A week later

13, 2:00 AM, June

"And why would you think that?!" Vergil shouted in fury. He was standing between V and the house, his shoulders squared and his stance was quite aggressive. V, on the other hand, stood in the area between the open kitchen and living room. This was not Vergil's first out burst, the cracked, glass dove with the mended wing on the counter that seperated the living room from the kitchen was a reminder of that. V gripped his cane tighter, glancing at the dove for a moment, then at Vergil, "I have seen signs in your behaviour, you are getting further and further from me. You are already barely speaking to me."

With absolutely no control of his anger, Vergil swung his arm out, "I am here, aren't I?! Here with your sorry ass and that lump in the bedroom! I'm here! What the hell are you talking about that I am going further away! You want me to show you what getting further away is?!" V opened his mouth to speak, but Vergil did not stop and took a threatening step closer, "I could be out all the time! I have enough work to keep me out all day if I wanted to!" V also took a step closer, keeping his ground and confronted his husband's tone with a low poisonous one of his own, "I did not mean physically, Vergil, you do not talk to or even look at me like you used to! You do not refer to your loved ones like you used to!" Without realizing it, V took a step closer, he gestured an open hand towards the hallway, "Think about him, Vergil." Then, V held his hand out to Vergil, as if offering him to take it, "Think about me, we can work this out. Just tell me what is wrong."

Vergil's eyes narrowed with pure anger, he defensively gestured to himself, "You think something is wrong with me? You really think I am the one with problems. Maybe you should think about how needy you have become, you cannot even walk on your own. I have to help you with so many daily tasks that you should do be able to do on your own and now you are being picky with how I talk to you?! Really?! Maybe you should be more grateful with what you have."

V did not want to continue down that path, he was not about to turn the tables toward himself. Without backing down, he his glare directed towards his husband, "No, Vergil, what you are doing is not good enough anymore! You need to step up and come home! Not physically," He tapped his finger on the side of his own head, "-but in here." Without warning, Vergil deliberately grabbed the glass dove and threw it to the floor, shattering it on the ground and took advancing steps towards his husband, "That is not true! Your attempts to manipulate me are pointless!" V took a couple steps back, becoming nervous at the motions, "Vergil, please, I just wanted to talk to you to fix problems we have!" But the angered demonic man was not having it, he grabbed V by the wrist that held his cane, yanked it up and twisted it until his grip on his cane gave, causing V to yelp in pain. Taking the cane, Vergil grabbed it by the lower half and smashed the handle into the window beside V, breaking it on the first hit before yelling in V's face, "Shut up! You only bring pain and problems for me!"

With a quick movement, V pulled away from the window, but he could not get out of Vergil's grip, though he was pulling by natural response, "Vergil, please think this over first!" But his husband did not heed his words and threw him to the ground, slamming him against the wall. Grunting from the pain of his head hitting the wall, V was panting in fear. He pressed himself against the wall, his eyes were shut and his head was turned away from his attacker. Vergil lifted the cane up, holding it for a second, "You are always in my way!" He forcefully brought it back down and striking V on the head. Taking deep breaths, he heard a cry of pain, Vergil watched the figure below cringe from the strike and V brought his arm up to shield his head. "You always want to be in my face, trying to influence my decisions! Telling me why I shouldn't work so much!" Vergil then struck him again without hesitation. V gave a louder cry of pain this time, feeling the pain from the hit on his shoulder radiate through his arm. Holding his hands out, Vergil continued to speak, "I think it is about time you backed down." With a sudden loss of control, Vergil started to continuously and forcefully hit V on the side, head, shoulder, stomach and legs, listening to every cry of pain. He stayed in the repetitive motion, striking and striking him until he threw the cane aside, panting as well from the excitement.

Vergil crouched in front of his pained husband, resting his forearms on his bent knees, watching V hesitently move his arm from his head just to see Vergil staring at him without a change in his expression. V placed a hand on his shoulder, he looked quite shaken. His hair disheveled in his face and his injured arm was trembling from his nerves firing and his head was aching along with parts of his body, "Why did you do that?" In an unchanged tone, Vergil answered unfazed, "You pissed me off."

He grabbed V by his legs and yanked him away from the wall, making him hit his head on the floor and dragged him closer, sliding him between his legs until Vergil was able to come over him on his hands and knees. Placing a hand on his head, V groaned from his now throbbing headache, "Stop, Vergil, leave me, we can talk about this later."

Cracking his eyes open, he saw Vergil's eyes meeting his own, they were stone cold, a mere shadow of who V once saw. His husband mockingly caressed V's cheek with the back of his fingers, "Oh no, you want my attention so badly, you are having it."
