As I sat in the room for a few minutes I thought about two people I hadn't in awhile. Sarah and Robert, the two people who helped us more than any other . I wouldnt be in New York right now if wasn't for them. I saw a pad of paper on the desk and decided to write them a short note as I had promised I would keep in touch.

I sat down at the desk and Quil asked "What are you doing Jake?"

"Im writing a letter to those farmers in Wyoming who helped us after we escaped. I promised we'd keep in touch. Once im done writing we will go meet Isiah." I informed my cousin as I began writing

Dear Mr and Mrs Vladovar

I promised you I would keep in touch. I can never thank you enough for all you did for me and Quil. The world needs more people in the world like you. After we left the farm we headed to Montana and ran into an old friend of ours named Josh before heading to the hotel you booked for us. The three of us then headed south to Salt Lake City and stayed overnight before intending to head to Carson City. We wound up in Las Vegas by accident due to getting on the wrong highway. We ended up not being able to stay there due to certain events and our friend invited us to come stay with him at his place in New York. We had the awesome car you gave us shipped to the city via a cargo plane. It ls likely I will be staying here for the time being. Things aren't perfect but they are better than they have been in a long time. I will reach out again once i'm fully settled.

Yours truly

Jacob Black and Quil Ateara

Quil looked at it and thought it was a good update letter. We both signed it and I folded it and put it in my pocket.

"Ready to head back into the living room?" Quil asked to which I replied yes and for him to remind me to ask Isiah for a envelope.

We headed into the main room were Josh and Isiah were waiting for us along with two other handsome young men.

As a I walked in I couldn't help but admire the amazing view of NYC. I could get used to this.

Isiah greeted us and directed us to sit down. The suede sofa was super comfortable as I sat down.

"You already know who I am, this is Jonah and Diego." Isiah explained as they both said hello.

"Jake, Quil you are welcome to stay with us as long as you need too. I know all about what it took for you to get here and I assure you are safe here. Ivan is not going to relent in his search for you. It is highly probable he will come for you here but I give you my word he is not going to take you. There is a whole network of werewolves in this town and a large LGBT community. When he comes for you I will get the word out and you will have an army at your side. Dark werewolves might be a minority but he is the worst of the worst and its high time his transgressions come to an end" Isiah told us.

"Thank you sir. I very much appreciate your hospitality. I never thought I'd wind up here." I told Isiah. I could sense his sincerity. I truly felt at long last I would be free of that monster and could finally live without fear.

"It is my pleasure." Said Isiah as a shirtless hot and jacked Asian man entered the room.

"Dinner is ready gentlemen." he said in stereotypical lisp voice for a gay man.

"This is Dr. Jin Kazuya our historian and cooks frequently for everyone." Isiah explained as we got up and joined the council for dinner.

I met the other members of the werewolf leadership as we sat down. Dinner consisted of Caesar salad, shiitake mushroom chicken and broccoli.

It wasn't too eventful and conversation was relatively light. The other members of the council asked a bit about us and how their home was our home. They also talked about Ember Ruset business as I wondered what their day jobs were to afford a clearly multimillion dollar apartment like this.

When dinner concluded and we helped clean up Quil reminded me about my letter.

I went up to Isiah and asked him "Where would the envelopes be? I need to mail something to two wonderful people in Wyoming. I promised them me and Quil would keep in touch."

"sure give me a second." Isiah said as he stepped out of the room for a moment and then returned with an envelope and handed it too me.

I placed the letter in the envelope and sealed it and wrote down the address and my current one.

"I will make sure this is mailed first thing in the morning." Isiah told me and I then asked "I noticed a study would it be alright if me and Quil explored the collection of books you have?" I asked. I was hoping to find more info on our world and dark werewolves so if Ivan came for me I'd be fully ready for him.

"That should be fine. I dont think Jin would have an problem You are our guests." Isiah explained as I thanked him and we headed to the study.

Jin was in the study at his desk looking at a book of some sort. The study had bookshelves all around and had to be two stories with stairs on each side. A telescope was by the majestic window behind the desk along with a moon globe. There was yet another stunning view of the city.

Jin noticed us and said "Yes gentleman how I can help you?" He said looking up from his desk.

"I was wondering if you had any books on dark werewolves." Jin looked at me slightly puzzled as I continued. "Im hoping to find something that will help me and Quil bring Ivan down."

