Hours Later
Brooke and took turns driving. I attempted to refuse the suggestion at first but she was persistant. We made barely any stops. I was full of adreline needing to get there. Brooke was supportive in her presence alone. As if that wasn't enough she told me stories about her life growing up and when it was her turn to drive i did the same time seemed to pass slowly. Soon enough the sun had set. The sky was pitch black. Stars shined brightly. I parked the car in the street. The driveway was full of parked vehicles.
The house was older and run down with punched out windows. A group of teen boys lingered at the entrance.
I turned and looked over at Brooke.
"Thank you for coming all the way here with me. I wouldn't of been able to handle this ride alone." He said.
Brooke put her hand on his. "I'm here with you now. You'll really be alone again. I'll stay here and get inside the driver's seat so you can focus you're attention on Astrid when she's back with you." She said.
Lucas turned from her and left the car.
Brooke felt her heart jump into her throat she would be full of nerves until she was Lucas and his daughter come out that front door.
...
The young men stood and focused their gaze on Lucas.
Lucas stared back at them. They had a tough exterior. But in the end they boys. Forced to grow up faster then they ever should have.
"Who the hell are you.?" One of them asked.
"Lucas Scott. I'm Astrid's father. I will be leaving here without her. So the only choice left is to lead me to her or you're front door with be broken down." He said. Looking back at the young man.
"Astrid is my girl. What do you want with her.?" The young man questioned.
"I'm bringing her back home with me. She doesn't belong here." Lucas said.
The young man narrowed his gaze at his friends then over at Lucas.
"That isn't what she says. I think it would be best if you just go home and forget you ever came here." He said.
Lucas stood right in front of the older teen.
Locking eyes with him. "I didn't come all this way to leave empty handed. Move on you're own. Or i'll move you." He threatened.
The sound of guns being lifted towards him. Didn't remove his gaze.
"I'm River. We don't want any trouble. Boys let's let Lucas do what he needs to do. You go on inside." He said.
Lucas ignored the strong smell of alcohol coming from the teenager's breath and went up the stairs. Pushing open the old front door.
He walked inside and closed the door behind him.
Lucas scanned the entire front entrance of the single story home.
"Astrid! "Astrid baby where are you.? Daddy's here i've come to take you home!" Lucas yelled out. He left the living room and went into the back bedroom. It was there that he found her. Surrounded by empty alcohol bottles and various empty drug holders.
His heart sinking at the sight of her. Small frame passed out, beaten, bruised, and barely clothed.
"Astrid." He said. Carefully touching her face. Her once perfectly clear olive skin was now black and blue.
He lifted one of her hands. And checked her pulse.
Relieved to find her heart still beating even if it was faint.
Lucas took off his coat and wrapped her small frame in it.
He then took her in his arms and carried her out of the home.
Ignoring the remarks and glares from the young men still lingering on the front staircase.
Brooke quickly unlocked and opened the passenger side door.
Lucas carefully placed a passed out Astrid inside. Then shut the door. Looking to Brooke.
"Before we go home. We need to get her to a hospital. She was drugged and assualted." Lucas said. The words hard to say.
"You do what you need to do. We'll leave once it's done." Brooke said.
Lucas closed the door and walked back over to the front steps.
"Was she happy to see you.?" River mocked.
Lucas bawled up his fist and punched him in the face.
"I know what you did and if anyone else is involved. This is far from over.!" Lucas yelled. Before he went back to car.
Joining Astrid in the backseat. Brooke restarted the car and pulled out of the parking space. Her foot pressing heavy on the gas.
