CHAPTER 4
After the previous night, A got up and dressed, finding his clothes thrown all over his room. He made his way down to Roger's office, setting down yet another assignment into his desk. "I've completed them three days early."
Roger pushed his glasses up his bridge, adjusting them as he cleared his throat authoritatively.
"Do you really think I believe you did these? Are you taking me for an idiot Andrew?" He pointed to the first case he knew A had finished, then to the one's the boy had just placed on the desk. "The handwriting is clearly different. B did these."
"Does that matter? They're done." He bared his teeth, knowing Roger was only making an excuse for himself to touch him.
"Can you just do it and get it over with.. I hate it in here." Roger didn't intend to touch A today, but his face was full of a fury no one would have recognised.
"You think you can play me for a fool, A?! How would you feel if I got that little rat involved in our little games, hm?" Roger stood, threateningly glaring at the young man, "Let's go and ask him about it shall we?"
A slammed his hand so hard against the door he thought his bones would shatter. "You fucking touch him and I'll burn this fucking place to the ground, starting from this very room. We have an agreement and I am not letting anyone else be involved."
"Yes A, we had an agreement. And you broke that agreement by not doing your work. So." He rushed at A pinning him angrily to the wall. "You will restart these, writing up the reports yourself, AND do the pile over there, in two days! Or the deal is off."
A turned his face away, the man's breath hitting his face. "Fine." He swallowed, the loud gulp audible even to the old man. "What will you have me do ..?"
"Get out of my sight and get the fucking work done!"
Roger released A's skinny wrists, if he hadn't got bandages around them, he'd see they were bruised. "Two. Days."
A was surprised a sexual favour wasn't due, usually now washing his mouth out with soap to get rid of the taste of cum. He set his work on his desk, shoving his head in his hands. "B.. I cant let you do these for me anymore."
"What why? Why does it matter who does them?" B hadn't long woken up and was sprawled over A's bed side on, his feet up against the wall, his head practically on the floor. He flipped himself over, looking at the huge pile. "That's gonna take you weeks..It'd take ME weeks.."
"Two days and I have to do em all. He said that.. or I'm getting sent to another orphanage. I can't do that to you baby." He turned, looking sadly to him.
"That's impossible Andrew... Can I at least help you, as long as it's in your handwriting you'll be fine right?"
Like clockwork, Roger knocked at A's door, letting himself in, "Beyond? I have some work for you, come with me."
Roger had no intention of doing anything to B, other than keeping him away from A, but HE didn't know that.
A stood as soon as the old man entered, finding his body freezing though when he attempted to intersect. "No no.. you cant do this. ROGER...!"
"Now!" the old man ordered as he left the room. Beyond didn't even have a second to argue, the man's bellowing voice enough to get him to listen, not wanting to be 'hit' like A had been. Roger turned back to smirk at Andrew before locking him in his bedroom, to do nothing but work.
"You really think he can do all of that in 2 days?! If you are giving me work just let me help A!" B felt desperate to help him, not knowing why the hell this was happening.
Roger didn't say much until they got to B's room which was the opposite side of the long hallway. Upon getting there, Roger gave him a single file, "Finish this." He spoke calmly before leaving the room abruptly, locking B in his own room. He'd let the two days go by and make sure A got NO help.
A's stomach bubbled uncomfortably, his mind racing to all the different things Roger could be doing to his Beyond. Throughout the whole time he was shut in, he kicked and screamed at the door, attempting to break it.
Two days went by, B having finished the case in the first thirty minutes, having spent too much time shouting for someone to let him out.
During the time he'd been locking in his room, he'd since moved his secret stash of L ramblings to a box, hidden away until he decided what to do with them, his room surprisingly cleaner now.
None of this made any sense. He was worried about A, what if Roger moved him and he didn't get to say goodbye.. He didn't want him to leave.
"Roger! I swear to god let me OUT of here!"
A had not stopped working throughout the time. Not eating or sleeping at all. Surviving on energy drinks alone, he crunched up a can in his hand, his gaunt, pale face catching in the reflection of it. He hardly had the energy to smoke, filling in his signature on the last file before slumping back into his seat, staring ahead blankly.
Roger let the two of them sit for a while, deciding who to let out first, maybe making A panic for a bit was the right way to go, so he let Beyond out first.
"Did you get it done?" He asked, politely, as if he hadn't just locked two boys in their rooms for days.
"Ugh!" Beyond had been laying on the floor staring at the ceiling, bored out of his mind, lonely as hell.. "Yes! Of course I did now let me go and see A!"
