It was almost noon, and Mordecai and Leanne were at the snack bar. The tables were completely empty and no customers were present. The food and drinks nside remained untouched. Both of the workers were very bored. Their hands were on their cheeks and their elbows were on the counter. Leanne stomach was also grumbled, as she never had any breakfast that day.
"Mordecai, I want food." she demanded.
"No Leanne, we would still have to pay for it." Mordecai told her, "You should've ate some cereal or something." Leanne sighed and groaned but Mordecai ignored her demands. He didn't want her body to quit on her, just like with Rigby. Eventually, he saw a brunette man in the distance. He was wearing a black suit with a red tie, black dress pants, brown shoes, and sunglasses. The man saw something that grabbed his attention: a woman with long blond hair and large white wings. He grinned and went to the counter. "Finally, our first customer." said Mordecai.
"Hello, I would like a chocolate donut and an orange soda." he ordered. Mordecai looked at Leanne for some confirmation.
"Leanne, you know what you going to do?" asked Mordecai. Leanne nodded and reached for the prepared the drink while Mordecai grabbed the donut with tongs and placed them on the place. They then put the food on the counter and expected the man to pay. However, he began staring and studying Leanne, which made her feel uncomfortable.
Mordecai grew suspicious and asked, "Sir, can you please pay?"
"One pretty birdie going to the zoo." the man remarked. He dropped a five dollar bill and ran to the farthest table with his snack. Leanne hid behind the counter while Mordecai squinted his eyes. His focus now shifted from working to finding out who is that man. The guy in the suit nibbled on his donut and took light sips of his soda.
After he ate most of his donut, "Leanne cried out, "Why are you staring at me you creep?!" The man calmly walked back to the counter.
He gave an unsettling smile and told her, "I want to take you somewhere fun." He walked away before Mordecai came up with another question to ask the shady man.
"Hey! Who the hell are you?" he yelled. The man turned his head at them. The glanced at Leanne for the second time, but she started to cry. Mordecai, however, was ready to punch him in the face. He held his first back but the man started to speak again.
"My name is Wilson. I check for humanoid monsters and bring them to zoos worldwide." the man introduced himself, "I get paid thousands of dollars for doing these missions. Well, see you later!" Wilson walked away from the snack bar with the rest if his donut in his hand. Mordecai and Leanne kept staring at him until he was nowhere at sight.
"Will he come back and slaughter me?" she asked worriedly.
"I hope that won't do something like that." promised Mordecai. More people started to come to the snack bar, causing a busier day. Meanwhile, Rigby and Reyson were raking the leaves. The had gotten most of the leaves in the left yard of the house, but they still had a long way to go. Rigby kept complaining and groaning while Reyson did his task calmly. Eventually, Rigby quickly got bored from this chore and laid down on the grass.
"Gosh I hate his job!" complained Rigby. Reyson stopped raking the leaves and walked to Rigby.
"I know that this seems like very hard work, but you got to try." he said, "Besides, you get paid to do this."
"I know, but this is the chore I hate the most. Mordecai actually got me into this crummy job."
"You better be glad that you're not slaves." warned Reyson. Rigby was still not fully motivated, so he sang a galdrar to make him more focused. It was so loud that everyone within a mile-long distance heard it. The raccoon suddenly had the courage to focus on his work. He grabbed his rake and quickly and neatly raked the leaves. Reyson began to do the same but at his own pace. Several minutes later, that same man darted near them. He noticed that Reyson had a similar (but masculine) appearance to the woman at the snack bar.
"Hey! I heard your singing. It's very magnificent." he acknowledged.
"Why thank you young beroc." spoke Reyson. His hatred toward the beroc race subsided due to Mordecai and Rigby. Instead of attacking him, he smiled at the young man.
"Why won't you sing more?" he requested, "It's for research that I'm doing." Rigby was suspicious about what the man had just said and asked Reyson for a small and quiet conversation. The man was smiling creepily as he watched.
"I don't know man, he looks kinda shady. Maybe we should avoid him." warned Rigby.
"I guess that we should leave him alone." suggested Reyson. They ignored the man's offer was he patiently waited for another song. However, it felt to him that he wasn't going to get it anytime soon. As a result, he walked away.
"'I'm going to catch these white birdies somehow." he whispered. Rigby and Reyson stared at the man in sight and continued on their chores. Three hours later, Benson came to check on the leaves. He studied the progress that they made; most of the leaves were surprisingly raked very well. He nodded and recorded it in his clipboard.
"Reyson, you better not be doing the entire job for Rigby." threatened Benson.
