I drew my sword and prepared myself, for the first time in my life I can honestly say that I'm thankful to be wearing armor.

I can hear the creature's claws scratching and cutting deep into the metal, the sound of its skull breaking as Jose's hammer hits the creature's head, the boy had lost his sword and was now using his hammer.

"Come on!" Jose screams as he used his left hand to pull me to my feet.

I can see the men protecting the slaves and the scribes, the lizards are concentrating their attacks on them, but the men have formed a circle around those that can't defend themselves.

I feel the world slowing down, as I see a lizard jumping towards Jose and I feel my body move on its own, there's nothing to it, I simply lift my sword and let the weight of the creature do the rest.

Jose looks at me his eyes wide and moves his head up and down, thanking me for saving him.

Still, the lizards are coming and there's more of them pouring threw the forest.

"Charge!" I hear one of the men scream and the sound of the horses galloping reach my ears.

The calvary charged passed us and headed straight towards the lizard horde.

"Charge!" Jose and William screamed as if they were now thinking as one.

"You heard them, Charge!" I screamed and everyone let out roars as we all ran behind the horsemen.

The voices of horses and the men sounded like they belonged to the beasts from the depths of hell.

In an instant the sound of a man screaming could be heard as a knight was brought down by a lizard, only for his horse to kike the creature to death, the horse itself had three of the things on its back and two were bitting on tits neck and still, the thing wouldn't die.

Hoses bit into the lizards and flung them into the air where their riders easily cut the creatures down.

I ran passed a man who was on the ground a lizard ready to bite onto the man's exposed neck, I did the only thing I could do, I drove my sword straight into the gap between the legs of the creature, it fell dead.

The hunters seemed to vanish into the trees, one kill after another was done secretly, but whenever one of the creatures mysteriously fell dead, I could see a glimpse of one of the poisoned knives they carried with them.

How long we fought, I all honesty I don't know, but when it all ended the snow around us was covered in blood and the giant Lizard corpses littered the forest floor.

I gasped for air and I noticed that the men were all beginning to circle Jose, William and myself, I prepared to fight for my life once more and I noticed that the men that would openly joke about us, kneeled.

I had heard about this, stories told to me by my uncles and teachers, about how knights would kneel to those lords or kings they deemed worthy.

A knight, a mercenary would obey and die for gold, but to have them willingly kneel after a battle, was said to be worth more than an entire kingdom.

These were the men told to me in stories, the men that would follow a dethroned lord, even when the man didn't have anything at all.

"Rise," I said and I heard both William and Jose say the same.

I began to look at my surroundings and I noticed that already the scribes and those that in charge of repairing the knight's armors were drawing the creatures, cutting off their claws and pulling out the beast's teeth.

Watter was already being passed around and the men were having the blood washed off their armors, no one said anything but as we began to move, I noticed that there were eyes following us deeper and deeper into the forest.

We finally stopped walking, when the sun went down, but again this strange place made me know that I wasn't anywhere near my old home.

A giant white tiger walked passed me, there was another just like it not too far away, yet both creatures were the same size as the horses we had us and they were both glowing with the light of the moon.

It was an unnerving sight, one moment the creatures were right in front of me, but when the light of the moon vanished, they were completely gone.

These creatures were using my eye's inability to focus on them to their benefit.

I found myself wondering to where Williams and Jose's were seated and both men already had a spot open for me.

Even as the men started fires to keep the creatures of the forest away, we couldn't help but stay silent, this was our first real battle and the enemy, wast a bunch of savages with little to no defenses, no it had been nothing but a bunch of angry lizards trying to drive us away.

The night passed quickly and I failed to notice when I had fallen asleep, but the sound of trees falling caught my attention and as I opened my eyes I was met with the sight of something truly breathtaking.

Horses with horns walked passed us, these were unicorns, tings only believed to exist in myths.

I didn't move as I didn't want to startle them as they walked, but they didn't continue to do so, no they began to eat what grass laid near us, near me.

A being of white light fell from the sky and the unicorns ran off startled by the light.

A woman wearing a white dress stood on top of the trees, her long black hair completely contradicted her white dress.

One moment she was on top of the trees the next she stood in front of me, I nearly jumped to my feet and all of the men had their swords drawn in her direction.

"Calm yourselves men of metal, I have not come to do battle"

"There is a Lord of Light and a Lord of Dark"

"I serve him, who stands in between"

She said to us, yet she never once moved her mouth, she turned into white smoke and stood in front of Jose.

"Ice and Fire are in front of you" she said as she crumbled into the dirt and stood in front of William.

"The past left behind can no longer be abandoned"

Suddenly she was direct in front of me, she had no eyes just empty holes where her eyes should be and her mouth was sewn shut.

"Destinies have been changed, the question remains will you embrace them or abandon them?"

"What do you want witch?" Jose said to the creature.

"The woman turned to Jose and said. "I want nothing lost one, for I have no will of my own. I am nothing more than a pre-recording"

"No single army can conquer these lands, turn back now and keep what you have, march on and lose them all"

"Do you think a threat!" William began only for the woman to stop him from talking.

"No threat, a choice. Strengthen your defenses and claim your new lands or have your only way of escape be claimed by those of the forest. Your choice not mine"

I suddenly understood everything, the paths, the beasts everything about why no creature walks into another's territory.

The reason was simple, the creatures were simply strong enough to claim it for their own, not just that they took those territories and kept them.

"Why are you warning us?" I asked the creature.

"Because we want to see the new feature," it said before flying back into the sky and vanishing from sight.

I turned to look at Jose and I found that William was doing the same.

"Start cutting the trees downs we will set our base here, those of you that can start clearing a path back to the one we took to get here"

"These lands belong to us now."

"Lord Tyron, with all, do respect, sir, I would like for you and William to choose which one of you will stay and which one of you will return home."

"We need to put these slaves to good use and it looks like we are going to need more people to help settle these new lands, our revenge will have to wait"

William turned and we looked at one another before I stepped forward.

"All of you that want to have some fun, come with me, we are heading back to the town" I ordered and I began to walk back in the direction we had come from, the slaves whimpered as they were forced to follow me as I led the men back.