"Very well." He threw the key to Beyond, who caught it, running straight to A's bedroom, hoping to god he hadn't cut himself again, he seemed way more concerned than he thought necessary.
Fumbling with the lock, Beyond started unlocking the door. A hadn't moved a muscle, he just sat motionless, gazing forwards at the pile of paper in front of him. The only hopeful sign of life coming from him was his thumb flicking the flint of his lighter, letting the flame die as soon as it came. Beyond came through the door, figuring A would be expecting Roger with the keys.
"Hey.. Oh. Wow you look awful.." He tried to make a joke out of it but Andrew really did look terrible. "I'm back.."
A turned, looking up to B and giving a hesitant smile, slowly standing up on his shaky legs. "Its good to finally have you back." A replied, sinking his face into Beyond's shoulder, clinging to the back of his shirt.
Beyond wrapped his arms around him, rubbing his back, he was freezing. "You.. actually got it all done?" B was surprised, but mainly worried, there's no way he'd done all of that and it not have completely fried his brain.
"Yeah.. hah.." he closed his eyes, walking B to the bed and encouraging him to get on it. Joining him, he took his head to Beyond's chest, falling asleep to the sound of his heart, it being the most reassuring thing he'd had in days. Beyond followed him to the bed, cradling him in his arms, petting his hair softly before he heard him start lightly snoring. It couldn't have been more than a minute since laying on him that he'd fallen asleep.
He didn't sleep himself.. wanting to stay awake to keep A safe, getting lost in his own thoughts to the point he zoned out for a few hours.
A woke up in the middle of the night, it had just gone 1-AM and he could hear Beyond snoring rather loudly beneath him. He pushed himself off quietly, staggering backwards as he turned to focus on the completed files.
Taking the entire lot, he made his way down to Roger's office and dumped them on his desk, relieved to think the old man would be sleeping.
"Ahem?" A familiar voice came up from behind A. Roger had stayed up a little late to finish his own filing, "So! You actually finished it." He looked over the boy's sunken in eyes, his pale gaunt expression. "Impressive."
A closed his eyes, feeling utter defeat as he heard Roger's voice. His stomach turned. "What did you do to him?" He glanced around at him, holding the desk for support.
"Hm? I don't follow." Roger's tone was more than sinister, wanting the boy to think he'd done something, only to wind him up. "Did Beyond seem out of sorts?"
A's eyes began to fill with rage, he looked to the table to find some sort of weapon, only managing to find a pen. He gripped it in the hope he could perhaps stab the bastard as he began to approach him. "Tell me you fucking didn't. Or I'll kill you I'll fucking kill you."
"You wouldn't dare." Roger remained uptight and confident, not thinking for a second A would risk injuring him. "You'll struggle to kill me with a pen, Andrew."
Poking his head around the corner of the door, Beyond had woken up and followed the sound of the commotion, also the only light being on in the entire house being Roger's office.
"A?" B's eyes widened seeing Andrew approaching the old man aggressively wielding a pen.
"I told you A!" Roger's tone suddenly changed to one of a complete victim. "It's not my fault, I would never have given you such a short time span to do all of that work! Please! Don't resort to violence with me!"
A grew ever more pissed, not wanting to involve B in this whatsoever. He gripped the pen so hard, the sound of it cracking filling the silence. "A short time span?! That was ridiculous." He seethed, unable to do a damn thing.
"It's out of my hands. I'm ever so sorry. I wouldn't do this if I didn't have to." He acknowledged Beyond, smiling sadly to him. "I didn't want to involve you either Beyond, I'm every so sorry for having to lock you in your room to let A work. L's orders."
Beyond scoffed, "I didn't die. But putting this much shit on Andrew isn't okay. Let me fucking help him." He held onto A's shoulders, trying to calm him down. "Come on, let's go... "
A didn't even want to comment, slowly walking from the room, but his last glance to Roger was that of him smiling cruelly. He felt truly sickened. He felt forced into a corner, unable to turn.
Once he was back in his room, he sat on the desk, his feet resting on the chair. "I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna burn this place to the fucking ground."
"A, that won't actually fix anything will it? Look I'll help you as much as I can, but you can't let this beat you okay?" B looked worriedly to his numbers, they'd dropped again. "I can't have you leaving me okay? Do it for me. Not Roger. Not L."
A nodded, holding his head in his hands. "Run away with me. Let's go live out the rest of our lives somewhere. I don't care where, you're my fucking home, not this bullshit." He growled, grabbing the tin of pencils, throwing it at the wall.
