Hey guys! So sorry I haven't updated in way over a month! :(
But I really hope you like this chapter xx
Peter was awoken to the sound of someone opening his door. He smiled slightly as he saw Susan walk in, placing a finger to his lips to make sure she didn't wake Edmund.
Susan smiled as she walked quietly over to the bed and sat down. "Tired?" She said with a small smirk.
Peter laughed lightly. "Just a little." He said, tightening his grip around his brothers shoulders.
Susan nodded. "Take it Edmund is too." She sighed.
Peter sighed too. "Yeah." He said. "But he tends not to show how tired he actually is."
Susan bit her lip. "I don't see why." She mumbled.
"Me either." Peter replied. "Did you find out who gave him the note?"
Susan shook her head. "Apparently no one left it." She said.
Peter sighed in frustration. "We'll try again tomorrow." He said after a while.
Susan nodded in agreement. "Yeah." She breathed.
Peter looked down at Edmund, who had a slight frown on his face. Peter frowned, seeing the look on Edmund's face, pain? He glanced down to Edmund stomach to find his hand over his scar.
Susan bit her lip as she followed Peter's gaze. Peter gave her a reassuring look before starting to slowly massage the scar, moving Edmund's hand slowly out of the way. After a short while the look of pain on Edmund's face dissappeard and he relaxed back into Peter's arms, letting out a small content sigh in his sleep.
Susan frowned at Peter. "Why did you do that?" She asked.
Peter smiled slightly. "It helps with the pain." He told her.
"Really?" Susan asked, slightly shocked.
"I know." Peter replied. "I thought, the first time I tried to do it, I thought he would pull away and refuse. But he said it gets rid of the pain."
Susan slowly nodded. "That's good to know." She muttered.
Peter nodded and sighed.
"What's wrong?" Susan asked quietly.
Peter looked up at her. "It's just." He said. "I hate seeing him like this, in so much pain. That look of guilt always on his face. The dark circles under his eyes from lack of sleep..." He trailed off as Susan placed a hand on his shoulder.
"He'll be fine Peter." She whispered. "I know he will be."
Peter sighed. "He won't be if people keep leaving him notes and whispering to him." He muttered.
Susan took a deep breath. "We'll stop that Peter." She said. "I promise."
Peter looked away from Susan and back to Edmund, unable to keep the smile of his face at the peaceful look on his brothers face. But he also couldn't help the tears that appeared in his eyes. "Peter?" She asked warily.
Peter sniffed. "None of it should of happend Su." He whispered, voice cracking. "He didn't deserve any of it."
Susan swallowed thickly as she watched Peter stroke Edmund's raven hair out of his eyes. "I know he didn't Peter." She whispered.
But Peter didn't listen. "He didn't mean to turn us all in." He said. "He was tricked. Tempted. He had to pay for something that wasn't his fault." He looked slowly up at Susan. "He told me that she hit him Su. Across the cheek." He paused.
"Is that where he got the bruise?" Susan asked slowly.
Peter shook his head. "No, she slapped him on his right cheek. So goodness knows how he got the bruise, and the split lip." Peter swallowed thickly. "No one his age should of had to go through that. He's only twelve! And the worst part is, he had to go through it alone. Can you imagine how scared he must of been? How worried? How lonely?" He took a deep breath, looking back down at his peacefully sleeping brother, tears in his eyes. "It must of been awful for him."
Susan sighed. "I know." She mumbled. "But that's in the past Peter. We just need to move on, all of us." She added.
Peter didn't looked up at her, he just continued staring at his brother. "I don't think Edmund is going to be moving on any time soon." He muttered.
"Maybe not." Susan said. "But, we can help him see that he shouldn't blame himself, that it wasn't his fault."
"I've tried that so many times." Peter said.
"Well." Susan said. "We'll just have to keep on trying."
Peter slowly nodded. "You're right." He sniffed, one of his tears accidentally falling on Edmund's face.
Edmund frowned as his hand went to his face to wipe it off, his eyes slowly opening. He frowned up at Peter before moving his stare to Susan. Susan smiled at him warmly. Edmund smiled weakly back before looking at Peter. "Pete?" He asked at seeing the tears rolling down his older brothers cheeks.
Peter quickly wiped them away and smiled. "Yeah?" He asked.
"Why are you crying?" Edmund asked almost worriedly.
Peter shook his head. "No reason." He said.
Edmund frowned, looking at Susan, who slowly shook her head at him. Edmund bit his lip, and, turning back to Peter, buried his face into his brothers chest.
Peter smiled as he pulled Edmund close, kissing the top of his head. Edmund smiled as he hugged Peter tightly. Susan placed a hand on Edmund's back, noticing Edmund's eyes slowly closing again. "Why don't you go back to sleep Ed?" She suggested. "We'll wake you at lunch." Edmund looked about to protest but Peter stopped him. "We can tell you're exhausted Ed." He said. "And you obviously need sleep."
Edmund looked up at him and after hesitating for only a minute he nodded.
Peter smiled as he lay Edmund back down on the bed. "Sleep tight." He whispered with a smile.
Edmund smiled back and nodded as he felt his eyes slowly closing. The last thing he remembered was Susan placing a gentle kiss to his cheek before he fell asleep.
