Chapter 16
.
Saturday July 3rd was the memorial service an funeral for Angel Flint. It seemed a little unusual to agent Fredo, for the funeral to be so soon after the murder. But then some families just needed it over with. Carmen said that she felt Angel would have wanted the funeral tonight, before the next 4th of July pagenat winner was decided. Gary never met Angel, he couldn't determine one way or another if that was true. He wanted to use the viewing to determine not only who might be over emotional at this death, but who would avoid the grieving mother at all costs. Gary's experience taught him that in the killer's own twisted mind, they genuinly believed that they loved Angel and were genuinly mourning her. But they'd avoid her mother, out of some sense of shame for how they'd deprived others of Angel's beauty. Jimmy Tinker and Mary Elizabeth Merchant came here together. They both seemed to be having a hard time with her death, but they shook Carmen and Abby's hands. Samantha Larabee came with her own friends. They didn't seem to get along with Jimmy and Mary Elizabeth, but they didn't fight either. Samantha also seemed relatively okay around Carmen. Michael came with his mother. Based on his reaction he was either innocent, or a sociopath, Gary was leaning more towards the second one. Patrick came with Bridget. Bridget was almost 100 years old and in a wheelchair. It was a big thing to just get her out of the house. Some young people that were either Patrick of Bridget's grandchildren came to help. Among them were Yusef, Danielle, and their small child Nadia. At one point Nadia asked her parents if Angel was in Heaven now with her cat, they said she was, and that the cat had forgiven her. Gary wondered about this, what had Angel done that the cat might need to forgive her for? But for the most part everyone at the funeral seemed to act in a normal way. Mayor Bowen showed up along with her husband. Jamal, who seemed to work at the same local tv station with Angel, he came with his husband Sawyer. One suprise was Jane. Gary was a little suprised that Jane came, she was never even Angel's teacher. Jane didn't cry much, she was holding her husband's hand, but that seemed more for his benefit than hers. Her husband, William, cried over seeing Angel's body. He couldn't bring himself to touch Carmen or even look her in the eye. William Lambert looked to be around 33, seemed to be very emotional over this tenage girl's body. And Jane admitted to telling William about her past as a satanist, the only other person who knew. Gary's first impression of William Lambert made him a likely suspect in Angel's murder.
