XV: Orange

It was supposed to be a nice day. At least that's what she had planned for. Her actual plans for today involved shopping, tea at Cream's, then maybe bugging her favorite blue blur. That was her idea of a practically perfect day. But of course on Mobius nothing ever really goes according to plan, does it?

"Wait you want me to what?"

"Did I stutter hedgehog? You're almost as dense as your blue boyfriend, it's no wonder I can't stand the two of you and your equally idiotic friends."

Amy Rose sat in a wet cold cell aboard the Egg Fleet confused about what was going on and why she was actually here in the first place. She thought she was being used as bait for Sonic, which was the usual reason why she was taken from her home at odd hours of the day, but this was so much weirder.

"First of all, he's not my boyfriend. But if it seems like we're dating that's fine by- okay wait that's beside the point. You want me to tell you your future?!"

Dr. Eggman stood outside of her cell wearing a blank expression on his face as if she had asked why the sky was blue. The truth was, in his brain that exceeded an IQ of 300, he figured this cherry blossom colored girl could tell him the future of his Eggman Empire. He didn't know why Amy possessed this ability and quite frankly he was annoyed that it was her out of anyone else in the world. He decided to take his chances and if all else failed, he could use her to barter a trade between Sonic for the chaos emeralds. Regardless, he considered it a win-win.

"Yes, I don't remember stuttering, now come with me. We don't have much time before your band of freaks comes to retrieve you."

The gate to her cell opened and she was roughly escorted by two Egg Bots to the main conference room. They sat her at a seat opposite of the doctor and she had to hide the laugh that came out when she saw the spread of "enchanted" items that lay on the table. There was a crystal ball, a Ouija board, emeralds (regular emeralds, definitely not chaos emeralds), tarot cards, and some beads.

The girl looked up at the doctor and snorted as she crossed her arms. "You actually had to kidnap me for this? You couldn't just….uh I don't know ask me?"

"Enough nonsense, I need you to tell me the future of my Eggman Empire. I have plans that I wish to put into effect immediately, but I need to know my success rate and how I should come about it. That's where you come in, now tell me at once!"

He slammed a fist down and Amy looked at him with a deadpan expression.

"And besides…you wouldn't do it if I just asked you to anyway." He muttered quietly.

The girl shrugged her shoulders in agreement because she knew he was right and without skipping a beat, she placed her hands on the crystal ball. She closed her eyes and Eggman watched intently, almost sweating with nerves.

"I'm getting a reading. Yes…about this future you so desperately-"

"But the glass isn't lighting up or-"

"Shhh! Be quiet! The crystal ball is telling me that…" She opened her eyes and looked at the evil genius directly, meeting his eager eyes behind the circular glasses. "The crystal ball is telling me that your plan sucks and you should just give up."

Eggman let out a yell and the girl snickered.

"Oh you brat, you think this is funny don't you?! This is NOT a game, but if you want to play I can play too. Eggbots, attack mode up and ready on my command!"

Amy's laughter halted as hundreds of lasers were now pointed at her head. She realized then at that moment that she could literally be obliterated in the blink of an eye, and she swallowed the lump that had gathered in her throat. She inwardly cursed at the serious turn everything had taken because that meant he really wasn't going to let her go until she did what he wanted. So with that thought in mind, she rolled her eyes and began to shuffle the tarot cards.

"I guess I poked a nerve," she mumbled, letting out a small huff. "You can pick out three cards and I'll tell you what they mean...then can I leave?"

The doctor ignored her as he concentrated on the cards he was going to choose. She didn't know why he tried to pick them out strategically, being well versed in this sort of stuff she knew that the answers were already predetermined for you, but she let him think he could outwit the system. She smirked to herself as he laid in front of her his three choices. She shuffled the same three cards around a bit and moved them in different directions. She followed what her mind, body and spirit told her to do, then dusted her hands and leaned back in the chair.

"Ready?"