"I should have something on that follow me." Jin said as he got up and directed us to follow him. We walked up the stairs and past several bookshelves. Jin got on a ladder and started searching and moving his fingers like a librarian.

"This should assist in what your looking for." as he pulled out a book. "I must warn you though some of this is very dark stuff very dark indeed." Jin said with caution as he climbed down and handed the book to us. "Your more than welcome to sit downstairs or upstairs." We both thanked him and heading back down the stairs to sit down.

"The Dark Within the Moon" Quil read aloud. "The title alone sounds creepy. Are you sure you want to do this Jake? You've tried and done so well to put our past behind you. Do you really want to reopen the door?" Quil warned to which I replied " I'm not reopening it. I have to find a way to take the monster down."

I opened to the first page and began to read about how not all werewolves are good and some are pure evil and it dates back to earliest werewolves in ancient Greece.

I didn't read much when Josh entered the room wearing a white t shirt, black leather jeans and a black leather jean jacket along with a black baseball cap backwards.

"Isiah told me I could find you in here. I'd like to invite both of you out and see the nightlife. I want you to experience what its like to not be afraid anymore." Josh said as it seemed Quil was trying to contain himself at Josh being in leather. It was rather obvious he was falling in love with him and I was happy for him.

Quil jumped up and said "Sure I'm down. Jake do you want to come?" I looked at the book for a second and then at him. As much as I wanted to learn about dark werewolves I didn't want to stay cooped inside. I could do this later I thought. Josh was right I had to experience what it was like to no longer be afraid and the sooner I did it the better off I'd be.

I put the book on the table and thanked Jin for his help and replied "Glad to be of service. Your welcome to explore my library anytime. I'l leave the book out for you. Have fun."

We headed downstairs and out the door. As soon as we were on the street Quil asked "Where are we going mister?"

"Im taking you to a gay bar called Rise on Ninth Avenue. It's one of my favorites." I had no idea what a gay bar was but it sounded cool. As we walked I was once again amazed by the bustle of this city and how even at night it was lively. The mosaic of people, the sirens and busy streets. I could get used to this.

A short while later we reached the bar. We presented our ID's and headed inside. I wondered yet again what kind of ID Josh uses considering he's over 300 years old. There were tons of young men inside the bar. I immediately wondered how many of them were of our kind. There had to be some. To the left was the bar with a TV overhead playing a dance competition of sorts.

"What would you guys like?" Josh asked.

"Josh please you've spent enough on us and have been more than kind to us." I told him not wanting to take advantage of him.

"No I insist." Josh said as I gave and told him "I'll have a Blue Moon" and Quil answered with "tequila sunrise."

"You got it." Josh replied as he got us our drinks.

He came back over and we starting having our alcohol. I recalled I was curious about what the Ember Ruset's day job was and simply had to ask Josh.

" Josh what is the Ember Ruset's day job?" I asked with wonder to which he replied "Most of them are in real estate, one is a physician, and Jin works for Columbia university in their history department." He explained as I thought that was a perfect cover up for what they really were.

We talked for a few minutes when Quil suggested we sit down at a table that had opened up. I agreed and as I stupidly walked backwards I bumped into someone. I immediately turned around to say "Sorry about that."

The man I bumped into had long rounded muscles, copper skin, cropped black hair and brown eyes and was overall extremely hot. He was wearing a leather jacket and jeans. As I looked at into his beautiful eyes I felt this electric feeling in my body I had never felt before. Did what I just think happened really occur? I had never seen him before but for some reason he looked slightly familiar.

"It's perfectly ok." He said in a very deep sexy voice. The feeling I felt only grew and I felt I had to introduce myself.

"Im Jacob, Jacob Black." I said nervously as I reached out my hand and he did the same. As I shook it I could feel his strong grip and the warmth of his hand. It was hot to the touch. He was clearly a werewolf like me.

"I'm Sam Uley. It's a pleasure to meet you Jacob." Sam replied in his deep voice as I remembered seeing someone similar to him in my dreams. Josh had told me it could occur. Was this the man I had seen?

Sam continued. "These are my friends, Embry and Jared." He pointed as they both did a sideways peace sign. Could it be, had I finally found him? But why was he here and not the place I was told about? La Push. Was it destiny that I came to New York? It sure seemed that way because of how he looked back at me. It was almost clear that it was.
