U.A's Magus-1
Once again, Shirou found himself waking up to pain, but it wasn't as intense as it had been when he had passed out. He opened his eyes to find himself looking up at the ceiling of a hospital room.
Last time he had woken up in a hospital room was after the incident ten years ago. Looking around, he saw that he was the only patient in the room, as the other three beds were empty. His bed was by the window, and he could see that the sun was starting to set.
Painfully, but slowly, he sat himself up to where he was leaning against the headboard of the bed, sighing in relief as he stopped moving, before he turned his head to the hospital room opening, and in came two women, looking like older versions of the middle schoolers he had saved earlier, both of them carrying something in their hands.
They both looked a bit surprised to see him awake, but that shock left their faces, as their expressions changed to ones of being slightly happier.
"Well good morning sleepy head." The ashen blonde woman said putting a vase of flowers on the table beside his bed, while the other woman put down a container of homemade cookies, she pulled out of a picnic basket she brought with her. "How are you feeling?"
"Like I've been hit by a battering ram in the chest." Shirou replied.
He didn't know why, but giving her that answer was something he wouldn't generally give to strangers, but he just felt like he could trust them for some reason.
"That's good to hear. My name is Inko Midoriya." The green haired woman said.
"I'm Mitsuki Bakugo." The ashen blonde woman said. "Doctor's said you'd be unconscious for a couple days, but we're glad you're up, after only a few hours. We wanted to thank you, for saving our daughter's lives during that villain attack earlier today."
"Doctors say it's because of a strain on your respiratory system." Inko said as they sat beside his bed, while she peeled an apple.
"The Doctors also said it looked like you had been in some kind of battle before the incident. Your injuries were pretty bad, they had to call in Recovery Girl." Mitsuki said.
'Must be a hero with a healing Quirk.' Shirou thought as he sighed.
"Police and some Pro Heroes, will be here to see if you're awake, and question you about the injuries later." Inko said, putting a paper plate of apple slices on top of the cookies. "Eat the slices before the cookies please. Health always comes first."
"I will." Shirou smiled softly. It felt nice having two motherly women looking out for him, even if it was just for a few minutes.
"If you don't mind me asking, where did those injuries come from?" Mitsuki asked. "From what the doctors said, they came from several different kinds of blades."
Just as Shirou was about to answer, the door slid open again, and poking her head in, was the familiar face of Deku, looking like she was nervous about something with hiding behind the door frame like that.
"Izuku. What are you doing here sweetie?" Inko asked.
"Hi mom, hi Auntie." Izuku said, stepping into the room, and closing the door behind her. "I came by because I wanted to see how he was doing, and to apologize. He's only here, because I acted stupidly, and rushed into danger, which he had to save me from."
"You're damned right it was stupid of you to do that." Mitsuki said, whacking the green haired teen upside the head, before pulling her in for a hug, after letting the sensation of the hit sink in a bit. "There's only one of you Izuku. I don't know what made you want to do that, but please, please don't scare me like that again. Don't scare your mother either."
"We'll leave you be for a minute. There's something I have to call your father about anyways. He has to know about what happened today." Inko said as Mitsuki ended the hug.
As the two adults left, Izuku sat on a stood beside Shirou's bed, looking extremely nervous once more, with her eyes gazing down at the hands on her lap. Shirou could see that there was also shame in her eyes. Taking a deep breath, he sighed before being the first out of the two to speak.
"It's fine." Shirou said.
"Huh?" Izuku asked looking up at him.
"There's nothing you need to apologize for. Not for my injuries, my hospitalization, none of it." Shirou said. "Even if you weren't the one to leap out into danger, I still would have jumped out to save your friend. Isn't that a hero's job, to risk their lives on a daily basis to protect the people?"
"Yeah but, aren't you worried about not being able to get into U.A? You used your Quirk against a villain, without even having your license. Though the police and heroes just might let you off with a warning since you didn't actually use it to attack. What was that Quirk anyway?" Izuku asked.
