uSo we begin are adventure that is the Volume 2 finale within the next couple of chapters.

Last chapter you were shown who exactly Stryker is being paired with, and how he feels about a certain General.

Many may wonder why Stryker has yet to warm up to Weiss. Well that'll be explained in time, and it may make some sense to you guys. I'm not sure but hey, what can I say?

Anyway, enjoy the chapter.

Ch.17 Search and Destroy

"Professor Oobleck?" Weiss asked as her, the rest of Team RWBY, and Stryker stared at the Huntsman they were to shadow.

Stryker was never sure about this guy. He always wanted to look him over like he was some kind of art work. In some ways he was, but it was still weird for the hybrid. Being put on a pedestal like that. The man creeped him out.

Speaking of Professor Oobleck, the man began pacing in front of them while talking really fast. "Yes, I'm afraid those bags won't be necessary, girls, seeing as you've opted to shadow aHuntsmanon what is now essentially a reconnaissance mission. I can assure you, we will not be establishing a single base of operations; rather, we will be traversing several miles of hazardous wasteland and making camp in any defendable locations we may stumble upon. I packed all of our essentials myself, plotted our air course, and readied theairship. And..." he then Zooms up right to Weiss' face. "It's Doctor Oobleck. I didn't earn the PhD for fun, thank you very much!"

Stryker was just confused as the Professor or Doctor, whichever one he may be, looked to him. "And it may seem you have brought some heavy artillery."

"He isn't something I planned on leaving, Doctor," Ruby said to the Huntsman.

He seemed to accept that answer as he looked to his watch. "Come now, children; according to my schedule, we are already three minutes behind!... schedule!" He then somehow ran from where he stood to the bullhead in less than three seconds.

"Well, alright, then! Looks like we're going to save the world with Doctor Oooobleck-" Ruby started happily before becoming as depressed as the rest of her team, even the Indoraptor, "okay, yeah, when you say it out loud it sounds worse."

Minutes later, after Team RWBY said their goodbyes to Team JNPR, Sun, and Neptune, they along with Stryker loaded up and were flying over Vale. The girls spoke with the older Huntsman while Stryker simply held on for dear life, he hated the sounds of the turbines, especially when they lack windows.

Though, fortunately for him, it wasn't long before the airship arrived in over a spot of street amidst the ruined buildings and structures of the ruined area they were heading to. It hovers right above the ground as Stryker, Yang, Blake, Oobleck, Weiss, and Ruby all jump out of the craft withweapons drawn, minus the doctor who held his mug, and Stryker, who was to busy hugging the ground happily, before the ship flies away from the destruction.

"Ladies! Beast!" Oobleck said, gaining all of their attention, though Stryker did growl a bit about being called a beast. "You still may be students, but as of this moment, your first mission as Huntresses has begun! From this point forward, you need to do exactly as I say! Do you understand?" All the girls nodded, as Stryker went on high alert, trying to sense any potential enemies. Though Oobleck's outburst got his attention. "Ruby! I thought I told you to leave all of your bags back at school."

He then lost his attention as he then caught the scent of something that made him tense. He turned to get their attention only to raise an eyebrow as he saw him spin Zwei, who was hiding in the backpack on Ruby's back, but then dropped the dog. When he saw something behind the group. "Grimm. A creature of Grimm approximately one hundred yards from us at this very moment."

"What!?" Yang said as they all turned, weapons ready for the girls as Stryker was ready to pounce when they saw a single Beowolf.

They were about to pounce on the unsuspecting Grimm when Oobleck spoke again. "Stop!" he ordered.

They all turned and looked at him, the girls dropping their weapons. "Huh?" Blake asked as they all looked confused at the doctor.

"There are a number of reasons why Grimm will congregate in this particular area," Dr. Oobleck explained, "the most likely of which will be their attraction to negativity: sadness, envy, loneliness, hatred. All qualities that are likely held by our hidden group harboring ill intent."

"So... What now?" Ruby asked as Stryker began to sense more incoming, it was making him restless, he's wanting to get on with the fighting already!

Oonleck "We wait. We track. If this specimen leads us to its pack, that pack may subsequently lead us to our prey."

"How long do we wait?" Blake asked.

Oobleck had an uncertain look that Stryker couldn't help but be annoyed about. "It's uncertain. Hours, days, weeks. Why, lone Grimm have been known to stay isolated from the pack for months - and there's the whole pack."

"What?" said Weiss, confused.

The doctor then continued to state the obvious. "And now they've seen us."

"What!?" Weiss exclaimed.

"AND NOW THEY'VE SEEN US!" Oobleck shouted.

'Enough already!" Stryker said in frustration as he then charged straight at the pack of Grimm, wanting to rip them all apart.

