Chapter 2: Training
After the atmosphere toned down, Katsuki took Izuku home to his mother, who immediately smothered him with hugs and kisses. Izuku rolled his eyes and told his mother that they needed to see the doctor about his Quirk suddenly manifesting. Inko immediately agreed and so, with Katsuki and his parents, returned to the doctor for a second opinion.
This leads us to now, where Izuku is sitting on the bed, with his friends and family standing sitting around him. The doctor finally walks in, "Ah Izuku, you've had a crazy day, haven't you?"
Katsuki rolls his eyes, "Come on doc, just tell us how Deku has a Quirk now."
He is immediately swatted in the back of his head by his mother. "Don't be rude brat."
The doctor chuckles, "It's quite alright." "As for how Izuku has a Quirk now, I have a theory." "It's rare, but not unheard of for people who are diagnosed as Quirkless to later discover that their Quirk was actually dormant inside of them."
"In Izuku's case, I believe that the trauma of losing his eyesight is ultimately was caused his dormant Quirk to manifest." "As for what it is, I have the information right here." "His Quirk is called "Gravito," and it basically allows him to control gravity."
Izuku frowns, "If I hadn't lost my eyesight, would my Quirk have ever manifested?"
The doctor shakes his head, "It's hard to say." "It may have manifested later on or it may have never manifested."
Izuku nods, "I understand."
"Now kid, I'm sorry to say this but…"
Izuku stands up and growls, "Fuck you."
This shocks everyone, whose eyes widen at Izuku swearing, something that never happens.
"You're just like everyone else." "My whole life, I've been told that can't do it, well to hell with that." "At first it was because I was Quirkless, now you're saying I can't be a hero because I'm blind." "Well I'm sick of it."
"From this moment on, I'm done listening to what others think." "I'm going to be a hero, and there is nothing you can say or do to stop me."
Katsku grins and throws his arm around Izuku's shoulder, "That's the spirit Deku, we're going straight to the top."
Izuku heads home and he Katsuki immediately get to work on their training for U.A.'s entrance exams. The first thing that Izuku works on is trying to learn how to hone his senses, in order to cope with his lack of eyesight. During this training, Izuku receives a visit from a certain hero.
Izuku turns to look over his shoulder, "I know you're there."
All-Might sighs as he walks up to Izuku, "Hello, young man."
Izuku growls, "Are you here to try and stop me from being a hero too?"
All-Might shakes his head, "No, my boy, I'm here to apologize."
All of Izuku's anger dissipates, "Apologize?"
The number one hero nods, "The truth is I was once Quirkless myself."
Izuku's eyes widen in shock, "What…do…you…?"
All-Might sits down and sighs, "I was a lot like you." "I wanted to be a hero, despite the fact that I was Quirkless." "I quickly learned that my dream was not an easy one."
"However, that all changed when I met my master, Nana Shimura." "She possessed a Quirk known as, One For All." "The Quirk is passed from successor to successor." "Essentially, the Quirk allows the wielder to stockpile their strength and greatly increase their strength and speed."
Izuku frowns, "So in other words…you're a hypocrite." "The only reason you became the number one hero is because another hero took pity on you."
All-Might frowns, "I was being hypocritical, you're right." "However, I wasn't trying to crush your dreams." "I was trying to keep you from making the same mistakes I made."
"Why are you telling me all this?"
"Because I was wrong." "I know that I can't make up for crushing your dreams, but I want to help you." "Help you become a better hero than me."
Tears start to fall from Izuku's eyes, "All I ever wanted was to be a hero like you, someone who can save people with a smile on his face." "When you said I couldn't be a hero, I felt as if the world itself was against me."
All-Might starts to tear up a little as well, "I know, and I'm so sorry, my boy."
Izuku falls to his knees, "Please All-Might, I'll do anything, sacrifice anything to be a hero."
In response, All-Might places a hand on Izuku's shoulder, "I know you will, and that is why I'll do what I can to help you."
From that day on, All-Might kept his word and began to help Izuku train for the exams and the day that he would inevitably become a great hero. He started by introducing him to Principal Nedzu, who took an interest in the young hero-in-training.
