Midoriya

We had gotten through our first trip looking for Massiah without anyone asking any questions. I wasn't a fan of Bakugo's methods and intimidation, but they had gotten us hopefully closer to finding her. It was Sunday, another chance to go looking.
Bakugo had texted me the previous night telling me we would chase up his lead today. I wondered what his motivation was, it wasn't like him to help me. Most likely he wanted to settle a score with Massiah after their previous encounter.

I was milling around outside the front of the dorm when Bakugo appeared. I heard Kirishima yell a cheerful goodbye to him from inside and Bakugo waved lazily without looking back. I stepped onto the main path behind him once the doors had closed.

"There you are nerd" he stated without looking back at me, "you ready?"
I stepped up to be walking beside him and gave him a confident nod.

"Let's go" whispered Bakugo close beside me. We had found the person the man yesterday had told us about. An illegal weapon and support items dealer. We had found him just outside a alley way bar as the man had described and followed him as he made his runs through the city. We slid out from the corner we had been hiding behind and followed him quietly at a distance down the bustling street. For a criminal he was very bold I thought, walking through some of the busiest streets. It was late afternoon at this point and I was glad we were in casual clothes. The last thing we would have wanted was to be recognised as UA students.

We followed him out of the main street and onto some quieter roads, having to hang back more to not be noticed. Finally he turned left and through a covered entry way. Bakugo nudged me, then crossed to the other side of the road with me staying right behind him. Once crossed we continued walking casually. He grabbed my wrist and pulled me forward till I was walking level with his right and spoke to me as we continued to walk, the building the man entered across the road not far ahead.

"When we get level with the building I want you to check it out" he stated calmly looking ahead, "I'm going to look at you, so it looks like we're talking. Don't make it obvious alright?" he snarled at the end. He glared down at me and I nodded. There was silence between us for a few more meters before Bakugo turned to face me with a smile, he continued to walk, almost sideways facing me as he spoke cheerfully.

"So anyway man, you should have been there" he laughed. I was so taken aback by his sudden warmth I had to pull my gaze away to focus on the building across the street as we passed. I returned the smile to Bakugo.
"It was so hilarious! Kaminari was all like -" he continued on loudly. As we passed I noticed a large guard standing at the door of what looked to be a small casino. The canopy above was red with large glass doors behind showcasing a brightly lit room filled with people sitting in front of coin machines. As we passed by across the street the guard glared over at us. Bakugo was carrying on loudly and laughing. The guard looked away deciding a couple of school aged kids wasn't worth his attention.

"So what did you see" asked Bakugo much quieter as he leaned in close to me. He wrapped his arm around me, grabbing my shoulder and pulling me in close so we walked side by side, his expression hard and serious again. We were out of ear shot and continued down the street as we spoke.

"It looks like a gambling room or casino," I replied, "there's no way we could walk right in at our age, especially with a guard outside" I was so close to Bakugo I could hear him clench his jaw in annoyance.
"There might be a side door though. One side of the building was connected to its neighbour, but there was a narrow alley along the other side. There is bound to be an emergency exit there"

"And if its locked?" he growled lightly back, "Neither of us are exactly skilled at opening locked doors quietly" he had a point.

"We can at least try" I added. He turned to face me, so close I could feel his warm breath. He glared at me for a moment more then broke away, releasing my shoulder so suddenly I almost stumbled.

"Alright fine, but we can't wait out all night. We do have to get back to school" he replied as he went back to walking in front of me with his hands in his pocket down the street.

Luck was on our side. We circled around the block to avoid passing the guard again and waited around a corner on the same side of the street as the casino. We couldn't get too close without any cover and would have to make a swift run for the alley way if and when the guard was distracted. Luckily we didn't have to wait too long before a loud and seemingly drunk couple stumbled out of the casino. The woman laughed loudly and staggered into the guard, her partner not far behind trying to catch her from falling. The guard turned his back to us to help the woman stay balanced and spoke kindly to the woman's partner.
Without any signal we both moved forward as quickly and stealthily as we could to duck into the alley. Pressing against the wall of the building I peeked around the corner to see if we had been spotted, but the guards attention was fully on the couple, speaking of hailing them a taxi.

Bakugo had continued to move down the alley way, past a dumpster and found a door. My heart began to race and I could hear my own heartbeat in my head, getting louder and louder. I pressed my back to the building wall and slid down till I was sitting on the ground. I knew this feeling, my heart racing, my heartbeat loud in my ears, breathing felt hard, was this anxiety attack? it had been so long since I had felt anxiety like this and it was hard to focus on anything else. I closed my eyes tightly and focused on breathing deeply.
No, this wasn't anxiety, something else.

"Oi," hissed Bakugo down at me in a whisper, "What the hell is wrong with you?"

I could feel it now, more clearly. I had never felt this before, but I knew what it was, what it meant. The beating in my ears quietened and breathing came easily again.

"C'mon Deku, get up. We need to find that man and question him" he turned away to lead back to the door and I got to my feet behind him.

"Forget about him" I said calmly

"Eh?" Bakugo spun on his heel and glared down at me.

"We don't need him, Massiah is here"