He grabbed the first one by the head in his jaws as he then used his hands to sink his claws into the necks of two others. Those three quickly died as Stryker then proceeded to kill five more before he heard a roar and Yang was right beside him, sending a few flying. "Why don't you save some for us, Stryke," she asked teasingly.

'Would help if you weren't so slow,' he thought, but he was glad that Yang couldn't understand him. He probably wouldn't survive.

Later, after an entire day spent chasing down Grimm and mauling it senselessly, Stryker walked up to Ruby, and stopped when he saw what she was doing. She was lifting a whole turkey, to which Stryker had no idea how she obtained, on the sharp end of her gun to tease a jumping and flipping Zwei with. That is, until she spotted her teacher watching, quickly sheathing Crescent Rose.

"Sorry!" she said before getting down to business. "Uh... Are we ready to keep going?"

The doctor shook his head. "Nope! I believe that will have to do for today. It's going to be dark soon." He then threw his bag to Yang, who caught it. "You three, set up camp in that building. Oh, and please do make sure there are no more of those... creatures. Your leader and I are going to secure the perimeter. Come, Ruby."

The silver eyed girl then looked to Stryker. "Come on Stryke." He nodded happily as he followed her and the Professor. He did wonder what they were doing until they saw movement distant of the ruins. "Whaaaa... Whatis that? It looks awesome!" Ruby said as a herd of elephant-like Grimm known as Goliaths march through the trees.

"That, my dear girl, is a Grimm." answered Oobleck.

Both girl and Indoraptor staresd at the lumbering mass of monsters in amazement and awe before looking at each other and nodded. Ruby then pulled out her gun. "Let's kill it." Stryker nodded enthusiastically as he got ready to rush forward. Only to hear what Oobleck said in reply.

"I'm afraid your sniper rifle will do nothing more than agitate a Grimm of that size."

"But... What if it attacks us?" Ruby asked flabbergasted. Stryker was to curious about the question.

"Fret not, Ruby; thoseGoliathsare not concerned with us. Ruby, not every Grimm is mindless, or rather not every Grimm isstill mindless. You see, the Grimm you see before you are so powerful, so superior to the Grimm you fought, that they've undoubtedly lived hundreds of years, and in that time between killing humans and attacking our borders, they have done one important thing: They'velearned. They've learned that when they attack our borders, they're likely to die, and what we lack in strength, we make up for in will, and that killing one human will only bring more." Oobleck explained to his student, though the hybrid dinosaur also nodded.

Stryker then turned them out as he then caught wind of something. Something unfamiliar. Though it was something that made him tense up. It wasn't Grimm, it was... it was something far worse. His eyes turned to slits as he growled at the direction. He would've took off that way, but a gentle hand got his attention. "Stryker? Are you okay?"

The Indoraptor in question wasn't even sure about the question himself. Though he didn't want to worry his human friend so he nodded. Though, both Ruby, and Oobleck knew that the Indoraptor was anything but fine. Something was out here that got him to tense up like that... it had to be bad.

Later that night, Stryker layed awake. Ruby layed next to him, sleeping peacefully with Zwei cuddled up next to her. Yang, Weiss, and Blake were sleeping around the fire, and Oobleck... Stryker didn't really care for him.

The hybrid stared out into the night, the same direction to where the scent was and he then decided to test something out. He began to use his echolocation. It went through the entire city, but stopped when something big turned and looked right at the direction they all were. It seemed to give him a sadistic look and then unleashed a beastial roar.

When Stryker heard the roar in the distance, it made him tense, tense like he has never tensed before, similar to earlier. It was something big, and something very, very dangerous to his girls. He wasn't going to allow it to get anywhere near them. Not even over his dead body.

Though the calls weren't aimed towards them though. No, much to his utter surprise... they were for him.

The Indoraptor then made up his decision. He looked down to Ruby before gently nuzzling her. She remained asleep and Stryker was fortunate for that. She needed it.

He then got to his feet and stalked over to a sleeping Yang and nuzzled her aswell, and he then leaped out of the opening, landing on the mixture of grass and concrete below. Something put here was calling for him. Something he was unsure of what, but it sounded... it sounded familiar.

The only thing that he had going for him was this.

He was meeting this monster on his own terms.

So you have seen Stryker having a field day with all the Grimm that dare challenges him. You also see that he is rather impatient when it comes to Oobleck, and to be honest, the man is amusing to me.

I don't know why, but I find his character rather... intriguing.

Also, something else is out their other than Grimm. Something that has Stryker on edge, possibly even scared. That something also seemed to be very, very dangerous. What could it be? Who's side is it on? And will Stryker be able to kill it?