"A.. you know we can't leave. Where would we fucking go? We have no money, no where to stay!" He wanted nothing more than for A to be happy and for him to give him what he wanted, but the reality was that they just couldn't.
A didn't respond, only toying with the flap of one of his bandages. He got up and walked over to Beyond, taking his hands and looking down at him, their eyes connecting. Reaching up, he then took hold of B's face and sniffed into his hair, taking in his scent. "I love you."
Beyond found himself blushing again hearing those words. "I love you too Andrew.. We'll get through this. " He pressed his lips to A's forehead, having to tiptoe just a little.
A suddenly hoisted him up and took him to the desk, sitting Beyond on it. He pressed between his legs and planted a soft kiss upon his lips, his hands delicately resting on his thighs. Being picked up like that surprised him, but he didn't question it, only wanting to kiss A, not caring about anything else.
"Mn~" He let out a small noise as he kissed him passionately, softer than their usual angrier more pent up kisses. His movements matched Beyond's, his kisses slow and deep as he traced his legs up and down, droplets falling down onto them as he began to cry, their kiss becoming salty.
Tasting A's warm tears, the salt alerting him to him crying, Beyond pulled away slowly. "A.. ? What is it?" He spoke in a soft whisper, tracing circles on his shoulder blades with his fingers. Shaking his head, A tried to reconnect the kiss, managing to once or twice before giving in. "I'm just stressed baby." His voice shook as he wiped his face.
He'd never seen A cry, it being harder to see than he would have imagined.
Beyond wasn't the best with advice, so just pulled him into a tight hug, not wanting to let go. "I'm here okay."
A few days passed and A was free of work finally, he set off to go and place the set of files in Roger's office. He placed them on the desk, seemingly in a much better state of mind than before. "Done."
Roger looked up from the files to A. "Good." Giving him a grotesque look, he then eyed the new pile beside the door. "You can start those now, they've been piling up since you've been working so slow. Need to get back on schedule. But before you go~" Roger stood up, approaching him.
A sighed, then caught the predator's perverted gaze. His hand pressed back and he locked the door, resting back against it as he looked up at the man.
Roger pressed his body against A's, reaching his cold, clammy hands down the back of his jeans and boxers, grabbing his ass uncomfortably hard, pulling him closer to him. Slinking down near his ear, Roger spoke with a cruel lilt to his voice. "You ever threaten me again, I'll hurt you much more than I already do."
A stared ahead, breathing out a sigh as he reached for the man's shoulder for support. He was used to this now, almost automatically beginning to un-button his jean's and begin kissing the man's neck.
Roughly an hour passed and A once again pulled himself up from over the desk, ignoring the old man as he went to clean up. He could feel Roger's hands ghosting on him, and his ass and insides burning and wet. He could still feel his rotten tongue going down his throat and the raised hand marks on his ass.
Once more in the bathroom, he held a towel over his freshly showered self, taking some bleach from behind the toilet, taking a mouthful and holding it there until it began to froth and burn. He spat it out, choking and gasping, running his mouth under the tap.
Beyond didn't exactly follow A everywhere he went, but he liked to stay close by whenever he was out of Roger's office, keeping an eye on him. He'd been in the shower an awfully long time, so let himself into the bathroom, to find the spilt bottle of bleach and A coughing and spluttering into the sink.
"Andrew, what the fuck!?"
A turned, still practically dry heaving now. "Ugh.. fuck.. no it ain't what it fucking looks like. Some kid rammed his dirty fingers in my mouth cause we had a disagreement outside. His fingers tasted like shit so I did a little 'mouth bleaching'..." he growled, taking some more water into his mouth and swilling it out. "I'm not gonna drink fucking bleach, calm your tits B."
"I'll calm them when I don't think you're lying to me, A. You can't possibly think I'm stupid enough to believe you think 'mouth bleaching' is the right thing to do in that situation. Ever heard of mouth wash?!" He picked up the bottle, reading the back, the only real warnings were about ingestion, but that it was extremely corrosive and damaging to your mouth if drank.
"You fucking idiot."
A batted the air playfully as if it was nothing, then took his towel off, using it to wipe his mouth. A then threw it at him, trying to lighten the situation. Beyond caught the towel, still not entertained by his lover's reaction to his concern. Did his life.. really not matter to him? Was this a normal reaction?
"Don't do that again asshole, I mean it. That shit is dangerous."
"So is eating shit." He sighed, holding his hips, fully exposed to Beyond. "I won't though, not again. I couldn't leave you ever baby."
