A/N: Once again, (un) happy valentines day! As you can tell I'm not dead, merely suffering RL and writers block on a 365 oneshot for another fandom (yes I know it was stupid to attempt it, no I'm too far in to be able to back out). As I have done previously there will be follow up updates on White day and Black day (don't know what they are? Google it.) through most of you will want to kill me after Black day. If you want to early access on my works, head over to AO3!
Attempt 134
Ciel yawned as Mr Abberline closed his text book.
'… and since the majority of you obviously don't know how to write a formal essay or debate properly, your assignment this week will be to work in pairs to write a formally worded introduction, exchange them with your partner and respond to them. Once you finish the exercises you can quietly decide your partners and write your names on this piece of paper.' A printed page with two columns of horizontal lines filling it was held up for the class to see.
With that the teacher sat down and opened a folder to begin marking papers, while the class quietly completed the set tasks. It didn't take long for Ciel to complete them, and he was soon sitting bored at his desk. His sleep the previous night had been pretty bad and the last thing he wanted to be doing was sitting in class. Lazily he eyed the sheet on the teacher's table, but he really couldn't be bothered to get up to fill it out. He would just fill it out when he actually left the room, it wasn't like he particularly wanted to work with anyone in his class. Ciel was just starting to nod off at his desk, when the bell rang. The sudden sound of the students getting up to leave went off like a grenade, startling Ciel in awareness. . He scowled at the other students who didn't even notice. With all the speed of a sloth he made his way to the teacher's empty desk.
He really should have known better than to leave it to fate. When he looked at the list there was no un-partnered name for him to write his own against. Confused, he scanned the list of names with a sinking heart until he abruptly found his name written by an unfamiliar hand. Ciel would have screamed aloud in frustration if his partner hadn't been in the doorway leaning casually against the doorframe a smirk on his admittedly good looking face.
'Guess you're stuck with me.' Sebastian drawled smirking, Ciel looked at Sebastian in disgust.
'Let's just get this over with.' Ciel snarled at his partner. 'Write your two statements and give them to me tomorrow so I don't have to see your face on the weekend.' He roughly shoved past the taller boy, completely missing the slight smile that quirked one corner of the taller's lips.
Naturally Ciel had not been anticipating that Sebastian was going to actually have his two statements completed (though he had already completed his). It's not like anyone would have expected a slacker like Sebastian to actually do any work on time. So it was a very startled Ciel who looked up into reddish brown eyes a hand span away, as a sheet of paper was triumphantly smacked down onto the desk in front of him.
'Done.' Sebastian stated smugly crossing his arms cockily. However Ciel wasn't about to let Sebastian derive even the slightest ounce of satisfaction from the situation.
'You took longer than I expected.' He replied coolly as he unclipped his binder and extracted a printed sheet of paper, sliding it over to Sebastian as he took the chair opposite the smaller boy. Ciel looked suspiciously at Sebastian's shit eating grin, before his even more suspicious eyes fell on the folded sheet of paper Sebastian had given him. Why had it been folded? There really wasn't any reason it would have been folded in half. If Sebastian had just printed it off he would have handed him the whole sheet unfolded. If he had brought if from elsewhere, it would have been folded into multiple squares to fit into his pocket, since Sebastian never carried around a binder or anything that could be used to store paper without folding it. The only reason he would have to fold the paper like this would be to hide something on it. Uneasily he reached out to draw the paper nearer to him, his eyes flicking up to Sebastian's face. Some of his suspicions must have shown in his expression, because Sebastian's smirk grew wider, increasing his trepidation.
Cautiously he opened the paper and began to read the statement.
'The purpose of this statement is to inform the reader of the author's desire to take Ciel Phantomhive out on a date. Although this request has been denied multiple times in the past, the author hopes that the afore mentioned person will be in a permitting frame of mind upon receipt of this statement.' Ciel felt heat gather in his cheeks (and he was definitely not embarrassed. No way. Definitely angry, he had to keep thinking he was angry).
'However the author would like to take this beyond a single date. The author wishes to inform the reader of the author's desire to reposition Ciel Phantomhive against the nearest vertical or, if extremely fortunate, horizontal structure and acquaint their faces in a feverish manner.' Ciel was certain the increased speed of his heart was from the rage he felt at Sebastian's words. However he read on, determined that Sebastian wouldn't get the better of him.
'Furthermore if additional consent is granted, the author wishes to explore the consequences of acquainting their genitalia with that of the recipient of this statement.' The heat in his cheeks exploded into mortified and indignant fire. Ciel lifted his eyes from the page with great effort; attempting to burn Sebastian to a pile of cinders with his furious stare, but it sadly had no effect except to make the other's grin bigger. The only thing holding Ciel back from throwing something at Sebastian was the sound of one of the librarians shelving books behind them. Reluctantly Ciel continued to read the rest of the statement.
'However the author recognises that this is a very forward course of action. Therefore the author will settle for the original purpose of this statement and request that Ciel Phantomhive join Sebastian Michaelis for a period of a few hours in an intimate setting, generally used between two persons wishing to understand each other more intimately.'
Of course Sebastian would take the chance to explicitly ask him out. The guy seemed to take every opportunity to aggravate him. A little groan escaped Ciel as he held his head in one hand as his brain sputtered to a stop trying to think of a response. How was he meant to reply to that?
