleaned them with hem of her shirt. she put her glasses on and looked around, all her companions were asleep except for Legolas. He sitting not far away from her closely inspecting his arrows whispering an elvish song in his melodic voice. His unblemished skin faintly glowing under starlight, his long silver hair reflecting what little light it get. She couldn't help but stare at the beautiful being in her daze. Her hands went to her neck "pull your shits together," she said to herself and stood up and walked to bill barefoot to get an apple to eat. She was about to throw herself down onto the thin mattress when she collided with something more specifically someone.

She adjusted her glasses and looked up to see Legolas staring down at her. She jumped back and was about to scream at him for getting on her way and startling her that a piece of apple got caught in her throat. He offered her his canteen and said in a low gentle voice. "drink it," at first she thought against it. 'it could be poisonous' but shrugged the thought off. If he wanted to kill her he could have sewed her to her mattress with an arrow when she was sleeping. She handed it back to him and wiped her mouth with back of her sleeve. When she looked up she saw that he was looking at her intently, his head cocked to a side. She refrained herself from snapping at him just because he could have her head in a second. But it didn't stop her from showing her discomfort and clicked her tongue.

"they need to be tended to," he said looking down at her bare feet.

"oh" she frowned, dumbfounded, not knowing why he was being nice all of a sudden. "they'll be fine, I'm just not used to walking," she said not knowing why she was talking back to someone who nearly killed. She looked up to see him taking another step towards her, she matched it with one if her own backwards she was already feeling too intimidated by his intense gaze and tall stature that towered over her modest 5' 4".

Legolas tried to hide his annoyance when the little mortal backed away from him. He could see her fear and distrust swirling in her dark brown orbs.

"sit," He said and gently placed his left hand on her thin shoulder guiding her to sit on her mattress and crouched in front of her rubbing some elvish salve on her wounds. He could hear her heart beating faster as he touched her and her chest rising and falling rapidly with each shallow breaths she drew. He also noticed how she flinched and all her muscles going rigid under his touch. The mortal was afraid of him. It was not uncommon for her race to be wary of Eldars but she was reckless by nature and he couldn't think of her behaving like this in front of any other elves in Rivendell. He didn't want to look at the harsh bruise on her neck. He had regretted few thing in his long life and what he did to her was one of them. The mortal appeared to be quite young he briefly wondered if she lied about her age, He wasn't sure if she was even developed yet, she could be mistaken for a boy now with her impossibly short her.

She was quite thin and fragile. Her language and the way she behaved didn't represent one of the royalties then again her face and hands didn't showed any sign of labour. She said where she came from was more advanced than middle earth if her 'fone' and glasses were any signs of indications. She was indeed a mystery to them.

Her sight was terrible, she couldn't see even see anything clearly within her arm length in without the help of her glasses. 'maybe from crying so much' he reasoned; he had heard crying herself to sleep when she thought no one was watching. She was quite weak yet quite stubborn and always tried to appear strong. He could feel the sorrow and longing in her heart at nights when she would wake up from a nightmare crying or staring up at the stars and it made him blame himself for treating her so harshly he was driven by his anger. He was young among his kin and he still lacked patience especially when encountering mortals.

"you shouldn't have ask the dwarf to cut your hair, they have no sense of beauty,"

She shrugged and took a big bit of her apple 'she certainly is not a lady' He thought, amused. He was on his way to his seat that he heard her mutter a low thank you that if he hadn't been an elf he wouldn't have caught it. he looked back her and nodded.

Author's note:

I have three more chapters ready. I was planning to write a mini story but I don't know if anyone actually likes it or not. So if you want me to continue please leave a review. it means a lot.

Also I hope you're all doing well these days, Please stay home and take care. While I don't want to cause stress (because it only rises cortisol levels in your body thus weakening your immune system) I want you to be aware that it's highly contagious and is not only risking the lives of elders but also youngsters with background diseases.

Love you all
