William and Grell had officially began dating after her last kill. It had been almost a year since the last sighting of the leader of the small group of demons.
William hurried through his work wanting to be at least romantic for his lover whenever he headed home. Had it really been a year since he asked for them to become a couple? It hadn't been as painful as he expected.
Grabbing his papers and work bag, he made his way down to the elevator to the lobby. He handed off the stack of applications for scythe modifications to a secretary bidding her a good evening.
He entered the redhead's apartment with his spare key hanging up his things. He could smell the faint scent of roses and elderflowers wafting in the air.
"Grell?"
"I'm in the bedroom darling~"
He hoped his lover wasn't going to try and seduce him right away.
"Are you ready for a night out?"
He heard no reply. He worried moving farther into the home. Grell sat in the seat of her vanity fixing the last of her make up. The bright red lipstick shimmering on her lip.
"I'm more than ready. I look amazing."
William was stunned to her as is. He moved towards her resting his hands on her shoulders.
"You look beautiful."
"And you look really handsome."
She leaned her head on his hand kissing it.
"Do we finally get to have a night out? As a couple?"
He stared at the lip prind on his skin. He would leave it on for now while they were away from the public eye.
"I suppose so."
She giggled getting out of her seat.
"Now...where will my darling, William take me?"
He shrugged taking one of the wipes Grell used to clean off make up to clean his hand.
"Somewhere that should be romantic enough by your standards."
"Oh? My William, such a man of mystery~"
He rolled his eyes holding his hand out.
"Shall we ?"
She smiled lifting herself out of his way. She clung to his arm leaving her flat.
"Let's..."
They made way down to one of the most busiest sections in the London Realm. William held her close to him as they approached a rather pricey looking restaurant.
"William... Is this all for me?"
"Perhaps."
Grell cooed cuddling with him.
"I spoil you more than I should."
She turned to him playing her usual act of overreacting.
"How could you that? Don't I deserve to be spoiled?"
He shrugged keeping his stoic face.
"Maybe I should stop?"
Grell smacked his arm playfully.
"That's a rude thing to say!"
William turned his head towards her raising his eyebrow.
"You really don't want to have dinner, so you?"
She closed her mouth hugging onto him. She stroked his hand with her thumb letting out a whisper of an apology.
William shook his head knowing better than to have teased like that. As much as the redhead could dish out an insult, she really going to take one back.
"Let's just try to enjoy the evening together, shall we?"
She nodded trying to act as please as possible. She wasn't going to allow her attitude to ruin a good night. She wasn't going to allow for their first public date to end an absolute tragedy.
They soon entered taking up their reservation spot. They were seated a little bit more towards the back in a more secluded area. The redhead frowned seeing that they weren't truly in public if they were going to be in such a corner.
"Hey, everything will be okay. You need to relax yourself. I made the reservations and forgot ask about a specific area to sit."
She eyes met his, scanning for an sign of falsehood. She smiled taking hold of his hand.
"Okay. I believe you."
William could feel his face heating up and his kept their contact going.
"Thank you for that."
"What's wrong? Didn't think I'd believe you?"
"Honestly, no."
She smiled squeezing his hand. Her own face having a pink hue spreading across it.
"It feels nice knowing you do."
William's face continued to grow darker in the shade of crimson.
"If that's how you feel..."
"If that's how I feel? It's what I know. You know more than anyone I love affection. Especially from you."
She gave a playful wink wanting to make him turn redder.
"Stop."
William tried his best to keep his composure. He wasn't going to allow the redhead to win.
"Stop what?"
"You know exactly what."
She gave a small grin running one of her legs along his under the table. He gripped the tablecloth looking at her in disbelief.
"What did I say?"
She blinked trying to act so innocent.
"All you said was to stop. You have get to tell me what."
He lowered his head feeling all the blood crawl across his face.
"Stop trying to feel me up in the middle of the restaurant."
"I'm doing no such thing. We're in a corner space of a restaurant."
He rolled his eyes hating her snarky comments. He reached under the table pushing her leg away.
"Enough."
She frowned sitting back up with her arms crossed.
"You're no fun."
"I'm not the one trying to get physical in public."
His ears were red from embarrassment. He should have known better than to not expect this.
"Fine. I'll be good for you."
Grell crossed her arms pouting a bit. When he wouldn't react to her behaviour, she stopped. William took his time to try and calm down.
The waiter soon came and went with the orders leaving them alone. William sipped his water hoping to bring himself to be more social.
"How has work been?"
"Good, I suppose. Dealing with the newbies is always stressful. You should know, darling~"
William groaned agreeing with her.
"I know I'm not supposed to judge them. We were once like then but, none of them are as good as I was."
Grell leaned back crossing her arms.
"What does that say about me?"
"You know what grades you got. Mine were just better overall."
"So rude. What kind of loving boyfriend disrespects his girlfriend?"
"I'm not being rude."
He sighed crossing his arms.
"I'm just stating the facts. You were able to to take me out the first handful of times."
She softened up a bit smiling.
"You mean that?"
"Did I mean what?"
She cooed grabbing his hand and kissing it.
"Oh, William~ Aren't you just the greatest charmer!"
He sighed letting her be affection. He didn't yet understand how she received compliments and made them into something she wanted to hear.
They soon finished their dinner waiting on the waiter to bring them the change. Both of them way too full to even think about dessert.
"Grell... I have something important I must ask you..."
She looked at him with a pleasant smile. Her head leaning onto her hands laced under her chin.
"Go on~"
"Well..."
"I have some you must sign. It's for work."
The smile fell from her face looking at him with a huge disappointment lingering in her voice.
"You brought papers to have me sign on our first public date?"
William looked at her with his face as stern as ever. He grabbed a form that had been tucked away neatly within his coat.
"Please."
She rolled her eyes grabbing the folder from him. She flipped it open scanning the first page. She looked confused gazing up at him.
"What the hell is this?"
William straightened up lacing his hands in his lap.
"It's paperwork."
"I know that William, I can read. I mean, what is it for?"
William stayed the same with an unchanging expression.
"It's a contract for us. It's a notice for the department heads and the council to be notified of our relationship. So there's no favouritism towards you. Also, there will be no public affection more than a small kiss."
Grell was speechless. Her whole body was frozen glancing down at the papers again. Her hands moved up slowly covering her mouth.
"If you don't want to sign it, I'll take it back and we'll continue to keep this private."
He reached out to scoop up the folder. She yanked it back holding it tightly against her chest.
"No! I am not letting you take these. These are as close to a proposal as I'm getting for a while."
He sighed seeing her dig through her purse for a pen. She sighed it happily handing it back. He stuffed it back into his coat getting up. He thanked the waiter getting his things in order looking at Grell.
"Let's go. Is there anything else you wanted to do tonight?"
She giggled grabbing his arm as they left the restaurant. She thought about it for a second standing on the tips of her toes.
"How about dessert at my place? I'll make sure to swallow every bit of it~"