"My Quirk is known as Arsenal. Or that's what I call it." Shirou explained. The first thing he did, when he walked out on the streets from that alley was come up with a way to explain his power as a Quirk. "Basically, it allows me to create any sort of weapon, shield, and armor, out of nothing. I'm mostly limited to non-firearms, bows and arrows, and blades."
"So you can't create firearms?" Izuku asked.
"I can create them, it's just I need to know each and every part in order to make them. An' there are so many parts I don't think I could memorize them all." Shirou said gripping his chest, only to feel something missing. "Oh crap, where did it go?" He questioned, as be began to search frantically around the bed.
"Where'd what go?" Izuku asked.
"I was wearing a ruby pendant earlier, it's a one of a kind necklace that my friend's father made for her. It's all I have left of her. I can't lose it." Shirou said.
"You mean this?" Izuku asked, pulling the pendant out of her pocket.
"Oh thank you." Shirou said as she handed it to him.
"I found it on the ground near the incident of the villain attack. I was gonna take it to the police for lost and found, but I got sidetracked and came here instead." Izuku said as Shirou put it back on.
"Excuse us."
Izuku and Shirou looked to the door to see two Pro Heroes, and a couple police officers with them coming into the room. A doctor and a couple nurses came in as well to do a checkup on him.
"But may we have a moment with him alone please?" One of the heroes asked.
The hero who had was a tall, curvaceous woman with sky blue eyes, tilted downwards in the center, framed by a set of rather long eyelashes. Her hair was abundant and spiky dark purple, made up of layers of varying lengths, the longest ones reaching down below her waist. Her chin-length bangs split into three sections, with two swept to the sides and one over her face, going diagonally down to the left between her eyes. She also has a small mole under her left eye, as well as red painted nails.
Her costume is very similar to one of a traditional dominatrix. She wears a black leather breastless leotard over a white bodysuit, which emphasizes her breasts, body, and legs. The leotard possessing red gemstone-like accessories in a vertical pattern from the collar to the midriff. She also wears translucent black thigh-high stockings and black knee-boots.
She has a small, red mask outlining her eyes, a handcuff on each wrist, and a red utility belt decorated with gold studs around her hips, a matching pentagonal buckle in its center.
The other hero was one of the Pros Shirou had seen at the incident, wearing jeans, with a light blue jacket, and cuffs that looked like yellow and black hazard tape, with a matching headband.
"Of course Midnight." Izuku said, sounding a bit flustered. "Death Arms." She said bowing to them a bit before leaving.
Shirou thought it might have been because of Midnight's presence as she was dressed kinda scantily, but then thought that she might have been a fan of Midnight's because of her status as a hero.
"Glad to see you're awake." Midnight said. "This won't take long. We just wanted to ask you a couple questions about the injuries you sustained before the incident with the sludge villain."
"So, I'm not in trouble for using my Quirk?" Shirou asked, playing it safe.
"No, you didn't use your Quirk to attack the villain. All you did, was use it to block an attack aimed for that young girl, so you're fine, you didn't break the law. You've got some impressive strength kid." Death Arms said.
"Some of the weapons I create are kinda heavy. I have to be strong if I'm to wield them." Shirou smiled nervously.
"Alright, so we want to know about your Quirk, and where you got those injuries from." Midnight said as she used a toothpick on the paper plate to skewer an apple slice and hold it in front of him. "Be a good boy and tell us." She said in a bit of a teasing voice. "Mr.…?"
"Emiya. Shirou Emiya." He said. "Um well… promise to hear me out all the way before you come to a conclusion?" Shirou asked.
"We promise. Now why don't you spill the beans?" Midnight asked, sticking the apple slice in his mouth, causing him to blush a bit.
"Well… I was attacked earlier by a villain. I had to defend myself but I didn't attack unless I had to create an opening of escape, I mainly just blocked or diverted attacks." Shirou said. The minute Inko had said that people wanted to be questioning him about his injuries he sustained before the villain attack, he quickly started formulating a plan.