"Promise me?" Beyond looked at him, his eyes wide, still a little worried.
He didn't know if he was torturing himself, his numbers were still low and nothing he said changed that. Were they changeable? He wasn't ill, and he was trying his best to stop him doing self-dangerous things.. would he really die that soon?
A approached him as he remained dazed in thought, taking his hands and bringing them to his exposed chest.
"Don't worry Beyond Baby, I have a plan and it's gonna make things a lot better around here. Then you and I will get our future together." He smirked at him, his warm hand embracing B's cheek.
"Yeah..Okay." Beyond lay his hand over A's on his cheek, turning to kiss his palm. "What's your plan? Can I help?" He looked up at him, a determined look in his eyes.
"Get me a voice recorder or something.. it'll help me out. Well catch the system out. Kay?" He pushed his lips to his ear, humming into it. "We'll have soooooo much fun together once it's done. You can fuck my slutty ass wherever you like."
"I'll see what I can do." Beyond's breath shook a little as he shivered with A's breath in his ear. "Oh?~"
"Kiss me.." A begged, desperate for his lover to hold him more tenderly than he'd been treated by Roger.
The boy's moans filled the room, the two spending a few hours together. As he came for the third time, A clawed into the wall, chipping a the old plaster.
Returning this time to B's room, A crawled onto his bed, sprawling out naked. "You're an animal."
"Can't help myself around you~" He growled, chomping his teeth at him, closing his door behind the two of them. "If you weren't so damn sexy I wouldn't have this problem."
He pushed his ass up, looking over his shoulder at him, blowing a kiss. "Says you, look at ya!" Andrew purred, looking his lover up and down. "Think you can get me that recorder though?"
"I'll definitely try, getting things in here under Roger's nose is like sneaking weapons into prison. "He sat down in his desk chair, smirking. "Difficult, but not impossible if done properly. What are you hoping to record?"
"A conversation of such. I'm gonna plant it in the office. It's gotta work." He bit his lip, sitting up to look over to Beyond. "I reckon we should visit America after this is all over. They do, massive burgers, waffles and pancakes and anything you can think of."
"America huh? Sounds awesome!" Having worked on a few of L's cases, B had been seeing the geography of cases that he was working on, England, France, the US, Canada, Italy, Germany.. the guy was only a year or so older than he was and so well travelled. He felt pig sick jealous.
"We should go to loads of countries, reek havoc!"
"Start with LA and keep going from there Beyond Baby, you and me against the fuckin' world." A grinned, pulling on some pants and hopping into them comically.
Beyond stood and threw his shirt off, throwing it into a basket in the corner of the room, piled high with nothing but black shirts and underwear.
He fell back onto the bed, staring at the ceiling, imagining what that'd be like, both of them travelling together, they were smart enough to sort themselves out.
A was right. Fuck L. Fuck this place and fuck the system.
"LA. Sounds perfect~"
A crawled between his legs, kissing the sensitive skin over his stomach. "You're fuckin perfect, loser." He cooed, then traced his letter upon him. "I should mark you one day, like a tattoo maybe. Or a scar.. "
B smiled to the sweet words, his finger tickling him, though the subject getting a little darker. A tattoo made sense, but the way A's voice trailed off in his last words made him need to question it. "A.. scar?"
He moved up beside him. "My letter carved on your butt would be so fuckin hot." A chuckled, slinking his arms around B. "Or I'd happily pierce your ear, just need a thumb tac."
"On my butt? I don't know about that." B laughed it off, leaning into him. "Fuck it.. you wanna mark me, do it. Not that I'd need to remember you, you aint getting rid of me, and you're not going anywhere so?"
A got up, going into his bedroom, coming back with a pocket knife, he sat on the bed and flipped B so he was on his front. "You sure about this?"
"Maybe not my butt, literally.. anywhere else." B acted in confidence, but he felt it was very much for show, he didn't want A to think he was a pussy, he trusted him. It was fine..
A laughed, then pushed him back to face him. He leant down and kissed his hip, stretching the pale skin with his fingers. "You need a pillow to bite or do you wanna moan for me?"
"I can take take it. I'm not some wimp!" He was trying to psych himself up, he didn't think for a second he'd be moaning about this, he wasn't as much into pain as A was. Even so he let A do it, his teeth clenching and his fists gripping the sheets beneath him as he felt the blade slice his skin.
