As Enid continued her journey through the new land, she saw the boys and Biddy not too far away, sitting and chatting. The boys, as usual, were bright, bubbly, and full of youth and life. Biddy, however, looked a bit...worn out. "That's completely understandable. Cuphead and Mugman can be a lot to handle sometimes," Enid giggled to herself, running up to them as fast as her high heels could carry her.
"Boys, Biddy! I'm here!" Enid called, both of the boys quickly going and embracing her. Biddy just smiled.
"Good to see ya, pal!" Cuphead said, giving Enid a somewhat rough pat on the back. "Mean ol' Dice Man didn't rough ya up too much, this time, huh? You look great!"
Enid immediately shook her head, hugging both of the boys excitedly. "Oh, no! He was absolutely lovely to me, boys! He went on this long talk about how he no longer wishes to be enemies, and he even apologized to me! He let me hug him!" Enid giggled, the boys looking shocked.
"Hot dawg! He must really like you, then! Usually King Dice is a fella that ya don't wanna mess with!" Cuphead said.
"Don'cha know who you're talkin' to, Cups? It's Enid! Everybody she meets ends up lovin' her!" Mugman added, Enid blushing. Why on earth did Mugman find so much good in her? She wasn't able to understand. Shaking the thought off, she just looked at Biddy, who had a look of accomplishment on her face. She smiled triumphantly, knowing that her plan had worked.
"So, you three wanted to show me around? That's awfully nice of you! I'd been wantin' to see you guys for a while, now!" Enid smiled, Biddy getting up and dusting off her dress. Enid was just now realizing how old it was. It had to be from the Victorian era!
"Oh, Enid, it's nothing. Isle Three is very big, and we decided that this would be the most beneficial thing for us to do. Having us sit as you wander around aimlessly wouldn't be very smart, after all," Biddy said, the boys nodding. "Of course, we'll let you do a lot of exploration by yourself, but we'd just like to show you the most important parts."
As they walked, the breezy, salty air still reminded Enid of home. For some reason, it really reminded her of Audrey…
"Enid, you're a crazy lady. You really think that runnin' away is gonna make things better? Just imagine what your poor mamma and daddy will do when they wake up and see that their precious little baby is gone!" Enid remembered Audrey shouting as she was mapping out a plan to run away. She could start over. No one would ever find her there!
"Oh, Audrey, shut up! Daddy wouldn't care! He'd be happy if I were outta the picture. As for Mamma….God bless her, but me runnin' away would be the same as her givin' me up to one of those Ferguson boys! The Fergusons live outta state, don't they?" Enid replied, wiping a tear from her eyes. This was getting closer and closer to the date in which she fell. It was probably about three days before she found those fateful dice.
"Enid, darlin', you're a lost cause. One of the most famous boys in all of America wants to take your hand in marriage, and you decline him? You'd be so rich! So famous! You'd be all over the news!" Audrey giggled as she grabbed Enid's shoulders. Enid just shook her head.
"I don't wanna marry like that, Audrey! I wanna marry for love! This is 1930! People marry for love in 1930! I wanted to marry Harry until Daddy sent him away! I loved Harry, and Daddy knew that! That's why he got rid of him!" Enid remembered wailing. She snapped out of it when Cuphead tugged on her dress.
"C'mon, Slowpoke! We're gonna show you a really cool place!" Cuphead said, yanking Enid by the dress until they eventually caught up with the other two.
"Look, it's the pier! We always see really cool ships comin' through here! There's one, the Lillian, that folks can learn how to operate...but Mugs won't let me," Cuphead continued, Enid looking into the distance and seeing one sailing away.
"Oh, that's Captain Brineybeard's ship! He must be back from another one of his fishing expeditions!" Mugman said, Biddy nodding. "Always on the run, that man," she added.
Upon walking a bit farther, the four came across a junkyard. It looked pretty messy, but Enid clearly saw a sign that said "EXPERIMENTAL LABORATORY." And...to her surprise, she saw the same robot that was with Biddy standing there! He seemed to be shut down, and loud clings and clangs could be heard.
"It's pretty explanatory, but that's my father's lab. Not very impressive, I know...but he likes it, and that's all that matters to me," Biddy smiled, sighing. He loved being in a junkyard all the time! Enid certainly didn't understand that! Enid also noticed a very rickety house when she looked around. Every window had some kind of crack or break, there was a hole in it, a fat, grey cat sat in one of the broken windows, and there seemed to be...burn marks?
"Oh dear...whose house is that?" Enid asked.
"It's my house. It's all my father could afford. It was owned by my grandparents, who paid it off. This dress belonged to my grandma, too. I can't afford to buy a new one, so she just gave me all of the old clothes that belonged to her mother…" Biddy said, hanging her head a bit. Enid then realized why Biddy's father loved the junkyard so much.
"You've...uh...got a lovely cat, at least," Enid replied, trying to be optimistic.
"I suppose so. That's Garfunkel. He's incredibly lazy, but he does enjoy picking on the rat that shares our home with us," Biddy said rather quickly, wanting to get away from her house. It made her feel ashamed of herself.
The four of them then pressed on, Enid taking one last glance at the robot. She couldn't help but be fascinated by it. She was certainly excited to meet Biddy's father, whoever he was.
"Your daddy seems brilliant, Biddy! I know that Mugman said that he was a mad scientist, but if he's anything like you, he's surely lovely!" Enid smiled, trying to brighten Biddy's mood. She couldn't help that she was poor…
"Oh, I'm sure that he'll love you as much as you'll love him...and as much as I love him. He's a bloody nutter, but he's my nutter, I suppose," Biddy smiled, shaking her head and chuckling. Pretty soon, the four arrived at a theatre.
"Oh, they have a theatre here? I've actually been in several dramas myself!" Enid cried, her golden eyes sparkling with excitement. The boys smiled, Biddy chuckling again.
"Oh, the theatre gets all kind of stars in it! One of them, Missus Sally Stageplay, happens to be a very dear friend of mine!" Biddy said.
"Yeah, and she's super good! She's bold, dramatic, and always gets standing ovation when she performs!" Cuphead said.
"As if that wasn't cool enough, she always finds her way to put her husband and twin children into her productions!" Mugman added. "Enid, I bet if she sees that you're good enough, she'd take you in as an apprentice! You could make it big here in Inkwell Isle!"
"Oh, Mugman...that's if she sees me as fit. I'm no professional, y'know," Enid smiled, still blushing from his last remarks. Then, the four went to their final destination, the incredibly large, Victorian-style house that she'd seen when she first entered.
"I'm sure that King Dice mentioned that he lived in Isle Three...that's his house," Biddy pointed to it, rolling her eyes. "Dare I say that it'll be my future house when we get married," she said teasingly, eyeing up the massive building. Enid originally assumed that Biddy was exaggerating when she said that King Dice was loaded, but by looking at the house, she realized that Biddy was right.
"He lives here...alone? Does he have any hired help?" Enid asked. Biddy shook her head.
"Absolute solitude. He tends to hold grandiose parties on the bottom floor. He invites all of his socialite cronies...and me, sometimes. I tend to stay and help him tidy up afterward," Biddy explained, seeming to be in a bit of a daze as she remembered the past. Enid chuckled seeing her like this, as it reminded her of how she would act around Harry.
Whenever the four got back to where they'd initially met up, Biddy, Cuphead, and Mugman decided to bid Enid farewell, leaving her to herself in this new place. As much as she immediately wanted to visit one of the locations that they'd visited on their walk, she saw many other buildings and apartments, and one office building in particular seemed to be calling her name. She decided that it wouldn't hurt for this to be her first stop.