"Why would a villain want to attack a kid like you? You're a third year in middle school aren't you?" Death Arms asked, his arms crossed over his chest.
"Well, I…" Shirou paused for a second, as he registered what Death Arms had just said, before he quickly gathered his thoughts to answer that question another time, right now he had to answer the question the hero had asked him. "My dad had a lot of enemies…"
"A revenge attack most likely if his father's a hero." Midnight said, turning to look at her compatriots before looking back at Shirou. "Can you describe what the villain looked like please?"
'No harm in telling them that I suppose.' Shirou thought. "He had short blonde hair, with piercing studs in his ears, a black leather sports jacket like he was someone you'd find riding a motorcycle, he's about a foot and a half taller than me, and I can't remember what his eye color was. But he really like the sound of his own voice."
"Do you know what his Quirk was, can you recall it?" One of the officers questioned.
"Well… it was similar to mine. He called my Quirk an inferior version of his. I think he called it Gate of Babylon." Shirou said, playing the naïve little victim. "My Quirk is called Arsenal."
"Sounds like this guy has a God Complex, thinks real highly of himself. Alright we'll be in touch if we need anything else." Death Arms said.
"Do you have a parent or guardian we can contact to come and pick you up from the hospital when you're discharged?" Midnight asked. "What about your father?"
"He's…" Shirou paused. "He's no long among us. I got nobody to come and get me."
Midnight and Death Arms looked surprised at that, looking to each other, before back at Shirou, who was looking down at the blanket covering him. The pain he was trying to hide wasn't an act. It always hurt whenever he talked about his father, whether he adopted him or not the man was the only family Shirou knew, before Taiga came to watch over him after his father's passing.
"I'm sorry for bringing up such painful memories." She said. 'This certainly explains why a DNA test proved negative results in finding out who he is, or where he came from, or his Quirk registration. Usually nowadays villains will erase every ounce of their victim's existence before taking out their target. Looks like a new identity is gonna have to be made for him. Even if we catch the villain who attacked him, everything about this boy has been completely erased.'
"One more thing. Can you tell us what this villain called himself?" Death Arms asked.
"He said his name was Gilgamesh." Shirou stated. "Said that was his actual name, not a code name."
"First naming his Quirk after the ancient civilization of Babylon and the gates to heaven in said city, then naming himself after the Demigod King who ruled over Babylon before its downfall. This guy seriously does have a God Complex." Midnight sighed. "Thanks for your help. We'll be in touch about a foster home, or shelter you'll be sent to."
"Alright." Shirou sighed, leaning back into the headboard.
After the heroes left, Inko and Izuku came back in, Mitsuki was gone however, but that didn't really seem to bother him.
"So, everything sorted out?" Inko asked.
"Yeah. Though they'll be sending me to a foster home or something." Shirou sighed scratching the back of his head, looking at them.
"Why, what about your parents?" Izuku questioned, concern in her eyes.
"I don't have any." Shirou said. "I don't have a mom, dad, or even a guardian. I've been on my own for about six, seven years now. Before that it was just me and my dad."
"Izuku, please wait here with him." Inko said, before rushing out the door.
"Alright." Izuku said, before she was once again, left alone with Shirou.
"So, I gotta ask, you know what my Quirk is, but what's yours?" Shirou questioned.
"Oh, I don't have one. I'm in the minority of the population, basically I'm Quirkless." Izuku said.
"Sorry, I shouldn't have asked." Shirou stated.
"No really, that's okay. You didn't know." Izuku chuckled. "So, how was it having the R-Rated Hero at your bedside feed you apple slices?"
"You saw that?" Shirou groaned.
"No. You just told me." Izuku laughed a bit.
"You little minx, you tricked me." Shirou said, playfully throwing his pillow at her.
"Wasn't hard." She said sticking out her tongue, throwing the pillow back at him. "But seriously, do you aspire to be a hero?"
"I do. It was my dad's dream, and he passed it on to me after he left this world." Shirou said, smiling softly.