"No worries, I had gotten Rigby to stop being lazy. By singing a song for him." said Reyson.
"So that's that singing I've been hearing. Well, as long as you keep thisslacker working, I'm fine with that. Also, its your lunch break." spoke Benson. He bounced his shoulders and walked away. Rigby and Reyson continued their work for about twenty more minutes before heading to the house. Mordecai and Leanne were already in the kitchen eating salad.
"What's up?" Rigby greeted at the two, "So, how's your first day of work?"
"It was fine, but there were two problems." Mordecai answered, "First, Leanne kept eating all the damn food, despite my constant warnings." Leanne, who was embarrassed, looked down shyly. Moments later, she started to laugh nervously before stopping.
"I'm sorry brother." she apologized. "I got carried away."
"That's okay, this is why they are teaching us." forgave Reyson. Both of the heron laguz laughed while Rigby noticed something wrong with his friend. Disgust and seriousness were injected into Mordecai's face.
"So, what's the second problem?" asked Rigby.
"Some man in a suit was staring at Leanne." revealed Leanne, "He said that he would take her to some kind of zoo. Have you seen him?"
"Well yeah, he wanted Reyson to sing one of his songs, but we refused."
"Make sure he doesn't take them." ordered Mordecai. Reyson and Leanne had just finished their conversation in the ancient language. It turns out that they were talking about that same guy in the suit; it was evident from their concerned expressions. They became speechless for a moment before Reyson broke the silence.
"I don't know what that man exactly wants, but we got to make sure he won't cause trouble with us." All four of them nodded and spent the rest of their lunch break in the kitchen. When time was up, they continued with their chores of the day. However, Wilson was still in the park. This time, he was hiding in the trees and bushes, studying both Reyson and Leanne.
"Those birdies will be part of my company." he whispered, "They will caged and be looked at by every customer in town, but I can't think of how am I going to capture them." Wilson started to think of a plan to take them. A plan that would get him what he wanted, even at the cost of a life. At last, he came up with an idea: kidnap the heron laguz.
It was a little over midnight. Mordecai, Rigby, Reyson, and Leanne were asleep. They had already finished their chores for the day. The latter one was sleeping in the living room couch. Outside of the house was Wilson, who had evaded the police when it was closed. He glanced at the window while holding a rope to the house. Wilson saw her snoozing. He threw a rock at the window, shattering it into pieces, but she didn't wake up. He went inside the house, captured Leanne, left an envelope, and went back outside.
"Finally captured her." whispered Wilson excitingly. He jump and skipped many times before reaching his moving truck. He put Leanne inside and drove off. She woke up to the sound of engines, but she couldn't see anything. She started to panic by hitting the steel walls and screaming for help. Wilson ignored Leanne by playing some loud rock and roll music.
It was almost eight o'clock when Reyson woke up. He decided to start the day with some cereal, so he went the same path to the kitchen. When we went downstairs, he noticed that Leanne wasn't on the couch, but there was a broken window and an envelope on the floor. He opened the envelope and read its letter.
We had taken the female birdie. Why won't we negotiate about it at Fredford Zoo?
Sincerely, Mr. Wilson Smith
The letter outraged Reyson. He couldn't believe that this same man had kidnapped his sister without any warning or direct threat. He marched back upstairs to went to Mordecai's and Rigby's room. They were still asleep, so Reyson had to wake them up.
"WAKE UP! WAKE UP!" he yelled. Both of the friends' eyes slowly opened.
"Reyson, why are you waking us up? Can't you give us a few more minutes for us to sleep?" Mordecai tiredly asked.
"Yeah, we didn't sleep 'til after midnight." added Rigby. They began to doze off again but Reyson stopped them.
"Leanne had been kidnapped!" announced Reyson. The eyes in the friends' eyes widened in shock.
"What?!" they both yelled. Reyson handed them the letter and Mordecai read it; the note gave Mordecai and Rigby more shock.
"We got to get her back before Benson flips out." said Mordecai. The three began to run out of the house and to one of the golf carts. Rigby came up with an idea.
"Hey Rey, mind if we can ride on your back?" he suggested, "You're quite a big heron." Mordecai punched Rigby in the cheek, causing Reyson to step back.
"Mordecai, your buddy is correct about that. It's not a exaggeration or a joke." he confirmed. Reyson turned into a heron and Rigby hopped on his back. Mordecai decided to drive the car. They exited the park within visible distance of each other. They passed through the city and later the desert, which Reyson was not fond of. He landed at the dry rocky ground and waited for Mordecai to get off. He was exhausted from carrying a raccoon on his back.
