Interlude 2
Investigating Auror #1:
When the first robbery was reported, the auror at the scene informed us of the clean out he saw in the House Nott. All things, of value or otherwise, were taken. The portraits saw nothing, the wards have no trace of intrusion, the anti-apparition and anti portkeying wards were untouched. Then we got reports of multiple robberies, which occurred in the same manner. The only houses where there is any change in pattern or a clue are the Potter, Greengrass and Derys Houses. The only Point of Difference between these houses and the others is they have no House Elf, so they have put up anti elf wards. That is good because somehow, the robbers broke the Master-Servant bond between the Lords and the House Elves. All of them were stolen. We are looking in the underground if any of the stolen goods are pawned off, but there is no clue.
There is no record of large scale ingredients bought off from the Apothecary in the Diagon Alley, the Brixton Lane, The Belphegor Garden in Manchester or even the Knockturn Alley. The Lords do not remember the faces of the assailants or even their number, let alone the physical descriptions. Even the jewellery the Ladies were wearing was stolen, but the Vault keys to the Gringotts were left behind. Only Potter, Greengrass, and Derys houses received a house call from the Floo. But what is curious, is no one was killed, or maimed, only robbed, and no attempt was made to even make them all bankrupt. After all, all the fortune is stored in the Family Vault.
Lord Black has put out a substantial bounty on the robbers, dead or alive, and in return has asked for a certain book as proof. He has refused to cooperate with us and looks like he will take the matter in his own hand. We did all we could! I just hope, it is not another rebellion, this time from House elves, no matter how ridiculous it sounds!
I need some Firewhiskey now! Pronto!