"I dream of becoming a hero to." Izuku smiled. "Even though I'm Quirkless, I haven't given up on my dream, I'm still striving to be a hero. An' today after what had happened, All Might told me I could become a hero to."
"There are stories about every great hero. Some are tragic, some are filled with joy and happiness, and some are filled with fear. But almost all of them have one thing in common that made them great…" Shirou smiled.
"Their bodies moved on their own into danger, before they had a chance to think." Izuku smiled. "All Might told me something similar before coming here."
"To be honest I got that quote from a comic book." Shirou chuckled.
"I can see that with a Quirk like yours, you'll be an exceptional hero." Izuku said.
"Hey, there's still a chance that you'll become a hero to you know." Shirou smiled. "It might be slim, but it's still there."
"Thanks." Izuku smiled.
"Izuku sweetie." Inko said coming in. "We're gonna be heading out in a bit, it's getting late. We'll see you again tomorrow Shirou, Doctor's say that with how fast you're recovering, you'll be discharged in the afternoon at the latest."
"Alright, I'll see you." Shirou said.
"Have a good night Shirou." Izuku said, before she grabbed the picnic basket Inko left at the foot of the bed, and went to follow her mother out of the hospital.
"You as well." Shirou said before the door to his room closed.
Shirou sighed as he leaned back into the bedframe again, it had been exhausting having to deal with being in a new world. An' there was something Zelretch most likely lied about. As he motioned to get up and head for the bathroom in the hospital room, Shirou found a letter sitting against the flower vase.
'That wasn't there before.' He thought as he grabbed it. When looking at who it was from, he sighed as he saw it was addressed to him from Zelretch. 'What does he want now?'
"Dear Emiya, I apologize for lying to you earlier about why your clothes were so lose and baggy. I knew that if I told you the reason was because you had gotten younger by three years, you'd have probably tried to hit me, not that it would have done you any good, would have been amusing, but also would have caused an injury of yours to worsen when I countered your attack. As to how you got younger, I can only speculate that the residual Prana on you from the Holy Grail, when you were in close proximity to it, had reacted with the Prana of Excalibur's sheath inside you, and my use of Second Magic, to rescue you, resulting in your body regressing by three years." The letter read. "I deeply apologize again for deceiving you like that. ~Zelretch."
"That explains why I'm around fourteen years old again." Shirou sighed lying back down in the bed. He felt exhausted. He could feel his Prana had returned, and even Rin's crest was still in effect, so if need be, if he ever got in a fight he couldn't handle, he could use a Reality Marble again, but he thought that should be used as his ace in the hole, given Zelretch's warning about not being able to pass off the reality marble as his Quirk.
Though thinking of Rin's crest got him thinking of back home. He was worried about what might have happened to them while he was away fighting Gilgamesh. Just thinking of the King of Heroes name, filled him with rage.
He had killed his little sister, a young girl, he never knew about until after he finally brought himself to read through his father's journal. That was something he couldn't stand by and just let slide, he used that as fuel, as his drive to push back against Gilgamesh.
"Thinking about all this won't help me any." He said as he saw the last specks of the sun, setting. "Might as well get some sleep." He sighed pulling the covers over himself.
~The next day:
"That should be it." Shirou sighed as he finished getting dressed. The hospital had been kind enough to provide him with a change of clothes. It wasn't anything fancy, just a simple T-shirt, and a pair of jeans and underwear. His shoes came from the lost and found, and with everything that was going on, he didn't really have the luxury to be picky about it.
"Mr. Emiya?" A nurse asked coming in. "Your guardian is here to pick you up."
"My guardian?" Shirou asked.
The nurse stepped out of the doorway and allowed for Inko to come in, followed by Izuku who looked more than a little worn out. If it weren't for the fact she was still standing, Shirou would have thought she needed to be here more than him at this moment.
"Hello again Shirou. You ready to go?" Inko asked.
"Wait… you're my guardian?" Shirou inquired.
