"Well, that was lame."
Itachi turned to look at the Suna kunoichi in the corner. She had bright green hair in a long braid down her back, with black tips in her bangs and at the end of her braid. She wore a short kimono style dress in a deep maroon. Her hazelnut eyes glanced at the hall where Shiro had just left through. She flipped a gloved hand in the air at her teammates, indicating the hall entrance. "Such a waste."
"Yeah, I mean can you hear that?" The boy with a bald head said, wrapped in several layers of bright cloth, resembling a monk. "That lame ass is crying after he won. What is Konoha thinking, letting a pansy like that be a shinobi?" The girl and other boy nodded.
Itachi's eyes flashed red so quickly, even someone watching him wouldn't have noticed without their own Sharigan. Mishi, sensing the menacing vibe he was giving off, squatted down next to him.
"Itachi, I think that girl is who Cho is supposed to fight."
Itachi and Mishi both looked over at Team 4. Sayuri was adamently having a oneside conversation with a bored Ume, while Cho looked to be meditatiing. It was almost strange to see her so calm considering where they were. And when Cho opened her own brown eyes, she instantly focused on the Suna girl. It seemed she had heard them also and was not happy about it.
"Next we have from Suna, Takara!"
Instead of walking down the steps or leaping down from the observation deck, Takara created a large water dragon, and rode it down to the arena. The proctor seemed almost miffed by the display before turning back to the crowd.
"And from Konoha, Cho Akimichi!"
"An Akimichi?" Takara barked out a laugh, "if I'd known I was fighting one of them, I'd of just brought a cake and told them to surrender and they could have it."
Her two teammates joined in her laughter. The other Konoha combatants and spectators in the stands bristled at the insult. They all knew of the pride that the Akimichi had in their clan. Ume and Sayuri started to storm over to the laughing teammates, but Itachi flashed in front of them.
"Don't waste your energy and chance being banned from the exams. Just sit back and watch their faces go slack as Cho defeats their teammate."
With a growl, Ume slide her tonto back into place on her back. Sayuri glared at the two boys who only sneered and made a rude sexual gesture to the two kunochi. Sayuri turned to Cho to wish her luck, but was blinded by a flash of lightning so hot it caused everyone in the observation waiting area to instantly sweat.
The thunder crack made most of the non-shinobi in the arena kazekage leaned forward slightly, which caused the Hokage to smirk with pride and made a mental note to inform the Akimichi clan of his interest in their young prodigy.
When the proctor and Takara lowered their arms from their faces, Cho was climbing out of a charred crater about five feet deep. Her dark green hair had come loose of it's buns and was flaring around her, electricity circulating through the strands.
Cho lifted her chin to glare down at Takara from the lip of the crater. "Hey Bitch. Go ahead. Get that cake. You can eat it at your "I Got My Ass Handed to Me" party.
The proctor smirked, showing off his serrated teeth. "Well then, let's begin."
Takara leapt backwards, flipping as she did so and tossed a dozen kunai and shuriken at Cho. Cho encased herself in a lightninig force field and charged the other girl, the weapons bouncing off. Takara kept dodging Cho's weapons, laced with electricity.
Cho used Partial Expansion jutsu, growing her arm to block Takara's next jump. Takara formed the handseals for Water Bullets, blasting Cho's enlarged arm and the ground around Cho. Cho shook her arm out, feeling welts forming from the jutsu. Takara stayed up along the wall, clinging with her chakra. Cho was already annoyed of the evasion tactic. Instead of actually attacking, Takara seemed to be trying to tire Cho. Something that many shinobi did when it came to Akimichi was think that becuase of their size, they had little stamina. Cho smirked, she had more stamina than most her age. But that didn't mean she was going to let this drag on.
Instead, she calmly turned around and walked out onto the water, where she sat atop the water. She looked up at her opponent. "If you're going to just keep running from me than I'm going to sit here and wait. I came here for a fight, not a childish game of tag."
There was a slight murmor from the stands, as if they were agreeing her.