"Now then, before we start with your Quirk, we must train your senses."
Izuku nods, "I'm listening sir."
Nedzu smiles, "This room has been specially equipped to test your senses in every conceivable way."
Izuku nods with a confident look, "I won't let either of you down sir."
Nedzu smiles and nods, "I believe in you Izuku."
With help from Nedzu and All-Might, Izuku endures the grueling tests on his senses to the point that they had to stop Izuku from ripping his own ears off, multiple times. Their work pays off and Izuku's senses have been honed so that he can operate and fight without having to worry about not being able to see.
As they began the training of Izuku's Quirk, Izuku's attention was brought to All-Might's condition.
"You can't use One For All anymore?"
All-Might shakes his head, "A few years ago, I was injured in battle with a powerful villain named All For One." "This injury has caused the amount of time I can use my Quirk to continuously decrease." "As of right now, I can only maintain my strength for 3 hours a day."
"So what are you going to do?"
"Well, I originally made the decision to teach at U.A. to find a successor that I could pass One For All to."
Izuku scratches his chin, "Maybe I could help."
All-Might laughs, "Why thank you, my boy." "You know, I had actually planned to offer you my Quirk."
Izuku smiles and shakes his head, "No thanks, All-Might." "I appreciate the offer, but I think I would much rather prefer to rely on my own power."
"I had a feeling you'd say that, and that is why I like you Izuku." "You are honest and know what it is that you want to do."
They both share a laugh as they continue the discussion about the history of One For All. Later, Izuku is speaking with Nedzu about something he has been contemplating.
"A support item?"
Izuku nods, "Yes, something to help me with my Quirk, and if need be, defend myself with."
Nedzu agrees and introduces him to the pro hero, Power Loader, who is in charge of the Support Department.
"So, what is it you are looking for?"
Izuku scratches his chin in contemplation, "I was thinking of a shikomizue."
"A cane sword, huh?"
"Yes, I'd like it to be light weight, yet sturdy enough that it won't break easily."
"I think I can handle that." "Though, I've got to ask, why this particular item?"
"I recently discovered that I can channel my power through certain objects." "I still have a little trouble controlling my power effectively, so I was hoping that this item could help me channel my powers better."
Power Loader nods in understanding, "I get it, I'll started on it right away."
Izuku feels the wood of the cane in his hand, taking time to memorize every grain and the texture of the wood. He takes a deep breath and his body begins to glow purple, letting his Quirk wash through him. He concentrates on focusing his power into the sword. He fails a few times as he loses concentration, but he eventually succeeds.
His training is extremely grueling, and agonizing, reaching to the point of new death on numerous occasions, with only All-Might and Nedzu's intervention saving him. In fact, one time he actually did die as his heart stopped beating for a few seconds. Thankfully, Nedzu was able to resuscitate him.
There is only one month left for the training until the entrance exams. All-Might walks down to the beach where he last saw Izuku. When he gets there, he watches as Izuku takes a deep breath and stomps his cane into the ground. The debris around him and begins to shake, before lifting off of the ground. He continues his concentration, and neat fully piles all of the garbage into the large bins, completing his exercise and cleaning up the beach in the process.
Izuku turns to All-Might, having sensed his arrival, "Hello, All-Might."
All-Might chuckles, "You've come along way my boy."
"Thanks, it took some time to get there, but I'm starting to get by powers to feel more naturally."
The hero nods, "Impressive, have you come up with any new tricks?"
Izuku scratches his cheek, "I picked up a few things."
As he says this, Izuku thinks back to a certain incident, where he accidently discovered that he possesses the ability to summon meteors.
"Well Izuku, good luck on the rest of your training and I look forward to teaching you at "U.A."
Izuku says farewell to his teacher as he turns to the ocean, taking in the sounds of the water. He takes a deep breath, when a familiar voice calls his name.
"Yo Deku, you're gonna be late for dinner!"
Izuku smiles as he turns to walk home with his friend. The next step is going to be more difficult, but is necessary to make his dreams a reality.