"Don't worry Reyson, you can make it a few more miles." told Rigby. However, Reyson couldn't handle any more weight and went to the back of the cart. Mordecai was displeased by that action and made a menacing look at his friend. Rigby laughed nervously before getting the cart. He buckled up and the three drove off.
Meanwhile, Leanne was in a cage at Wilson's zoo. All of the other cages were being touched by moss. The foul smell of moldly food filled the air. Wilson creepily stared and smiled at her as she cried for help. Wilson wanted people to see this majestic heron laguz as soon as possible.
"Let me go! Let me go!" yelled Leanne. Unfortunately for her, Wilson ignored her demands.
"Birde, I'm planning to make you my animal." he said, "So why don't you sit like a dog or you can sing." Leanne sat down, thinking about what she should do in order to escape this place. Wilson, on the other hand, got bored from watching her all day. He thought that she wouldn't get out alone, so he decided to leave for a soda. Meanwhile, Mordecai, Rigby, and Reyson witnessed the current situation. The fact that Leanne was caged had greatly shocked them.
"Unbelievable! This is not how a beroc should treat a heron laguz!" criticized Reyson. "He shall pay for this!" He tried to attack Wilson but Mordecai grabbed him in the legs.
"Reyson, I have a plan. How about we attack that guy while Mordecai tries to unlock the cage." Rigby suggested. Mordecai gave Rigby a mad look, causing his friend to regret what he said. He let go on Reyson's legs, but he didn't attack him.
"How about you unlock the cage." corrected Mordecai. Rigby sighed and obeyed his command. The birds proceeded to look gor Wilson while Rigby ran to Leanne. She saw him and smiled in relief and joy.
"Don't worry Leanne, we're going to rescue you." said Rigby. He tried to open the lock with his bare hands. After many attempts, he finally unlocked the cage. Leanne flew out but Wilson noticed her. He was livid by this and looked for the perpetrator. He saw that the same raccoon he saw yesterday. He raced towards Rigby but he evaded by running.
"Get back you vermit!" yelled Wilson. He kept chasing Rigby, but suffered from increasing exhaustion. Meanwhile, Mordecai and Reyson were walking at the zoo, searching for Wilson. They were so far way from Leanne's cage that they could no longer gesr Rigby. The emptiness and darkness of the cages made the environment unsettling.
"Are you scared of the dark?" Reyson asked Mordecai. The former was flying lowly while Mordecai was walking.
"Not really, I have seen stuff more scarier than this." answered Mordecai. They walled past the mossy cages for some more.
"I have been thinking about this ever since I met you. If you are a bird, why can't you fly?"
"I just can't. I was just born that way
In fact, not all birds fly. For example, ostriches." explained Mordecai. The two stopped by the sight of Leanne. She and Reyson began to communicate in their own language.
"Where did my friend went?" Mordecai interrupted.
"Rigby is being chased by that man." answered Leanne. The three proceeded to find Rigby. They searched all over the zoo until they finally found him. He was attacking Wilson by scratching him in the face. Mordecai, Reyson, and Leanne began to cheer.
"If you ever kidnap any of my friends, then I will kill you!" threatened Rigby. Mordecai ganged up Wilson by punching him in the gut. Eventually, Wilson surrendered desperately.
"Fine! Fine! You win, I lose!" he said, "Just pleast don't beat me to death." The two stopped fighting and Wilson struggled to stand up. He wobbled and limped in circled. There were cuts and bruises all over his body. There were cracks all over his sunglasses. Reyson flew closer to the man and slapped him in the face.
"Why did you kidnap my beloved sister you beroc!" he questioned. Mordecai, Rigby, and Leanne glanced menacingly at Wilson, who was coughing.
"Look, I just wanted to make money by making exhibitions on weird animals." he yelled.
"That doesn't justify what you had done, so were calling the cops on you." said Wilson. He desperately nodded but fell to the ground. The four looked at the guy, who was now unconscious. They thought that what he got was too much. Nevertheless, they decided to leave.
"Thank you for rescuing me." remarked Leanne.
"I was worried about you. I was deeply worried about what he would've done to you." spoke Reyson.
"Don't worry, at least you're safe with us." said Mordecai. They all laughed before realizing that they still have work today.
"Do ya'll think that Benson would get mad at us?" asked Rigby as he and Mordecai got on the golf cart. The latter shrugged before started the car. The two friends left while Reyson and Leanne followed them by flying. Meanwhile, Wilson woke up with a grudge against the four.
"I'll get them someday." he mumbled.