"So you forfeit huh?" Takara smirked standing sideways on the wall. "I knew you would be lazy but sheesh. Thought you'd fight some."
"Bitch, you need to get that sand out of your ears. I ain't chasing you around. We'll be here all day and other people have battles to fight. If anyone's being lazy its you for refusing to fight. Is that how you got here? Just run away from all your enemies? No wonder Leaf won against Sand if all their shinobi are like you."
Itachi, Mishi, Ume and Sayuri all snickered at the insult, while the other Suna shinobi bristled in the waiting area.
Takara didn't take it well either. She launched herself off the wall, incasing herself in a water tornado that barreled down at Cho. Cho only smirked and didn't move. She waited til the twister was within 10 yards and then she let loose the electrical charge she'd been building sitting there. Large bolts of lightning shot out around her in all directions. The lake was electrified to the point it began to boil over. Takara tried to turn her water tornado but she was too close. Instead she released the tornado and used a large water bullet to blast her to the other side of the arena. But because the lake had boiled over so much, the entire area was filled with electirifed mist that caused the Mist shinobi responsible for protecting the viewers in the stands to erect shield barriers.
Cho still sat in the lidst of the boiling water, a layer of lightning surrounded her, protecting her from the extremely heated water. Her hair was now glowing almost a neon green color, wiping around her. LIghtning crawled across her like a second skin. Her eyes even seemed to glow. She tilted her head to the right to follow the new direction Takara's jet of water had proppeled her. Everytime a bit of lightning came close to touching the jets from Takara's jutsu, she'd released it only to form another jet to send her to another end of the arena.
A man in the stands stood up and shouted at Takara. "Stop running and disgracing our village. Fight! Back!"
This caused the girl to pause in her escape to look at the man. A look of utter pain crossed her face and made her miss the bolt of lightning heading straight for her. As the light from the lightning brightened against her skin, she finally took notice of it. But it was too close to be able to dodge so she just lifted her arms to try and spare her face and torso. She could feel the intense heat from it and hear it, but she wasn't feeling any pain other than the extreme, rapidly forming sunburn on her visible skin. She tried to peek only to be blinded by the lightning inches from her face.
"Proctor." Cho finally stood up from her place in the middle of the lake, "Call it or else I blast her. And with the strength of it, it'll kill her."
The man didn't hide his consideration. He glanced up to the Mizukage for input. The Mizukage also seemed to consider it. Then, after a grunt from the Hokage, he waved his hand lazily. The proctor actually seemed disappointed in the response. He lifted his hand towards Cho. "Winner, Cho Akimichi."
With that, Cho released the lightning, which slowly faded to nothing, making the arena seem dim now. Takara slowly, and painfully, lowered her arms. Even though the lightning hadn't touched her, the heat from it had caused severe burns on her arms and lower legs. Her arms had begun to swell and blister, causing her gloves to cut into the damaged skin. She was sweating and severely dehydrated also. She released her own jutsu all at once instead of lowering herself down. She fell quickly to the ground but was caught by a water bird that gently delivered her to the approaching medics.
The bird then flew up towards the waiting area. Takara and Cho watched as the bird landed on the railing next to Shiro. He only nodded to Takara before walking to stand against the wall as the bird seemed to melt.
Author's Note: I apologize for the short chapter, and for the long wait, but the past year has been hell fighting to get our kids back and having a custody battle with my ex... My ex is a horrible man on the inside that pretends to be Mr. Perfect infront of everyone else. Using his position in the Navy as a way to excuse how he's been non-existent in my son's life for the past 10 years.
Anyways, hope this chapter helps ease some of the impatience. The next few chapters are going to be more fights so they'll be hard. Especially since it's been so long since I've watched any Naruto to help with fighting styles. And I focused so much on trying to make my characters different from one another that I can't really use the same style fighting for any of them really. Well, Ume and Shiro are slightly similar but that's about it. Also, the ending with Shiro was so not planned but I really loved it. It seemed a great way to explore Shiro's personality here. To explain him more. And yes, he did hear what they said about him at the beginning of the chapter.