A sunk it in, being very quick about it. "One done baby... two.." he brought up the blade again to show. Then with one last final slice, Andrew had marked him with his initial. He took a tissue, pressing it to the fresh wound. "Not so bad was it?" He purred, then wiping the blade clean.
"Yep.. not bad.." B forced, his voice straining, his eyes watering as he felt it sting. "Mnh.."
Beyond was more than relieved for it to have been over, not understanding for a second why anyone would do this to themselves..
A took his hand, kissing his fingers. "Considering I hated you, we sure have come far." He chuckled, then looked up to the window, looking solemn for a moment, knowing he still had to deal with Roger.
"We have. Hey? What made you change your mind? Was it my dashing good looks, my smile? My ass? It was my ass wasn't it? I bet it was my ass." He joked, seeing A's expression change, wanting to lighten the mood.
His attention snapped back to him, his smile spreading. "Your ass is cute but your eyes fucking snagged me baby." He winked, blowing another kiss.
"Yeah well, I'm glad YOU like em." He sighed, somewhat happy mixed with sad.
A wrapped his fingers around the others, entwining them, looking to him with a soft expression, his eyes warm. "You don't? I'd kill for those." He laughed. Pulling him close to stare romantically into them. "Like cherries~" he joked, then biting his nose.
"The colour is pretty cool I guess, despite the unwanted attention they get. But.." He looked back into A's green eyes, sighing knowing he had to lie again. "It's a shitty birth defect, I actually have terrible vision and get horrible migraines. My relationship with my eye colour is, how should I say.. conflicted."
"Defect huh. Well it makes you different and I fuckin' love it." He spoke low and lovingly, clearly adoring him. "Green does go with red after all~"
"They do, perfect complimentary colours~" He spoke back in a similar tone, having completely fallen for him, hard.
"Thanks for not thinking I'm a freak."
"You are a freak and I wouldn't love you any other way." A kissed him, humming as he began to patter his jaw affectionately with little bites and nips.
Beyond closed his eyes, tilting his head back as A treated his jaw and neck, smiling as he felt the love in every kiss. settled into bed, pulling his lover into a close embrace. "We should get to sleep and put our plan into action tomorrow. Find me that recording device and I will do the rest~" he purred grinning widely as B settled beside him. "Mmmph. You're warm."
"I think I know what to do, I'll figure it out~" He cozied up to A, sharing his warmth, the other being much colder than he was. "Tomorrow.. is gonna be the start of out lives okay?"
"Fuck yeah." He took B's hand, entwining their fingers. "Love you Beyond baby." He purred, closing his eyes and nestling his head into the man's shoulder.
"Love you too.." Opening his eyes back up he looked over Andrews head, he had less than two days. He felt his heart pang in his chest, "Andrew? You.. aren't going to kill yourself are you? You don't have plans to do that right?"
He opened his eyes back up, stunned by the question. "Woah. Babe. Where did that come from?" A sat up, looking down to him. "Of course I'm not. We have a future ahead. Remember?"
"Yeah, I know.. I remember. I just.." He found himself shaking, not wanting to seem weak in front of A. "I guess after the bleach and your habits, I'm scared." He looked down, not wanting to look at him, his numbers burning in his mind.
"Baby, I promise that wasn't me trying to do anything." He grazed his thumb over Bs face softly. "I don't want to leave you. "
Beyond nestled his face into his hand, still not totally convinced. "I believe you.. let's get some sleep."
Once Andrew had gone to sleep, deep enough that he could unwrap himself out of his arms without waking him, Beyond ventured downstairs, knocking on the door of the kid who's head they'd flushed.
"You have a phone don't you."
"W-wait, what no I don-"
"You DO! And you're gonna give it to me, or otherwise you're fucking dead. Understand?" Beyond glared at him, his eyes seemingly glowing menacingly in the low light.
It didn't take much more threatening, but Beyond eventually got the phone. None of them were allowed cells, so this was a big deal. Content with the fact that it could record sound and video, he pocketed it, returning to A, cuddling back up next to him.
The movement made A stir his eyes flickering as he took B back into his arms, coming to slightly. "Mph.. " he sighed, pecking his shoulder sleepily.
"I got it." He whispered, knowing he wasn't quite fully conscious. Beyond smiled, kissing his forehead, stroking over his scarred arm with his thumb then lay his head on his chest just listening to his heart beating. He turned towards him, taking his earlobe between his lips and sucking it.
"Good." He murmured, releasing it as he dozed, giving a soft kiss to his shoulder. Beyond let A doze back off, though he tried to stay awake, he found himself too sleepy to stay awake for too long.