"Get on with it. The faster you finish this, the faster I can kick you off my ship."

Amy shot him a death glare and turned over the first card. Her eyes met his and she let out a breath as he watched her carefully, gripping Orbot and Cubot with anticipation.

"The Emperor-"

"What does that mean?"

The pink hedgehog closed her eyes in annoyance. "If you would let me finish then maybe I could tell you."

Eggman blew a raspberry and leaned back motioning for the girl to continue.

"Anyways, the Emperor. A card known for stability and power. Protection is involved, and sometimes it means you're a great person. Clearly this card is wrong." She let out a small cough, "Anyway, as much as I hate you, most of this is pretty accurate. I mean…besides the power and great person parts."

It was disgusting. She watched his eyes glitter like she's never seen before. She didn't know he was capable of carrying any sort of happiness in his brain, like how was this possible? She was kind of grossed out at how excited this one single card made him act when he still had two more left, and she genuinely considered running for the hills. She sucked in a breath through her teeth and decided to grin and bear it so she could actually go home.

"Please get here soon guys or else I'm gonna have to figure it out myself."

"Well? Tell me more? I'm dying to know!" He pulled in Orbot and Cubot closer, almost squeezing them in anticipation.

She had her gloved hand hover over the middle card for a minute before picking it up and read it carefully. Her eyes scanned it quickly and quietly, and just for a teeny second her face was worrisome.

She cleared her throat. "Death-"

"ARE YOU TRYING TO SCARE ME GIRL?!"

Her eyes shot him a half lidded look across the table behind the cards. "Just because the card says death doesn't mean you're gonna die. Now will you let me finish?"

The doctor nodded and sat back down. Even though he was fine, the robots were still shaking from the outburst.

"Anyway, death. Typically it defines the end of an era or a relationship. You might be getting tired of something you're interested in and it'll open a pathway to something new. Or maybe you'll just get sick and die, who knows?!"

Eggman looked at her blank faced and didn't know how to respond for a couple minutes. For once in his life he didn't know what to say. She sat and stared at him back and had to hold in a giggle.

"Oh my gosh, relax Egghead I'm just kidding about that last part. Take it easy, we have one more to go! Get it together so I can go home." Amy cracked a knuckle and reached out for the final card.

"Wait."

The girl looked up at him in confusion. She drew her hand back slowly and watched him carefully not knowing what to expect.

"I don't want to know."

Amy's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets. "You what?! Then what was the point?"

The Doctor smirked to himself and turned around while twirling his orange mustache. "Miss Rose, I don't need some fake voodoo magic to tell me how I'm gonna end up. I'm the author of my own story, I call the shots around here! Nothing or no one can tell Doctor Ivo Robotink he'll be a failure, that's impossible!"

He stood up and his cackle followed him out of the room and she was left dumbfounded by what had just happened. He left her without any chains or guards so she figured she was free to go, but something was still pressing her to find out his final card. She looked down at the table and turned over his last choice.

A reversed five of cups, which usually meant forgiveness and moving on. The pink hedgehog held it tightly and smiled to herself. Maybe he wasn't so bad after all…but he didn't need her for that, he'll figure it out eventually.

A/N: Oh my god, where do I begin? I'm sorry? I know it's been two years, that's a long time. For a while I wasn't sure if I was gonna come back to this to try and finish this, but then it came back to me and I missed it. I've missed writing so much and I've missed you so much! I'll spare the dramatics, I felt so awful about leaving this in lingo for so long I wrote two chapters and a new chapter for EW. Anyway ALSO, yes I love this piece and I love exploring these two. I needed something a little bit more on the silly side compared to the two other angst pieces I uploaded. I'll have you know I don't know a THING about tarot cards or tarot readings, but I tried my best and did some research. Thank you for your support time and time again and for believing in this little story about all my favorite colors. I'll try and finish this story with all the downtime we have, but I can't make any promises about when the next update will be (but I'm hoping it's soon). Love you guys a lot! XO
