No One's POV
"Elskan," Elijah quickly catches up to his mate just as she walks out onto the back deck of the Mikaelson mansion, her motions jerky and agitated as she paces across the deck, looking across the backyard of the estate. "Elskan," He repeats again. "Are you okay?"
"I'm- I'm fine, Elijah." Brooklyn sighs, turning to look at Elijah. "Frustrated… But fine. I promise." She sighs again, but gives Elijah a small smile.
"Well, my brother does have a habit of frustrating people." Elijah smiles back at his mate. "It's a default setting by this point." He comments with a playful smirk.
"Have I told you that you're a dork?" Brooklyn sasses, giving Elijah a playful eye roll. "But, I kind of love it."
"Hmm," Elijah smiles wider, pulling his mate into his arms. "Feel better?" He simply asks.
"A little," Brooklyn hums as she leans into his chest. "I'm going for a run."
"A run-" Elijah worries for the well-being of Brooklyn and the child or children that were potentially growing inside his mate, but mostly for Brooklyn as he didn't want her to put pressure on her still broken wrist.
"As a human." Brooklyn cuts off. "You don't have to worry, Mr. Worry Wort." She rolls her eyes. "I'll be back soon. Just need to clear my mind."
Walking back into the Mikaelson mansion, leaving his mate to go on her jog, the smell of acrylic paint, the familiar body spray that Brooklyn wore, and other scents pulled Elijah towards the room Brooklyn had previous occupied when she stayed at the Mikaelson mansion, curiosity getting the best of him and prompting the Mikaelson patriarch to open the guest room.
A room, the previous night, his brother had told them he had destroyed in his fit of rage and was under construction; it seemed like a plausible excuse, Niklaus wasn't exactly known for his self-control nor his calm temperament, but for some reason something irked at Elijah's mind, like the lie seemed too convenient.
"What are you doing?" Niklaus suddenly appears behind his brother just as he cracks the door open, his hand on the handle, and the Original Hybrid looking a mixture of cross and agitated.
"What's in this room?" Elijah questions his brother.
"That's none of your concern." Niklaus replies immediately.
"You said that this room was under construction." Elijah responds. "That isn't the case, is it?"
"I don't see how that is any of your concern. This is my house, brother." Niklaus evades the question. "Brooklyn is staying in your room."
Elijah proceeds to push open the door, revealing a room full of paintings Niklaus had done in the absence of Brooklyn, in addition to a random mixture of things he had bought amidst his slaughter of the Eastern Seaboard, all things that had reminded him of Brooklyn or things he had bought for her, but never sent.
"You have absolutely no business in here." Niklaus snarls at his brother, anger flicking in his gaze like flint sparking off stone.
"Brooklyn is my mate, brother." Elijah retorts back as they face off. "I would say this is my business. And you gave up any right to claim her as yours when you broke her trust."
"Uh- Alph," Daniel steps forward as Brooklyn jogs up to the Mikaelson mansion nearly an hour later, looking somewhat restless as if he expected the Original Hybrid to appear any moment at catch him talking to Brooklyn or perhaps Hayley or Tyler to appear and stop him. "Alpha," He bows his head in acknowledgment of her status.
"Daniel," Brooklyn looks a little surprised to see her best friend's Beta. "You can call me Brooklyn. What do you need?"
"Can- can we talk?"
"Sure, what can I do for you, Daniel? Let's take a walk." Brooklyn suggests, gesturing for him to join her by her side.
"I heard about- I heard about this morning," He begins. "What you said to Klaus… About loyalty." He offers.
"I see," Brooklyn nods. "And who are you loyal to?" She challenges; loyalty in pack ran deep in the Alpha Wolves, as deep as family ties, if not deeper, and she took it seriously when other packs did not respect that.
"Klaus." He promptly answers.
"But-" She prompts, sensing that there is something else.
"I am loyal to my pack and Klaus… He gave us a pack, a home... Freedom from behind bound to the moon. I have no wish to change that." Daniel begins to reply, carefully choosing his words. "But there are others that are not loyal. Who wish to break the sire bond."
"Who?" Brooklyn growls slightly, her expression darkening.