"Of course, after what you did for Izuku and Katsuki yesterday, I wasn't about to let you go to a foster home or an orphanage. So I signed up to be your guardian." Inko explained. "I've already spoken with my husband about it, and he's agreed to it as well. He even went as far as to say adoption was on the table. Silly of him right, but we have been wanting a son, so it isn't completely out of the question."
"Mom please stop." Izuku sighed as she held herself up against the door frame. "You're starting to ramble about having a son again."
"Well… I appreciate it then." Shirou smiled, a bit awkwardly.
"Glad to hear it. Your room is already set up. It used to be the guest room, but now it's yours for as long as you're here." Inko smiled. "Come along now." Shirou shrugged his shoulders, and followed both Midoriya women out the door, and out the hospital. "Now, I don't want you doing anything but resting up and relaxing. Doctor says you still need to take it easy, so we're going to have lunch then going straight home." Inko explained.
"If you say so." Shirou said, accepting it. He couldn't flat out reject it, she's doing so much for him, it'd be rude to do that, and he didn't want to be rude.
After they had a quick lunch involving ramen, they boarded a train that would take them to the apartment complex that Shirou would be calling home for a while. The inside of it was clean and well organized, much like how his home was, when he took care of it. The instant they were home, Izuku flopped down on the couch, and Inko directed him to sit next to her.
"Hey, Izuku?" Shirou asked as the green haired girl turned on the television.
"What's up?" She asked.
"Why are you looking so dead tired today?"
"Well, you see I started a new workout regimen and I'm just feeling the after effects of it." Izuku said.
"You wouldn't happen to have it on paper by any chance would you?" Shirou asked.
Izuku nodded and turned to the end of the couch, where she had apparently left her backpack, and handed him a few sheets of paper.
"Hmm…" Shirou thought looking through them. "Well the meal plans and sleep schedules are good, but for this intensity of a workout, your body is gonna be left ragged and you'll barely have any recovery time. I can come up with a bit of a better plan that can leave you with better results, and gives you a bit more recovery time. It won't be much, but it'll be enough."
"Are you sure? Shouldn't you be resting?" Izuku questioned.
"I can rest, and write out a workout regimen at the same time." Shirou chuckled. "So is this training for wanting to become a hero?"
"Oh yeah it is." Izuku said. "I'm not giving up on my dream, and with what All Might told me about how I can become a hero, I'm more ready to start than anything."
"Alright then." Shirou sighed with an amused smile. "Just remember, it's still gonna be a bit of an intense workout. But you'll be able to perform better and the results from your training will be better to."
"Izuku, why don't you show Shirou to his room, while I prepare us some tea?" Inko called from the kitchen.
"Alright mom. C'mon, your room is right across from mine." Izuku said, leading Shirou to where he'd be sleeping.
The room was pretty basic, it had a bed complete with a bedframe, and even had a desk for doing school work, and speaking of school, he saw two male uniforms sitting on the desk and gym clothes beside them. They looked like the male version to Izuku's uniform.
"You'll be attending the same school as me." Izuku said simply. "I'm not sure if we'll be in the same class but I'm excited to have you join."
"I'm sure it'll be great." Shirou smiled softly, opening a drawer to a dresser finding only the simplest of clothes.
"Mom got your sizes from a nurse yesterday, and bought you a few clothes that should work until we go out to get you some actual stylish ones." Izuku explained. "She even bought you a tracksuit to train in. The U.A Entrance Exam is in ten months, so we're both gonna have to train, if we wanna get in."
"I guess so." Shirou chuckled.
"Look at the two of you getting along so well." Inko smiled coming into the room with cups of tea. "Getting accustomed so far?"
"Yeah. Thanks for everything." Shirou said.
"No problem dear." Inko said. "We'll be having Katsudon for dinner."
"I can help if you want." Shirou said.
"I appreciate it dear, but you will be taking it easy for a while. Sit back and watch a couple movies." Inko said.
"Can I at least do my training tomorrow? I usually do a morning workout, after I get up." Shirou said.
"So long as you don't strain yourself I don't see the harm in it." Inko said.
~The next morning:
Shirou sighed as he stepped out the front door, with Midoriya following right behind him, as she was on her way to her own training. She had insisted Shirou accompanied her since he was still recovering from his time in the hospital, and it would be easier for her to keep an eye on him until she didn't need to, just to make sure he didn't go overboard, per-request of Inko.
"So I know Inko gave me an explanation as to why she signed up to be my guardian in the first place, but would you mind filling me in on a few gaps? She doesn't even know me, yet she signed up to be my guardian anyways." Shirou exclaimed.
"Ah, yeah that. Mom has always had a big heart. She doesn't really trust the childcare system either, I think that has to stem from her own parents and childhood. I don't know the details, but it seems mom ran with a bit of a bad crowd after she was taken from her parents, before meeting Aunt Mitsuki of course." Izuku explained.
"Wow, I can't picture her being the rebellious type." Shirou chuckled.
"I know right? But I've seen pictures so I don't really have a reason to doubt it. Plus Aunt Mitsuki always tells me the story of how they met, and how she got mom back on the straight and narrow." Izuku giggled.
"So where are we going?" Shirou questioned.
"We're going to Dagoba Beach. My training for the next ten months, is going to include cleaning it up as a way to workout multiple muscles in my body at the same time, while also doing some legal hero work." Izuku exclaimed.
"Huh, that's actually clever." Shirou smiled.
It was about a twenty minute walk to the beach, once there, Izuku greeted an older man that Shirou recognized.
"Hey, I saw you at the slime villain incident the other day." Shirou said. "You looked like you were in a bit of pain and were leaning against the light post."
"Ah, you were the other one who went running for the villain." The man said. "Nice to meet you. Call me Toshinori Yagi."
"Shirou Emiya." He smiled shaking his hand.
"So what brings you with Young Midoriya?" Toshinori questioned.
"My mom's his guardian. Turns out he does a workout every morning, and mom wanted me to bring him with me to mine, to make sure he doesn't push himself too hard, since he's still recovering, and just got out of the hospital yesterday." Izuku explained. "I hope you don't mind."
"No, I understand perfectly. Well, if I'm gonna be training you both, I might as well have you demonstrate your Quirk to me. I saw you pulled a shield out of nowhere during the incident with the villain, but I don't quite understand how you did it." Toshinori said.
"Uh well, my Quirk is known as Arsenal, I'm able to manipulate the elemental particles in the air, to create any nonliving thing I can think of, I'm mainly good with weapons. So far I've been limited to non-firearm weapons, shields, but I my main specialty is blades." Shirou explained, creating the married blades. "I am able to create firearms, but I need to know how to make each and every individual piece of the weapon, which makes things pretty complicated. I can even make them disappear." He said, causing the twin blades to vanish.
"I see, that is quite the impressive skill to have." Toshinori smiled.
"Oh by the way. I reviewed the workout you wrote down for Midoriya, but I found it a bit… too intense for her. So I rewrote it to suit her better, give improved results, and advanced recovery time which will have more than the desired effects the workout is planned for." Shirou said handing Toshinori some folded up paper from his back pocket.
"Impressive." Toshinori said looking it over. "I never would have thought about this. Well done. Now let's get started."
Shirou nodded in confirmation and got to work on his training. He knew that Toshinori didn't want him to push himself too hard, so he had him start out on the lighter stuff, but neither he nor Midoriya were aware that Shirou was already fully recovered from his injuries.
'Well, I guess what they don't know won't hurt them. I'll just keep my accelerated healing secret to myself for a while. Besides, I have got a feeling I'm gonna be in for quite the wild ride in this world.' Shirou thought, grabbing some garbage.
"Emiya let's go, pick up the pace, you can push yourself harder than that." Toshinori called out after blowing a whistle.
'Old fart.' Shirou thought, not liking the whistle.
